Epitaph for Cui Baoyi's Wife of Tang Dynasty was excavated from the construction site of the underground storage of the Palace Museum in the summer of 1995.The epitaph documented life stories of key members of the Cui family.Through a study of the content of the epitaph, the article addresses issues such as the official titles, ancestral identity, burial customs and historical sites, arguing that Cui Baoyi’s family was a representative of the upper-middle class in Youzhou in mid-Tang period and their religious belief was Daoism.Since the epitaph was discovered in the Forbidden City,it offers important information for locating of the Sui dynasty(581-618)Linshuo Palace and for re-establishing the regional history before the Forbidden City was built.
