摘要
比较英语元音与汉语元音的变化，是英汉语音对比研究的一个重要组成部分，对英汉语对比研究具有重要的意义。英汉语元音既有共时变化，也有历时变化，具有重要的普遍规律与不同特点。语音变化是一定的内因和外因使然。语音变化比句法变化难以捉摸，而且没有词法变化那样直观，但它却具有更大的系统性，涉及语言结构、发音机制、认知心理和文化环境等诸多因素，值得研究。
To study the vowel changes in English and Chinese is an important part of the contrastive study of the sound systems of the two languages.The paper outlines the main trains of vowel changes in English and Chinese, sums up the similarities and differences, and suggests some internal and external factors which might have caused the vowel changes.
