Prevalence and modifiable risk factors of degenerative valvular heart disease among elderly population in southern China 被引量:3

Objective To investigate the prevalence and modifiable risk factors of degenerative valvular heart disease(DVHD)among elderly population in southern China.Methods A stratified multistage sampling method was used to recruit subjects.The contents of the survey included the questionnaire,laboratory examination,echocardiography,and other auxiliary examinations.The possible risk factors of DVHD were analyzed by logistic regression analysis.Results A total of 3538 subjects≥65 years of age were enrolled.One thousand three hundred and seven subjects(36.9%)were diagnosed with DVHD.Degenerative was the most common etiology of VHD.Prevalence of DVHD increased with advancing age.The prevalence of DVHD differed by living region(χ^(2)=45.594,P<0.001),educational level(χ^(2)=50.557,P<0.001),and occupation(χ^(2)=36.961,P<0.001).Risk factors associated with DVHD included age(two-fold increased risk for each 10-year increase in age),elevated level C-reactive protein(OR=1.346,95%CI:1.100-1.646),elevated level low density lipoprotein(OR=1.243,95%CI:1.064-1.451),coronary artery disease(OR=1.651,95%CI:1.085-2.513),smoking(OR=1.341,95%CI:1.132-1.589),and hypertension(OR=1.414,95%CI:1.221-1.638).Other significant risk factors included reduced or elevated level red blood cell(OR=1.347,95%CI:1.031-1.761;OR=1.599,95%CI:1.097-2.331;respectively),elevated level platelets(OR=1.891,95%CI:1.118-3.198),elevated level uric acid(OR=1.282,95%CI:1.112-1.479),and stroke(OR:1.738,95%CI=1.085-2.513).Conclusions The survey characterized the baseline conditions of DVHD cohort of elderly population in Guangzhou city.The established and emerging risk factors for DVHD may represent challenges and opportunities for therapy. 展开更多

The observations of Global Positioning System(GPS) scintillation,Total Electron Content(TEC)depletion,the periodic structure of TEC and Rate of TEC Index(ROTI) over south China were presented.Data were collected from GPS observations at stations of Shenzhen and Guangzhou from 2011 to 2012.This study reported that the ratio of simultaneous occurrences of TEC depletions with strong scintillations was higher than that of TEC depletions with weak scintillations in vernal and autumnal equinoxes of 2011 over South China.The number of the periodic structures of TEC with depletion contained was greater than that with no depletion contained corresponding to strong scintillations.The structure of the slab of plasma irregularities could be responsible for the simultaneous occurrences of TEC depletion with strong scintillations and ROTI.Before and during the occurrences of strong scintillation,there was Large-Scale Wave Structure(LSWS) which provided the seed ionization perturbation to trigger ESF irregularities and contributed to the periodic structure of TEC. 展开更多

Photocatalysis has emerged as an effective approach to sustainably convert biomass into value-added products.CoSe_(2)is a promising nonprecious,efficient cocatalyst for photooxidation,which can facilitate the separation of photogenerated electron–holes,increase the reaction rates,and enhance photocatalytic efficiency.In this work,we synthesized a stable and efficient photocatalysis system of CoSe_(2)/g-C_(3)N_(4)through attaching CoSe_(2)on g-C_(3)N_(4)sheets,with a yield of 50.12%for the selective photooxidation of xylose to xylonic acid.Under light illumination,the photogenerated electrons were prone to migrating from g-C_(3)N_(4)to CoSe_(2)due to the higher work function of CoSe_(2),resulting in the accelerated separation of photogenerated electron–holes and the promoted photooxidation.Herein,this study reveals the unique function of CoSe_(2),which can significantly promote oxygen adsorption,work as an electron sink and accelerate the generation of ·O_(2)^(-),thereby improving the selectivity toward xylonic acid over other by-products.This work provides useful insights into the design of selective photocatalysts by engineering g-C_(3)N_(4)for biomass high-value utilization. 展开更多

Hyperlipidemia constitutes a critical factor in the pathogenesis of vascular disease and gut microbiota dysbiosis.This study aims to investigate the role of sea buckthorn fruit oil(SBFO)in ameliorating hyperlipidemia,modulating gut microbiota,and elucidating the underlying mechanisms of its lipid-lowering effects.SBFO intervention in hyperlipidemic mice significantly reduced body weight and visceral adiposity index while mitigating symptoms associated with hyperlipidemia,including dyslipidemia,infla mmation,liver damage,and endothelial dysfunction.Real-time quantitative PCR and Western blot analyses revealed that SBFO enhanced the response of free fatty acid oxidation and breakdown(adenosine 5'-monophosphateactivated protein kinaseα,carnitine palmitoyltransferase1a,peroxisome proliferator-activated receptorα,and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptorγ)while suppressing the synthesis of triglycerides and fatty acids(sterol-regulatory element binding protein 1,fatty acid synthase,and acetyl CoA carboxylase)at the gene and protein expression levels.Moreover,SBFO intervention enriched the gut microbiota of hyperlipidemic mice by increasing the relative abundances of Lactobacillus,Faecalibaculum,and Allobaculum,while decreasing the Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio.These findings suggest that SBFO exhibits promising therapeutic potential in attenuating hyperlipidemia in mice through the regulation of lipid metabolism and modulation of gut microbiota. 展开更多

Formamidinium lead bromide(FAPbBr_(3))perovskite nanocrystals(NCs)are promising for display and lighting due to their ultra-pure green emission.However,the thermal quenching will exacerbate their performance degradation in practical applications,which is a common issue for halide perovskites.Here,we reported the heat-resistant FAPbBr_(3)NCs prepared by a ligand-engineered room-temperature synthesis strategy.An aromatic amine,specificallyβ-phenylethylamine(PEA)or 3-fluorophenylethylamine(3-F-PEA),was incoporated as the short-chain ligand to expedite the crystallization rate and control the size distribution of FAPbBr_(3)NCs.Employing this ligand engineering approach,we synthesized high quality FAPbBr_(3)NCs with uniform grain size and reduced long-chain alkyl ligands,resulting in substantially suppressed thermal quenching and enhanced carrier transportation in the perovskite NCs films.Most notably,more than 90%of the room temperature PL intensity in the 3-F-PEA modified FAPbBr_(3)NCs film was preserved at 380 K.Consequently,we fabricated ultra-pure green EL devices with a room temperature external quantum efficiency(EQE)as high as 21.9%at the luminance of above 1,000 cd m^(-2),and demonstrated less than 10%loss in EQE at 343 K.This study introduces a novel room temperature method to synthesize efficient FAPbBr_(3)NCs with exceptional thermal stability,paving the way for advanced optoelectronic device applications. 展开更多

Proton-conducting materials have attracted considerable interest because of their extensive application in energy storage and conversion devices.Among them,metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)present tremendous development potential and possibilities for constructing novel advanced proton conductors due to their special advantages in crystallinity,designability,and porosity.In particular,several special design strategies for the structure of MOFs have opened new doors for the advancement of MOF proton conductors,such as charged network construction,ligand functionalization,metal-center manipulation,defective engineering,guest molecule incorporation,and pore-space manipulation.With the implementation of these strategies,proton-conducting MOFs have developed significantly and profoundly within the last decade.Therefore,in this review,we critically discuss and analyze the fundamental principles,design strategies,and implementation methods targeted at improving the proton conductivity of MOFs through representative examples.Besides,the structural features,the proton conduction mechanism and the behavior of MOFs are discussed thoroughly and meticulously.Future endeavors are also proposed to address the challenges of proton-conducting MOFs in practical research.We sincerely expect that this review will bring guidance and inspiration for the design of proton-conducting MOFs and further motivate the research enthusiasm for novel proton-conducting materials. 展开更多

Carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorous (P) levels and their stoichiometry in plant components (leaves, branch trunks, roots) of trees in a karst forest and non-karst forest are compared. The results show that the C contents, C:N and C:P ratios of dominant species in the karst forest were lower than those in the non-karst forest, but the N and P and the N:P ratio were higher;C:N:P ratios in plant organs of trees in the karst forest were in the order of trunks>roots>branches>leaves. However, C:N:P ratio in the non-karst forest trees were trunks>branches>roots>leaves. Moreover, ratio of C:N:P in trunks was highest and lowest in leaves in both forests. In non-karst forest trees, N:P was in the order of leaves> roots>branches>trunks. There were no significant differences in the ratio of N:P in different plant components of trees in the karst forest. However, in karst and non-karst forest trees, the ratio of N:P in leaves was highest;positive correlations between N and P contents, and N and N:P ratios were observed in both karst and non-karst forests (p<0.001). Negative correlations between P and N:P ratios (p<0.05) were observed in karst forest trees, while positive correlations were observed in non-karst forest trees. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Epidemiological surveys on heart failure(HF)in Chinese community are relatively lacking.This study aimed to estimate the prevalence and incidence of HF among community residents in southern China.METHODS Baseline data of this prospective study was collected from 2015 to 2017 among 12,013 permanent residents aged≥35years in Guangzhou,China.The same survey process was carried out for individuals aged≥65 years after a three-year follow-up.RESULTS The overall prevalence of HF in community residents aged≥35 years was 1.06%.Male had significantly higher risk of HF prevalence[odds ratio(OR)=1.50,P=0.027].The gender-adjusted risk of HF was 1.48 times higher per 10 years aging.HF prevalence was statistically associated with atrial fibrillation,valvular heart disease,hypertension and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease after adjusting for age and gender(OR=8.30,5.17,1.11,2.28,respectively;all P<0.05).HF incidence in individuals aged≥65 years were 847 per 100,000 person-years.Baseline atrial fibrillation,valvular heart disease,and diabetes mellitus were risk factors for HF incidence for individuals aged≥65 years adjusting for age and gender(OR=5.05,3.99,2.11,respectively;all P<0.05).Besides,residents with new-onset atrial fibrillation and myocardial infarction were at significantly higher risk of progression to HF(OR=14.41,8.54,respectively;all P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS Both pre-existing and new-onset cardiovascular diseases were associated with HF incidence in southern China.Management of related cardiovascular diseases may be helpful to reduce the incidence of HF. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE To investigate the association between baseline hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c)levels and bleeding in patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome(NSTE-ACS)who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI).METHODS This observational cohort study enrolled 6283 consecutive NSTE-ACS patients undergoing PCI from January 1,2010 to December 31,2014.Based on baseline HbA1c levels,the patients were divided into the group with HbA1c<7%(n=4740)and the group with HbA1c≥7%(n=1543).The primary outcomes are major bleeding(BARC grades 3-5)and all-cause death during follow-up.RESULTS Of patients enrolled,4705(74.9%)were male,and 2143(34.1%)had a history of diabetes mellitus,with a mean(SD)age of 64.13(10.32)years.The median follow-up duration was 3.21 years.Compared with the patients with HbA1c<7%,the risk of major bleeding events during follow-up was higher in patients with HbA1c≥7%(adjusted hazard ratio[HR]=1.57;95%con-fidence interval[CI]:1.01-2.44;P=0.044),while the risk of all-cause death during follow-up was not associated with the higher HbA1c levels(adjusted HR=0.88;95%CI:0.66-1.18;P=0.398).CONCLUSIONS Compared with the lower baseline HbA1c levels,the higher baseline HbA1c levels were associated with an increase in long-term bleeding risk in NSTE-ACS patients undergoing PCI,though higher baseline HbA1c levels were not associ-ated with the higher risk in all-cause death. 展开更多

In this study,the structural characters,antioxidant activities and bile acid-binding ability of sea buckthorn polysaccharides(HRPs)obtained by the commonly used hot water(HRP-W),pressurized hot water(HRP-H),ultrasonic(HRP-U),acid(HRP-C)and alkali(HRP-A)assisted extraction methods were investigated.The results demonstrated that extraction methods had significant effects on extraction yield,monosaccharide composition,molecular weight,particle size,triple-helical structure,and surface morphology of HRPs except for the major linkage bands.Thermogravimetric analysis showed that HRP-U with filamentous reticular microstructure exhibited better thermal stability.The HRP-A with the lowest molecular weight and highest arabinose content possessed the best antioxidant activities.Moreover,the rheological analysis indicated that HRPs with higher galacturonic acid content and molecular weight showed higher viscosity and stronger crosslinking network(HRP-C,HRP-W and HRP-U),which exhibited stronger bile acid binding capacity.The present findings provide scientific evidence in the preparation technology of sea buckthorn polysaccharides with good antioxidant and bile acid binding capacity which are related to the structure affected by the extraction methods. 展开更多

Ultrasmall gold nanoparticles(AuNPs)typically includes atomically precise gold nanoclusters(AuNCs)and AuNPs with a core size below 3 nm.Serving as a bridge between small molecules and traditional inorganic nanoparticles,the ultrasmall AuNPs show the unique advantages of both small molecules(e.g.,rapid distribution,renal clearance,low non-specific organ accumulation)and nanoparticles(e.g.,long blood circulation and enhanced permeability and retention effect).The emergence of ultrasmall AuNPs creates significant opportunities to address many challenges in the health field including disease diagnosis,monitoring and treatment.Since the nano–bio interaction dictates the overall biological applications of the ultrasmall AuNPs,this review elucidates the recent advances in the biological interactions and imaging of ultrasmall AuNPs.We begin with the introduction of the factors that influence the cellular interactions of ultrasmall AuNPs.We then discuss the organ interactions,especially focus on the interactions of the liver and kidneys.We further present the recent advances in the tumor interactions of ultrasmall AuNPs.In addition,the imaging performance of the ultrasmall AuNPs is summarized and discussed.Finally,we summarize this review and provide some perspective on the future research direction of the ultrasmall AuNPs,aiming to accelerate their clinical translation. 展开更多

Escherichia coli O157:H7 is one of the major foodborne pathogenic bacterial that cause infectious diseases in humans.The previous found that a combination of kojic acid and tea polyphenols exhibited better activity against E.coli O157:H7 than using either alone.This study aimed to explore responses underlying the antibacterial mechanisms of kojic acid and tea polyphenols from the gene level.The functional enrichment analysis by comparing kojic acid and tea polyphenols individually or synergistically against E.coli O157:H7 found that acid resistance systems in kojic acid were activated,and the cell membrane and genomic DNA were destructed in the cells,resulting in“oxygen starvation”.The oxidative stress response triggered by tea polyphenols inhibited both sulfur uptake and the synthesis of ATP,which affected the bacteria's life metabolic process.Interestingly,we found that kojic acid combined with tea polyphenols hindered the uptake of iron that played an essential role in the synthesis of DNA,respiration,tricarboxylic acid cycle.The results suggested that the iron uptake pathways may represent a novel approach for kojic acid and tea polyphenols synergistically against E.coli O157:H7 and provided a theoretical basis for bacterial pathogen control in the food industry. 展开更多

In order to better understand the specific substituent effects on the electrochemical oxidation process of β-O-4 bond, a series of methoxyphenyl type β-O-4 dimer model compounds with different localized methoxyl groups, including 2-(2-methoxyphenoxy)-1-phenylethanone, 2-(2-methoxyphenoxy)-1-phenylethanol, 2-(2-methoxyphenoxy)-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethanone, 2-(2-methoxyphenoxy)-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethanol, 2-(2,6-dimethoxyphenoxy)-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethanone, 2-(2,6-dimethoxyphenoxy)-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethanol have been selected and their electrochemical properties have been studied experimentally by cyclic voltammetry, and FT-IR spectroelectrochemistry. Combining with electrolysis products distribution analysis and density functional theory calculations, oxidation mechanisms of all six model dimers have been explored. In particular, a total effect from substituents of both para-methoxy(on the aryl ring closing to Cα) and Cα-OH on the oxidation mechanisms has been clearly observed, showing a significant selectivity on the Cα-Cβbond cleavage induced by electrochemical oxidations. 展开更多

The severe dependence of traditional phase change materials(PCMs)on the temperature-response and lattice deficiencies in versatility cannot satisfy demand for using such materials in complex application scenarios.Here,we introduced metal ions to induce the self-assembly of MXene nanosheets and achieve their ordered arrangement by combining suction filtration and rapid freezing.Subsequently,a series of MXene/K^(+)/paraffin wax(PW)phase change composites(PCCs)were obtained via vacuum impregnation in molten PW.The prepared MXene-based PCCs showed versatile applications from macroscale technologies,successfully transforming solar,electric,and magnetic energy into thermal energy stored as latent heat in the PCCs.Moreover,due to the absence of binder in the MXene-based aerogel,MK3@PW exhibits a prime solar-thermal conversion efficiency(98.4%).Notably,MK3@PW can further convert the collected heat energy into electric energy through thermoelectric equipment and realize favorable solar-thermal-electric conversion(producing 206 mV of voltage with light radiation intensity of 200 mw cm^(−2)).An excellent Joule heat performance(reaching 105℃with an input voltage of 2.5 V)and responsive magnetic-thermal conversion behavior(a charging time of 11.8 s can achieve a thermal insulation effect of 285 s)for contactless thermotherapy were also demonstrated by the MK3@PW.Specifically,as a result of the ordered arrangement of MXene nanosheet self-assembly induced by potassium ions,MK3@PW PCC exhibits a higher electromagnetic shielding efficiency value(57.7 dB)than pure MXene aerogel/PW PCC(29.8 dB)with the same MXene mass.This work presents an opportunity for the multi-scene response and practical application of PCMs that satisfy demand of next-generation multifunctional PCCs. 展开更多

The fructose-to-furfural transformation is facing major challenges in the selectivity and high efficiency. Herein, we have developed a simple and effective approach for the selective conversion of fructose to furfural using Hβ zeolite modified by organic acids for dealuminization to regulate its textural and acidic properties. It was found that citric acid-dealuminized Hβ zeolite possessed high specific surface areas, wide channels and high Brønsted acid amount, which facilitated the selective conversion of fructose to furfural with a maximum yield of 76.2% at433 K for 1 h in the γ-butyrolactone(GBL)-H_(2)O system, as well as the concomitant formation of 83.0% formic acid. The^(13)C-isotope labelling experiments and the mechanism revealed that the selective cleavage of C1–C2 or C5–C6 bond on fructose was firstly occurred to form pentose or C5 intermediate by weak Brønsted acid, which was then dehydrated to furfural by strong Brønsted acid. Also this dealuminized Hβ catalyst showed the great recycling performance and was active for the conversion of glucose and mannose. 展开更多

Hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets(BNNSs)exhibit remarkable thermal and dielectric properties.However,their self-assembly and alignment in macroscopic forms remain challenging due to the chemical inertness of boron nitride,thereby limiting their performance in applications such as thermal management.In this study,we present a coaxial wet spinning approach for the fabrication of BNNSs/polymer composite fibers with high nanosheet orientation.The composite fibers were prepared using a superacid-based solvent system and showed a layered structure comprising an aramid core and an aramid/BNNSs sheath.Notably,the coaxial fibers exhibited significantly higher BNNSs alignment compared to uniaxial aramid/BNNSs fibers,primarily due to the additional compressive forces exerted at the core-sheath interface during the hot drawing process.With a BNNSs loading of 60 wt%,the resulting coaxial fibers showed exceptional properties,including an ultrahigh Herman orientation parameter of 0.81,thermal conductivity of 17.2 W m^(-1)K^(-1),and tensile strength of 192.5 MPa.These results surpassed those of uniaxial fibers and previously reported BNNSs composite fibers,making them highly suitable for applications such as wearable thermal management textiles.Our findings present a promising strategy for fabricating high-performance composite fibers based on BNNSs. 展开更多

Distinct from"rockingchair"lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),the unique anionic intercalation chemistry on the cathode side of dual-ion batteries(DIBs)endows them with intrinsic advantages of low cost,high voltage,and ecofriendly,which is attracting widespread attention,and is expected to achieve the next generation of large-scale energy storage applications.Although the electrochemical reactions on the anode side of DIBs are similar to that of LIBs,in fact,to match the rapid insertion kinetics of anions on the cathode side and consider the compatibility with electrolyte system which also serves as an active material,the anode materials play a very important role,and there is an urgent demand for rational structural design and performance optimization.A review and summarization of previous studies will facilitate the exploration and optimization of DIBs in the future.Here,we summarize the development process and working mechanism of DIBs and exhaustively categorize the latest research of DIBs anode materials and their applications in different battery systems.Moreover,the structural design,reaction mechanism and electrochemical performance of anode materials are briefly discussed.Finally,the fundamental challenges,potential strategies and perspectives are also put forward.It is hoped that this review could shed some light for researchers to explore more superior anode materials and advanced systems to further promote the development of DIBs. 展开更多

Properties of collective flow and pion production in intermediate-energy heavy-ion collisions with a relativistic quantum molecular dynamics model

The relativistic mean-field approach was implemented in the Lanzhou quantum molecular dynamics transport model(LQMD.RMF). Using the LQMD.RMF, the properties of collective flow and pion production were investigated systematically for nuclear reactions with various isospin asymmetries. The directed and elliptic flows of the LQMD.RMF are able to describe the experimental data of STAR Collaboration. The directed flow difference between free neutrons and protons was associated with the stiffness of the symmetry energy, that is, a softer symmetry energy led to a larger flow difference. For various collision energies, the ratio between the π^(-) and π^(+) yields increased with a decrease in the slope parameter of the symmetry energy. When the collision energy was 270 MeV/nucleon, the single ratio of the pion transverse momentum spectra also increased with decreasing slope parameter of the symmetry energy in both nearly symmetric and neutron-rich systems.However, it is difficult to constrain the stiffness of the symmetry energy with the double ratio because of the lack of threshold energy correction on the pion production. 展开更多

Secret key generation(SKG)is a promising solution to the problem of wireless communications security.As the first step of SKG,channel probing affects it significantly.Although there have been some probing schemes,there is a lack of research on the optimization of the probing process.This study investigates how to optimize correlated parameters to maximize the SKG rate(SKGR)in the time-division duplex(TDD)mode.First,we build a probing model which includes the effects of transmitting power,the probing period,and the dimension of sample vectors.Based on the model,the analytical expression of the SKGR is given.Next,we formulate an optimization problem for maximizing the SKGR and give an algorithm to solve it.We conclude the SKGR monotonically increases as the transmitting power increases.Relevant mathematical proofs are given in this study.From the simulation results,increasing appropriately the probing period and the dimension of the sample vector could increase the SKGR dramatically compared to a yardstick,which indicates the importance of optimizing the parameters related to the channel probing phase. 展开更多
