Boeing is considering launching a family of stretched 747 derivatives as a 700-seat VLCT ( Very Large Commercial Transport), because British Airways expressed their big interest of the aircraft type through a letter to Boeing chairman Frank Schrontz . On the other hand, the U.S. efforts to develop a viable second generation SST (Supersonic Transport) has been alarmingly extensive from the European point of view . Some of the European manufacturers have been urging Europe to get the game.
