摘要
互联网使用会影响居民健康吗?基于中国家庭追踪调查数据(CFPS)和中国营养健康调查数据(CHNS),本文采用工具变量两阶段最小二乘法实证分析了互联网使用对健康的影响,并讨论其内在机制及影响效果的异质性。研究发现,互联网使用增加了居民报告健康变化更差,身体不适、患慢性病的概率,对居民健康有不利的影响。影响机制结果表明,互联网使用对健康行为既有积极的影响,又有消极的影响;总体而言,对健康行为的积极影响不足以消除其带来的消极影响。异质性检验的结果表明,互联网使用对城镇、高中及以上居民的负面影响更小。基于此,本文建议在进一步推动互联网发展及普及的过程中,要关注新技术对居民健康的负面影响。
Does internet usage affect an individual’s health?Based on China Family Panel Studies(CFPS)and China Health and Nutrition Survey(CHNS)data,this paper analyzes the effects of internet usage on individual’s health by using the two-stage instrumental variables estimation.And this paper also investigates the possible mechanisms and heterogeneous effects of internet usage on health.The results indicate that internet use has a negative effect on individual’s health,which increases the likelihood of reporting worsening health status,physical discomfort,chronic diseases and hospitalization.A nd the pathway analysis shows that the internet usage has both positive and negative effects on health behaviors.When analyzing effect heterogeneity,it shows that the negative is smaller in subgroups with higher education and urban area.When promoting the development and popularization of the internet,attention should also be paid to its negative consequences.
