摘要
英语字母的造词能力很强 ,曾滋生繁衍出大量的词 ,充实丰富了语汇库 ,满足了语言交际不断发展的需要。字母组合是有限的 ,而语言发展的需要是无限的。然后人们使用词缀、转换和合成的方式 ,构造大量的词汇 ,解决了字母组合不足的缺陷。到了 2 0世纪 ,政治经济 ,科学技术等方面不断发展 ,出现了许多新事件和新观念 ,需要新词来表示。过去常用的新词构造法不再常用或用得很少 ,形成了本世纪构造新词的特点。
English letters have very great ability of coinage, they have been breeding a large number of vocabulary, enriching the pool of language words, meeting the need of the constant development of communication. The combination of English letters is limited, but the need of the language development is unlimited. Later, people utilize the methods of affix, conversion and compounding to coin many words and resolve the flaw in the limited combination of letters. In the 20th century, with the development of politics, economy, science and technology, many new things and conceptions bave appeared and needed the expression of new words. The methods of coinage often used in the past are not used or almost not used today, they bave formed the word building trend of the 20th century.
