摘要
0.概述不同的语言的句子(指基本句)具有不同的扩展型式。这里的所谓“扩展”,指基本句结构随着思维的发展而呈现的线性延伸。本文关注的中心,是汉英两种语言在承载思维作线性延伸时,各自具有不同的型式(pattern),正是特定的型式,决定汉英两种语言不同的语段(text)发展程式和结构。
The author of this article holds that the Basic Sentence(BS,i.e.,a sentence
that stands out of a text,usually no comma is allowed or needed to cut off the
structure)in Chinese different from that of the English language in their models
of expansion.The expansion potential of the Chinese BS is much limited in LR
(from left to right)ordering while it is considerable in RL(from right to left)
ordering.The expansion potential of the English BS is just the opposite.N.Chom-
sky's theory of FL(form language) is true of English when he says that a basic
sentence can be expanded by an arbitary number of that-clauses,depending only
on the speaker's memory and stamina.The assumption is not true of the Chinese
basic sentence.
