文理科博士生动名搭配使用错误的实证研究

Investigating the Deviant Use of V-N Collocations in L2 Writing by Doctoral Students in Sciences and Humanities

摘要 搭配的使用有助于提高二语产出的流利性和地道性。为了揭示高水平二语学习者在写作产出中的动名搭配使用问题,本研究分析了60篇文理科博士生的英语议论文写作语料,分析显示:在学生使用的动名搭配中,约有四分之一是错误的,其中局部错误显著多于整体错误;在整体错误内部,本身不合适的搭配(WCI)数量显著多于扩展的动词结构(SVC);各类局部错误的出现频次也有显著差异,频次最高的是选词错误,特别是同义词的混用和泛义动词的过度使用。其次为形式错误(主要包括名词单复数错误和词性错误)与成分缺失问题(主要为冠词和介词缺失),成分多余与结构错误的出现频次最低。造成以上错误的原因包括母语影响、对泛义动词用法的误解、对搭配限定性及非实词成分的忽视等。基于以上结果,建议在二语教学中加强对搭配的重视,以帮助学生提高语言使用的地道性。 Collocations are believed to be conducive to the fluency and idiomaticity of the L2 production. In order to reveal the various problems in the collocational use in advanced L2 learners’ written production, this study analyzed 60 argumentative essays written by Chinese Ph.D. students specializing in sciences and humanities. Analysis has yielded the following major findings: among all the V-N collocations used in the essays, nearly a quarter was deviant, and the local errors significantly outnumbered the global errors;among the global errors, the occurrence of "whole collocation inappropriate"( WCI) was significantly higher than that of "stretched verb construction"(SVC);the occurrences of various local errors were also significantly different, with word choice errors(esp. misuse of synonyms and overuse of general verbs) ranking in the first place, form errors(esp. plural form and part of speech errors) and component-missing errors(esp. absence of articles and prepositions) in the second and the third place, component redundancy and incorrect structure at the bottom;causes for these deviations may include L1 influence, misunderstanding of the usage of general verbs, ignorance of collocation restrictions and neglect of the grammatical words in V-N collocations. Based on the above findings, it is suggested that teaching of collocations be highlighted in the L2 classroom instruction so as to help learners improve the idiomaticity of their L2 production.
