摘要
《维氏美学》(L’Esthétique,1878)是日本启蒙思想家中江兆民受日本文部省委托,于1883~1884年翻译出版的法国人维龙(Eugène Véron,1825-1889)的美学著作。该著作由绪论、第一部“美学总论”、第二部“艺术各论”以及附录《柏拉图的美学》组成,是日本乃至东亚范围内最早的体系化美学著作。在这部译著中,兆民率先使用了汉字译名“美学”,并运用“自由译”的形式,对当时重模仿的美术教育提出了批评。从总体上看,该著作反对欧洲传统的柏拉图主义,主张实证,具有启蒙时代追求人性自由的进步色彩,在日本出版后,对坪内逍遥等文艺理论家产生了较大的影响,促进了日本艺术实践的现代化转型,具有重要的历史价值。但不容否认的是,该著作也有着很大的局限性,需要我们今天加以批判性审视。
The L'Esthétique of Eugène Véron is a translation of the aesthetic work of the Frenchman Virtue,which was published from 1883 to 1884 by the Japanese thinker Nakae Chomin on behalf of the Japanese Ministry of Education.The work consists of an introduction,the first part,“General Theory of Aesthetics”,the second part,“Monographs on Art”,and an appendix,Plato's Aesthetics.It is the earliest systematic work on aesthetics in Japan and East Asia.In this translation,Chomin was the first who used the Chinese title“Bi-Gaku”and the form of“free translation”to criticize the imitation-oriented art education of the time.On the whole,the work opposes the traditional European Platonism,and advocates empirical evidence,with progressive overtones of the Enlightenment era's pursuit of human freedom.Since its publication in Japan,it has had a great influence on literary and artistic theorists such as Tsubouchi Shoyo and contributed to the modernization and transformation of Japanese artistic practice.However,there is no denying that the work also has significant limitations that need to be critically examined today.

维龙(Eugène Véron,1825-1889),生于法国巴黎,1846年进入巴黎高等师范学院学习,1850年获得文学教授资格。在短暂地执教后,进入新闻传媒界,先后担任《自由》《里昂的进步》《共和法兰西》等报刊的主笔及主编,在《美学》外,著有《人类的知识进步》《自由与劳工组合》《古代及近代艺术中的神话》《伦理学》《博物学立场上的宗教史》等,是一位拥护共和、具有进步倾向的自由撰稿人;中江兆民(1847~1901),本名“笃介”,号“兆民”,是日本自由民权运动的理论指导者。青年时代留学法国,曾担任东京外语学校校长、元老院权少书记官等职,后辞官专心经营《东洋自由新闻》及“法(国)学塾”,积极倡导人民主权论和唯物论哲学,出版有《民约译解》《理学钩玄》《续一年有半》等;郑子路,江西师范大学美术学院副教授,东京大学博士后研究员,主要从事东方美学与中日艺术交流史研究。
