EPC系统是在全球统一标识系统(EAN.UCC系统)和计算机互联网的基础上,利用射频识别技术(RFID)、无线数据通信等技术,给每一个实体对象一个惟一的代码,构造的一个覆盖世界上万事万物的实物互联网,通常简称为"互联网",可以提高物流供应链管理水平、降低成本,被誉为具有革命性意义的新技术.
With the new EPC network, computers will allow manufacturers to track and trace items automatically throughout the supply chain. Electronic Product Codes (EPC) are embedded in microscopic Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, which are attached to objects, cases and pallets. Every EPC is a unique identifier. RFID readers can ' see' the objects and query computers that give information about that object. The object now can be identified by manufacturers, distributors and retailers anywhere, anytime in the global supply chain.
