In order to investigate the in vivo varying rule of the necessary trace elements, such as Fe, Zn, Cu and Mn of elitist sportswomen after under intensive training, as well as discuss the feasibility of painless hair sampling as the replacement of blood sampling method in monitoring the trace element nutrition ingestion of sportswomen, the blood sampling of 12 elitist sportswomen of the woman Volleyball Team of Nanjing Military District was performed on the first, seventh and fortieth summer training days, and the hair sampling was carried out on the first and fortieth training day also The contents of Fe, Zn, Cu and Mn of both hair and blood samples were measured using an atomic absorption spectrometer. The results show: ( 1 ) Fe, Cu contents and Cu/Zn ratio of plasma reduce obviously after summer training (P〈0.05-0.001) , whereas in plasma the Mn content increases greatly (P〈0.001) , and the Zn content keeps constant. (2) In plasma, the content of every trace element varies at different ratios in whole summer training period. Plasma Fe decreases observably alter the first week summer training ( P〈0.001 ), showing a rapid process. Differently, the increase of plasma Cu, Cu/Zn ratio and decrease of plasma Mn present a gradually accumulating process, except an obvious dttterence ( P〈0.05-0.001 ) after the finishing of summer training. (3) After the summer training, hair Fe and Cu contents display a noticeable declining ( P〈0.05- 0.001 ) , as well as the hair Cu/Zn ratio and hair Zn content remain unchanged. All these imply it is feasible to replace the conventional blood sampling with hair sampling method in monitoring of trace elements Fe, Zn and Cu during intensive training period. Additionally, supplement of trace elements Fe and Cu is necessary at the beginning of intensive training period.
