Microhistorian Carlo Ginzburg studies"little people,"and this is his unique theoretical contribution. In terms of the perspective of research,Ginzburg emphasizes the change of individual images within the group, which reflects the theoretical influence of cultural anthropology and the trend of global history turn.In terms of the content of research,he pays attention to little people’s identity formation and the relationship between self-identity and social identity. In terms of research methods,he uses clue paradigms to explore details, and emphasizes the importance of social context associated with clues. The emergence of the above research features depends on the sophisticated use of some neglected historical materials, especially court trial records. It is a complementary way in which historians look at these cases and court evidence as judges treat testimony. In doing so,they will provide multiple layers of historical evidence to study"little people"in the future.
