As an island nation, Japan has constructed a number of trans-straits bridges and submarine tunnels after the Second World War to promote the development of the economy and the society. As a result, the traffic of the four main islands have achieved inter-connection. These trans-straits passages have played an important role in the development of Japanese technology, economy and society. This provides enlightenment for the construction of the five trans-straits passages in China.
