Abstract Problems of ecological environment in the process of economic development attracted much attention in recent years. The theory and methods of sustained development which combine development with environment make it possible for governments of developing countries to realize the goals of sustained development. This paper focuses on 3 important aspects of the above issue: 1) the main characteristics of the problems of ecological environment; 2) the special features of these problems in developing countries; and 3) the policies of developing countries in dealing with these problems.
