An elasto-viscoplastic model is briefly introduced based on the rate-dependency of preconsolidation pressure. By comparing the rate-dependency formulation with the creep based formulation, the relationship between rate-dependency and creep behaviors is firstly described. The rate-dependency based formulation is then extended to derive an analytical solution for the stress relaxation behavior with defining a stress relaxation coefficient. Based on this, the relationship between the rate-dependency coefficient and the stress relaxation coefficient is derived. Therefore, the uniqueness between behaviors of rate-dependency, creep and stress relaxation with their key parameters is obtained. The uniqueness is finally validated by comparing the simulated rate-dependency of preconsolidation pressure, the estimated values of secondary compression coefficient and simulations of stress relaxation tests with test results on both reconstituted Illite and Berthierville clay.展开更多

The experimental results indicate that the triaxial compression strength for frozen clay in KoDCGF test increases with the increase of confining pressure, but it decreases as the confining pressure increases further in GFC test. In other words, the compression strength for frozen clay with identical confining pressure decreases with the increase in thermal gradient both in KoDCGF test and GFC test. The strength of frozen clay in KoDCGF test is dependent of pore ice strength, soil particle strength and interaction between soil skeleton and pore ice. The decrease of water content and distance between soil particles leads to the decrease of pore size and the increase of contact area between particles in KoDCGF test, which further results in a higher compression strength than that in GFC test. The compression strength for frozen clay with thermal gradient can be descried by strength for frozen clay with a uniform temperature identical to the temperature at the height of specimen where the maximum tensile stress appears.展开更多

Test results show that rock temperature decreases quickly at the initial stage, and reduces slowly to be a constant value finally for transient heat-moisture transfer. The quasi-steady surface temperature of wet airway is lower than that of dry airway due to the moisture transfer. The diffusion radius is less than the cooling radius owing to the large diffusion resistance. The outlet airflow enthalpy of wet airway is much larger than that of dry airway. Latent heat caused by the moisture transfer plays a significant role in a deep thermal environment. For periodic heat-moisture transfer, temperature, humidity and enthalpy of outlet airflow and rock temperature also change periodically. The wave amplitude of rock temperature decreases gradually with increasing distance away from the airway surface, and the wave phase of rock temperature is also behind that of airflow. Moreover, direction of the heat-moisture transfer between airway and airflow is bidirectional, which is different from results of transient transfer.展开更多

文摘Multi-stage triaxial compression tests for cylindrical red sandstone specimens(diameter of 50 mm,height of 100 mm) were carried out with a rock mechanics testing system and spatial acoustic emission(AE) locations were obtained by adopting an AE monitoring system.Based on spatial AE distribution evolution of red sandstone during multi-stage triaxial deformation, the relation between spatial AE events and triaxial deformation of red sandstone was analyzed. The results show that before peak strength, the spatial AE events are not active and distribute stochastically in the specimen, while after peak strength, the spatial AE events are very active and focus on a local region beyond final microscopic failure plane.During multi-stage triaxial deformation with five different confining pressures, the spatial AE distribution evolution in the red sandstone was obtained. The obtained spatial AE locations of red sandstone at the final confining pressure agree very well with the ultimate failure experimental mode. Finally, the influence of confining pressure on the spatial AE evolution characteristics of red sandstone during triaxial deformation was discussed. The AE behavior of red sandstone during multi-stage triaxial deformation is interpreted in the light of the Kaiser effect, which has a significant meaning for predicting the unstable failure of engineering rock mass.

文摘Deformation and failure of deep clay samples are closely related to energy changes.Investigating the energy conversion and damage behavior of deep clay during loading and unloading tests has important significance for prevention-control of soil destabilization damage caused by mine shaft excavation. In the present work, triaxial tests of consolidated clay under different stress paths and stress rates were conducted. The results reveal that the mechanical properties of soils have strong stress rate effects and the samples mainly experience energy storage in the elastic stage, after that, the energy conversion mainly undergoes an increase of dissipative energy and release of elastic energy, which is also confirmed by the results of the analysis in the subsequent CT tests. Two damage indicators were compared, finding that the indicator based on dissipative energy has more obvious differences in two stress paths and can be used as a better indicator to describe the damage evolution of soils. Finally,in the triaxial shear test, due to the unloading effect of confining pressure, the damage of soils increased more rapidly near breaking than in the triaxial compression test, which indicates that the damage caused by unloading on deep soil is more abrupt than that caused by loading.

文摘This work focuses on the uniqueness of rate-dependency, creep and stress relaxation behaviors for soft clays under one-dimensional condition. The uniqueness is finally validated by comparing the simulated rate-dependency of preconsolidation pressure, the estimated values of secondary compression coefficient and simulations of stress relaxation tests with test results on both reconstituted Illite and Berthierville clay.

文摘Based on the axial stress-axial strain curves, the effect of fissure angle on the strength and deformation behavior of sandstone specimens containing combined flaws is analyzed. The mechanical parameters of sandstone specimens containing combined flaws are all lower than that of intact specimen, but the reduction extent is distinctly related to the fissure angle. The results of sandstone specimens containing combined flaws are obtained by the acoustic emission, which can be used to monitor the crack initiation and propagation. The ultimate failure mode and crack coalescence behavior are evaluated for brittle sandstone specimens containing combined flaws.Nine different crack types are identified on the basis of their geometry and crack coalescence mechanism(tensile crack, hole collapse,far-field crack and surface spalling)for combined flaws. The photographic monitoring was also adopted for uniaxial compression test in order to confirm the sequence of crack coalescence in brittle sandstone specimens containing combined flaws, which recorded the real-time crack coalescence process during entire deformation.According to the monitored results, the effect of crack coalescence process on the strength and deformation behavior is investigated based on a detailed analysis for brittle sandstone specimens containing combined flaws by using digital photogrammetry.

文摘A series of laboratory experiments and PFC numerical simulations for rock-like material specimens containing two unparallel fissures were carried out.On the basis of experimental and numerical results, the stress-strain curves, mechanical properties,AE events, cracking behavior and energy characteristics were analyzed to reveal the macro-mechanical behavior and meso-mechanism of pre-fissured specimens under different loading rates.Investigated results show that:1)When the loading rate is relatively low,the stress-strain curves show a brittle response. When the loading rate is relatively high, the curve shows a more ductile response. Both of the peak strength and elastic mudulus increase with the increase of loading rate, which can be expressed as power functions.2)Four crack types are identified,i.e.,tensile crack, shear crack,far-field crack and surface spalling. Moreover, the tensile crack,far-field crack and surface spalling are under tensile mechanism, while the shear crack is under shear mechanism.3)The drops of the stress-strain curves all correspond to the crack initiation or coalescence, which is also linked to a sudden increasing in the accumulated micro-crack curve.4)Both of the maximum bond force and energy have the similar trend with the increase of loading rate to peak strength, which indicates that the trend of peak strength can be explained by the meso-mechanics and energy.

文摘Rock burst is a severe disaster in mining and underground engineering, and it is important to predict the rock burst risk for minimizing the loss during the constructing process. The rock burst proneness was connected with the acoustic emission(AE) parameter in this work, which contributes to predicting the rock burst risk using AE technique.Primarily,a rock burst proneness index is proposed, and it just depends on the heterogeneous degree of rock material. Then, the quantificational formula between the value of rock burst proneness index and the accumulative AE counts in rock sample under uniaxial compression with axial strain increases is developed. Finally, three kinds of rock samples,i.e.,granite,limestone and sandstone are tested about variation of the accumulative AE counts under uniaxial compression, and the test data are fitted well with the theoretic formula.

文摘The current popular methods for decision making and project optimisation in mine ventilation contain a number of deficiencies as they are solely based on either subjective knowledge or objective information. This paper presents a new approach to rank the alternatives by G1-coefficient of variation method. The focus of this approach is the use of the combination weighing, which is able to compensate for the deficiencies in the method of evaluation index single weighing. In the case study,an appropriate evaluation index system was established to determine the evaluation value of each ventilation mode. Then the proposed approach was used to select the best development face ventilation mode. The result shows that the proposed approach is able to rank the alternative development face ventilation mode reasonably, the combination weighing method had the advantages of both subjective and objective weighing methods in that it took into consideration of both the experience and wisdom of experts, and the new changes in objective conditions. This approach provides a more reasonable and reliable procedure to analyse and evaluate different ventilation modes.

文摘Based on the field destructive test of six rock-socketed piles with shallow overburden, three prediction models are used to quantitatively analyze and predict the intact load−displacement curve. The predicted values of ultimate uplift capacity were further determined by four methods(displacement controlling method(DCM),reduction coefficient method(RCM),maximum curvature method(MCM),and critical stiffness method(CSM))and compared with the measured value.Through the analysis of the relationship between the change rate of pullout stiffness and displacement,a method used to determine the ultimate uplift capacity via non-intact load−displacement curve was proposed. The results show that the predicted value determined by DCM is more conservative, while the predicted value determined by MCM is larger than the measured value. This suggests that RCM and CSM in engineering applications can be preferentially applied. Moreover, the development law of the change rate of pullout stiffness with displacement agrees well with the attenuation form of power function. The theoretical predicted results of ultimate uplift capacity based on the change rate of pullout stiffness will not be affected by the integrity of the curve. The method is simple and applicable for the piles that are not loaded to failure state, and thus provides new insights into ultimate uplift capacity determination of test piles.

文摘Rockburst is one of the major disasters in deep underground rock mechanics and engineering. The precursors of rockbursts play important roles in rockburst prediction.Strainburst experiments were performed under double-face unloading on sandstone with horizontal bedding planes using an independently designed rockburst testing facility.P-wave propagation time during the tests was automatically recorded by the acoustic emission apparatus. The P-wave velocities were calculated in both two directions to analyze their patterns. To find a characteristic precursor for rockburst, the dynamic evolution of rock anisotropy during the rockburst test is quantified by the anisotropic coefficient k,defined as the ratio of the two P-wave velocities in the directions vertical to and parallel to the bedding planes. The results show that rockburst occurs on the two free surfaces asynchronously. The rockburst failure occurs in the following order:crack generation, rock peeling, particle ejection, and rock fracture. In the process of rockburst under double-face unloading, the potential evolution characteristics of anisotropy can be generalized as anisotropy-isotropy-anisotropy.The suddenly unloading induces damage in the rock and presents anisotropic coefficient k steeply increasing departing from one,i.e.,isotropy.The rocks with horizontal bedding planes will reach the isotropic state before rockburst, which could be considered as a characteristic precursor of this kind of rockburst.

文摘The dynamic mechanical properties of rock specimens after thermal treatment in the air-filled environment(AE:i.e.,at the free surface)have been extensively investigated, yet they are rarely estimated in the quasi-vacuum environment(VE:i.e.,far from free surface),which is of special importance in engineering practice.Several precise laboratory tests(i.e.,split Hopkinson pressure bar test)on marble samples in both AE and VE were performed to investigate physical and dynamic mechanical behaviors of marble after heat treatment(25℃ to 900℃)in AE and VE.The tests results demonstrate that related properties of marble could be divided into three different stages by corresponding critical temperatures of 300℃ and 600℃,at which heat damage factors are 0.29(0.30)and 0.88(0.92)in VE(AE),respectively. The thermal damage developes more fully in AE than in VE.The thermal environment plays an important role, especially in Stage 3.Specifically,a conspicuous difference(greater than 20%)between AE and VE occurs in corresponding dynamic strength and the anti-deformation capacities of tested marble specimen. The influence of heat damage of rock is very important and valuable in engineering practice, particularly when the temperature is very high(greater than 600℃).

文摘Textile reinforced concrete(TRC)has good bearing capacity, crack resistance and corrosion resistance and it is suitable for repairing and reinforcing concrete structures in harsh marine environments. The four-point bending method was used to analyze the influence of the salt concentration, the damage degree and the coupled effect of the environment and load on the bending performance of TRC-strengthened beams with a secondary load. The results showed that as the salt concentration increased, the crack width and mid-span deflection of the beam quickly increased, and its bearing capacity decreased. As the damage degree increased, the early-stage crack development and mid-span deflection of the beam were less affected and the ultimate bearing capacity significantly decreased. In addition, the coupled effect of the environment and load on the beams with a secondary load was significant. As the sustained load increased, the ultimate bearing capacity of the strengthened beam decreased, and cracks developed faster in the later stage. In addition, the mid-span deflection of the beam decreased at the same load level because of the influence of the initial deflection due to the sustained load corrosion.

文摘Seepage and stress redistribution are the main factors affecting the stability of surrounding rock in high-pressure hydraulic tunnels. In this work, the effects of the seepage field were firstly simplified as a seepage factor acting on the stress field, and the equilibrium equation of high pressure inner water exosmosis was established based on physical theory. Then, the plane strain theory was used to solve the problem of elasticity, and the analytic expression of surrounding rock stress was obtained. On the basis of criterion of Norway, the influences of seepage, pore water pressure and buried depth on the characteristics of the stress distribution of surrounding rocks were studied. The analyses show that the first water-filling plays a decisive role in the stability of the surrounding rock; the influence of seepage on the stress field around the tunnel is the greatest, and the change of the seepage factor is approximately consistent with the logarithm divergence. With the effects of the rock pore water pressure, the circumferential stress shows the exchange between large and small, but the radial stress does not.Increasing the buried depth can enhance the arching effect of the surrounding rock, thus improving the stability.

文摘A series of triaxial compression tests for frozen clay were performed by KoDCGF (freezing with non-uniform temperature under loading after K0 consolidation) method and GFC (freezing with non-uniform temperature without experiencing Ko consolidation) method at various confining pressures and thermal gradients. The compression strength for frozen clay with thermal gradient can be descried by strength for frozen clay with a uniform temperature identical to the temperature at the height of specimen where the maximum tensile stress appears.

文摘To study the mechanism of unsteady heat-moisture transfer of wet surrounding rock in deep mining, a series of experiments with different initial and boundary conditions were carried out. Moreover, direction of the heat-moisture transfer between airway and airflow is bidirectional, which is different from results of transient transfer.
