manticism, Shakespeare' realism and s plays have combined multiple modes of artistic expression such as rosymbolism in the construction of a man-centred ethical system, an ultimate ethical utopia where truth, good and beauty are harmoniously unified. Though such a utopia is unlikely to be realized due to the playwright' s lack of a scientific view of development and the restrictions of his time, it is still an attractive dream. Shakespeare' s ethical ideal and his moral standards are based on his dialectic reflections of humanity, so his ideal ethical system is built on the balance of humanity. An ideal man to Shakespeare' s mind is a balanced man with both his natural and social natures fully realized. Shakespeare' s dream of constructing an ethical utopia is of great practical significance to the socialist moral education, for it can certainly invoke the modem people ' s reflections and echoes.
