摘要
本文试图以文化史比较的方法,对中西学术的源流——主要是对作为中国文化起源的先秦学术,与作为欧洲文化起源的古典希腊学术,作一比较,从而探讨东方与西方这两大文化学术和文化类型的一系列重大差异;找出在中国传统学术和文化的基础上,之所以必然不能孕育出近代欧洲那种新形态的科学技术体系的历史原因。
Using the method of comparative cultural history and comparing the cultural origins of China and the West—mainly the different schools of thought of the pre-Chin period and the classic Greek academic learning, the author of this paper attempts to reveal certain major disparities between the two great cultures of the East and the West. From this assumption he proceeds to delve into the main historial reasons, on the basis of Chinese traditional learning and culture, why it was not possible to nurture a new type of scientific and technological system in China comparable to that of Europe in recent times.
