摘要
一导言法界佛像1是一类极为特殊的佛像,与通常所见佛之形象不同,此类佛像多在佛衣或躯体上表现须弥山及六道众生等各种各样的图像。由现存的作品,推测法界佛像的制作活动开始于公元五六世纪前后,并一直持续至13世纪,其地理分布也十分广阔,包括今新疆维吾尔自治区、敦煌、河南、山东、河北、山西、辽宁及云南等地。
Among all the images of Buddha,Cosmological Buddha enjoys some of the features that other genre of Buddha images do not possess,the main characteristic of which is that specific motif such as Sumeru or sadgatih are shown on the kasaya or the body of the Buddha.This essay takes the image of the Cosmological Buddha manufactured in Early Tang as an examples to analyze their iconographic characteristics.And also tries to discuss the methodology of interpreting the depiction of the Buddhist world shown on the Cosmological Buddha.
