摘要
文章基于概念隐喻,对比分析了英汉语中“舌”的隐喻义。研究结果表明,英汉语中“舌”的大部分隐喻映射相似,但也有部分隐喻映射只存在于英语或汉语中。“舌”的隐喻目标域大体包括:形状像舌的物体,语言或方言,言语或说话,说话的能力,说话的方式风格、性格情感,辩论或争执,议论或流言等。其中,“舌”喻说话的方式风格、性格情感体现了英汉语中都有“以身喻心”概念隐喻。另外,虽然舌头既是发音器官,也是味觉器官,但英汉语中大部分隐喻都是基于其发音的身体体验,少有隐喻是基于其味觉的身体体验。
Based on conceptual metaphor,this paper comparatively analyzes the metaphors of“tongue”in English and Chinese.The results show that most of the metaphors of“tongue”in English and Chinese are similar,but some of them exist only in English or Chinese.The target domains of“tongue”include:an object with a similar shape to that of a tongue,language or dialect,speech or discourse,the ability to speak,the way of speaking or the speaker's emotion,debates or disputes,arguments or gossip,etc.Among them,the way of speaking or the speaker's emotion reflects the conceptual metaphor of“MIND-AS-BODY”,which exists in both English and Chinese.In addition,although the tongue is an organ of both articulation and taste,most metaphors in English and Chinese are based on the experience of articulation,and few are based on the experience of taste.
