The atticlc probes the ecognition of metaphor and its functions in English learing, metaphor is basicaily a sort of thoughts, which can help the lesmer to recognize and understand the world better, especially is meaningful in improving the English learncr's vocabulary, pragmatic ability and cross culture aliility, In metaphor, the conception usually projects from the stronger one to the weaker one, understanding the process and combining the theory of meaningful study will better forge the new knowledge into the formed cognitive learning system, which will improve the efficiency of learning and the memory of new knowledge.
