摘要
本文以2011-2019年中国制造业跨国企业的554家海外子公司数据为样本,从投资便利化、投资保护和市场准入三个维度对双边投资协定的质量加以衡量,研究双边投资协定质量水平对跨国企业海外经营绩效的影响,结果显示:高质量的双边投资协定能通过降低跨国企业在东道国的不确定性程度来促进跨国企业海外经营绩效的提升;相比于市场准入和投资便利化而言,投资保护条款对跨国企业海外经营绩效的提升起到一定的主导性作用;进一步针对不同发展水平国家和不同所有制结构进行异质性检验,结果显示双边投资协定的促进效应以及市场准入、投资保护和投资便利化的主导性效应存在明显差异性。
Based on the data of 554 overseas subsidiaries of Chinese manufacturing multinational enterprises from 2011 to 2019,this paper measures the quality of bilateral investment treaties(BITs)from the three dimensions of investment facilitation,investment protection and market access,and studies the impact of the quality level of BITs on the overseas business performance of multinational enterprises.The results show that high quality BITs can promote the overseas business performance of multinational enterprises by reducing the uncertainty of multinational enterprises in the host country.Compared with market access and investment facilitation,investment protection clauses play a leading role in improving the overseas business performance of multinational enterprises.In addition,there are obvious differences in the promotion effect of BITs and the dominant effects of market access,investment protection and investment facilitation.
