摘要
Senile Dementia has become more frequent with increasing life expectancy. It is severely threatening our aging society. De- mentia is characterized by progressive memory loss, associated with agnosia, dyscalculia, apraxia, and deficits in executive functioning. Alzheimer’ s disease is the most frequent cause of dementia. Up till now, it has been left doctors helpless to halt its unavoidable progress. The drugs, which have been approved by FDA for the symptomatic management of AD, are far from ideal. Therefore, more and more researchers have been putting theirs eyes on he rbal medicine. TCM has a goodeffect onsenile dementia.This paper summarizes theprogress ofTCM on senile dementia in some aspects, including guidance on clinical investigation of medical products for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, animal models, Traditional Chinese Medi- cine and its active ingredients, Prescriptions of TCM etc. It is hoped that this knowledge will benefit for prevention and treatment Dementia.
