Objective:To explore the effect of short-term metformin therapy on micro-inflammatory response and oxidative stress response in obese patients with NAFLD.Methods: Obese patients with NAFLD who received treatment in our hospital between March 2014 and January 2018 were selected for retrospective study and divided into control group receiving conventional therapy and the metformin group receiving conventional therapy combined with short-term metformin therapy. Before treatment and 2 weeks after treatment, serum levels of inflammatory factors and oxidative stress indexes were measured. Results: Before treatment, there was no significant difference in serum levels of inflammatory factors or oxidative stress indexes between the two groups. After 2 weeks of treatment, the serum levels of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-18, IL-33, AOPPs, ROS and LHP of both groups decreased, while the levels of SOD and T-AOC increased and the serum levels of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-18, IL-33, AOPPs, ROS and LHP of observation group were lower than those of control group, while the levels of SOD and T-AOC were higher than those of control group. Conclusion: Short-term metformin can effectively inhibit the micro-inflammatory state and reduce the oxidative stress response in obese patients with NAFLD.
