Resilient multi-objective mission planning for UAV formation:A unified framework integrating task pre-and re-assignment

Combat effectiveness of unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)formations can be severely affected by the mission execution reliability.During the practical execution phase,there are inevitable risks where UAVs being destroyed or targets failed to be executed.To improve the mission reliability,a resilient mission planning framework integrates task pre-and re-assignment modules is developed in this paper.In the task pre-assignment phase,to guarantee the mission reliability,probability constraints regarding the minimum mission success rate are imposed to establish a multi-objective optimization model.And an improved genetic algorithm with the multi-population mechanism and specifically designed evolutionary operators is used for efficient solution.As in the task-reassignment phase,possible trigger events are first analyzed.A real-time contract net protocol-based algorithm is then proposed to address the corresponding emergency scenario.And the dual objective used in the former phase is adapted into a single objective to keep a consistent combat intention.Three cases of different scales demonstrate that the two modules cooperate well with each other.On the one hand,the pre-assignment module can generate high-reliability mission schedules as an elaborate mathematical model is introduced.On the other hand,the re-assignment module can efficiently respond to various emergencies and adjust the original schedule within a millisecond.The corresponding animation is accessible at bilibili.com/video/BV12t421w7EE for better illustration. 展开更多

In order to improve the survivability of the aircraft,conceptual design and radar cross section(RCS) performance research are done. The CATIA software is used to design the 3D digital model of the shipborne early warning aircraft, and some measures are taken to reduce the RCS characteristics of the early warning aircraft at the same time. Based on the physical optics method and the equivalent electromagnetic flow method,the aircraft's RCS characteristics and strength distribution characteristics are simulated numerically, and compared with the foreign advanced shipborne early warning aircraft. The simulation results show that under the X radar band, when the incident wave pitching angle is 0?, compared with the foreign advanced shipborne early warning aircraft, the forward RCS average value of the conceptual shipborne early warning aircraft is reduced to 24.49%, the lateral RCS average value is reduced to 5.04%, and the backward RCS average value is reduced to 39.26%. The research results of this paper are expected to provide theoretical basis and technical support for the conceptual design and the stealth design of the shipborne early warning aircraft. 展开更多

An adaptive detector is derived for range-spread target based on a novel covariance matrix estimator. It is proved that the new detector is constant false alarm rate (CFAR) to both of the clutter covariance matrix structure and power level theoretically for match cases. The simulation results show that the new detector is almost CFAR for mismatch cases, and it outperforms the existing adaptive detector based on the sample covariance matrix. It also shows that the detection performance improves, as the number of pulses, the number of secondary data or the clutter spike increases. In addition, the derived detector is robust to different subsets, estimated clutter group sizes and correlations of clutter. Importantly, the number of iterations for practical application is just one. 展开更多

Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) navigating on the sea surface are usually required to complete the communication tasks in complex sea conditions. The movement forms and flow field characteristics of a multi-moving state AUV navigating in head sea at high speed were studied. The mathematical model on longitudinal motion of the high-speed AUV in head sea was established with considering the hydrodynamic lift based on strip theory, which was solved to get the heave and pitch of the AUV by Gaussian elimination method. Based on this, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method was used to establish the mathematical model of the unsteady viscous flow around the AUV with considering free surface effort by using the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations, shear-stress transport (SST) k-w model and volume of fluid (VOF) model. The three-dimensional numerical wave in the computational field was realized through defining the unsteady inlet boundary condition. The motion forms of the AUV navigating in head sea at high speed were carried out by the program source code of user-defined function (UDF) based on dynamic mesh. The hydrodynamic parameters of the AUV such as drag, lift, pitch torque, velocity, pressure and wave profile were got, which reflect well the real ambient flow field of the AUV navigating in head sea at high speed. The computational wave profile agrees well with the experimental phenomenon of a wave-piercing surface vehicle. The force law of the AUV under the impacts of waves was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively, which provides an effective theoretical guidance and technical support for the dynamics research and shape design of the AUV in real complex environnaent. 展开更多

The key issue is how to model such requirements to automate the process of analysis and assessment. This paper suggests a meta-model that defines both functional and non- functional features of SoS requirements for command and control, communication, computer, intelligence, surveillance reconnais- sance (C41SR) systems. A domain-specific modeling language is defined by extending unified modeling language (UML) con- structed of class and association with fuzzy theory in order to model the fuzzy concepts of performance requirements. An effi- ciency evaluation function is introduced, based on Bezier curves, to predict the effectiveness of systems. For the deficiency that the traditional single forecast methods could not forecast electronic equipment states, a combined forecast method based on the hidden Markov model(HMM) and least square support vector machine(LS-SVM) is presented. The multi-agent genetic algorithm(MAGA) is used to estimate parameters of HMM to overcome the problem that the Baum-Welch algorithm is easy to fall into local optimal solution. The state condition probability is introduced into the HMM modeling process to reduce the effect of uncertain factors. MAGA is used to estimate parameters of LS-SVM. Moreover, pruning algorithms are used to estimate parameters to get the sparse approximation of LS-SVM so as to increase the ranging performance. On the basis of these, the combined forecast model of electronic equipment states is established. The example results show the superiority of the combined forecast model in terms of forecast precision,calculation speed and stability. 展开更多

This paper compares the penetration capabilities of the same type anti-ship missiles with millimeter wave(MMW)seeker and centimeter wave seeker,and constructs mathematical models of penetration probability and saturation attack number for all anti-ship missiles used in the countermeasure system,according to the rule which makes the ship-borne air defence system oppase as far as possible and equally,and combining the actual combat situation.It can be seen,from analysis of the countermeasure process between anti-ship missile and surface naval ship,that for the same type of anti-ship missile with different seekers,the main influence on the penetration capability is from electronic jamming system.Based on the built model,the penetration capabilities of the same type anti-ship missiles with MMW and centimeter wave seekers are simulated.The simulated results show that the penetration capability of MMW seeker is slightly better than that of the centimeter wave seeker and its saturation attack number is also influenced by the discovering probability greatly.Finally,some suggestions to get superior penetration effect are given for a commander to choose seeker type suitably. 展开更多

The starting process of windmill before ignition is simulated using a radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) , and the acceleration process after ignition which model is a set of nonlinear equations is solved using a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. The introduction of PSO helped to tackle the problem of divergence caused by traditional iteration methods. The calculated result is in a great agreement with test data, which shows that the presented model has a high accuracy. The starting processes are simulated at different ignition times, and the results are analyzed synthetically. The analysis shows how the ignition time affects the starting performance of engine windmill. The method offers a useful tool for ignition time optimization as well as engine starting performance analysis. 展开更多

The tracking performance of the MF-Singer model is evaluated and compared with other manuevering tracking models. Multiple UAVs are usually deployed to provide robustness through redundancy and to accomplish surveillance,search,attack and rescue missions.Formation reconfiguration was inevitable during the flight when the mission was adjusted or the environment varied.Taking the typical formation reconfiguration from a triangular penetrating formation to a circular tracking formation for example,a path planning method based on Dubins trajectory and particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm is presented in this paper.The mathematic model of multiple UAVs formation reconfiguration was built firstly.According to the kinematic model of aerial vehicles,a process of dimensionality reduction was carried out to simplify the model based on Dubins trajectory.The PSO algorithm was adopted to resolve the optimization problem of formation reconfiguration path planning.Finally,the simulation and vehicles flight experiment are executed.Results show that the path planning method based on the Dubins trajectory and the PSO algorithm can generate feasible paths for vehicles on time,to guarantee the rapidity and effectiveness of formation reconfigurations.Furthermore,from the simulation results,the method is universal and could be extended easily to the path planning problem for different kinds of formation reconfigurations. 展开更多

Based on the target scatterer density, the range-spread target detection of high-resolution radar is addressed in additive non-Gaussian clutter, which is modeled as a spherically invariant random vector. Firstly, for sparse scatterer density, the detection of target scatterer in each range cell is derived, and then an M/K detector is proposed to detect the whole range-spread target. Se- condly, an integrating detector is devised to detect a range-spread target with dense scatterer density. Finally, to make the best of the advantages of M/K detector and integrating detector, a robust detector based on scatterer density (DBSD) is designed, which can reduce the probable collapsing loss or quantization error ef- fectively. Moreover, the density decision factor of DBSD is also determined. The formula of the false alarm probability is derived for DBSD. It is proved that the DBSD ensures a constant false alarm rate property. Furthermore, the computational results indi- cate that the DBSD is robust to different clutter one-lag correlations and target scatterer densities. It is also shown that the DBSD out- performs the existing scatterer-density-dependent detector. 展开更多

Interoperability plays an important role in the joint command, control, communication, computer, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance(C4 ISR) operations. Coordinating and integrating operational processes to fulfill a common mission are challenged by the ever-changing battlefield and hence requires a cross-organizational process management that produces an autonomous, flexible and adaptable architecture for collaborative process evolution. The traditional business process collaboration pattern is based on the predefined "public-view" perspective and cannot meet the requirement of the joint task operations. This paper proposes a flexible visibility control mechanism and a dynamic collaboration framework for modeling and generating collaborative processes. The mechanism allows collaborators to define a set of visibility rules to generate different views of the private processes for different collaborations, which gives a great flexibility for the collaboration initiator to decide on an appropriate collaboration pattern. The framework supports collaborators to dynamically and recursively add a new process or even a new organization to an existing collaboration. Moreover, a formal representation of the processes and a set of generation algorithms are provided to consolidate the proposed theory. 展开更多

From the theoretic analysis and simulation verification, it can be drawn that, for the estimation of chirp-rate and initial frequency, Pei's method [10] is more suitable if the absolute value of chirp-rate is small relatively; Ozaktas' method [9] is more suitable if the absolute value of chirp-rate is large relatively; and the two methods are both workable if the absolute value of chirp-rate is moderate. In order to recover the image and gain recognizable target, an approach to recover the space-variant blurred image is presented based on image segmentation. Be- cause of motion blur's convolution process, the pixels of observed image's target and background will be displaced and piled up to produce two superposition regions. As a result, the neighbor- ing pixels in the superposition regions will have similar grey level change. According to the pixel's motion-blur character, the target's blurred edge of superposition region could be detected. Canny operator can be recurred to detect the target edge which parallels the motion blur direction. Then in the segmentation process, the whole target image which has the character of integral convolution between motion blur and real target image can be obtained. At last, the target image is restored by deconvolution algorithms with adding zeros. The restoration result indicates that the approach can effectively solve the kind of problem of space-variant motion blurred image restoration. 展开更多

According to the infrared guidance ammunition(GA)attacking non-maneuvering targets on the ground or sea level,an improved bias proportional navigation(IBPN) is put forward,which can meet the constraints of the impact angle and the angle of attack(AOA). The motion equations and the collision triangle for the GA and the target are established in the two-dimensional plane. In accordance with the collision triangle, the integral value of the bias term is solved and BPN is designed on the basis of the relative velocity. To ensure the new method can be solved, closedloop equation of the IBPN is deduced. Considering the limitation of the AOA and the seeker angle, a four-phase IBPN is improved by setting different phases of the bias term. At the same time, the guidance law will make the impact angle achieve the desired angle and the normal acceleration also converges to zero. The simulation results show that the improved guidance law can be applied to various flight tasks and has great potential for engineering applications. 展开更多

This problem is crucial for radar-to-ESM track fusion and is complicated by the presence of individual systematic errors and measurement errors. In order to improve the track association of radar and ESM sensors, a pseudo-linear filtering algorithm is proposed to estimate the target states and improve the stability of the filter. It is found that, however, the correct probability of radar- to-ESM track association decreases as the radar measurement error decreases, when the pseudo-linear filter is used for ESM sensor filtering. In view of the strange phenomenon, this paper analyzes the reason for it by using the statistic theory and further performs Monte Carlo simulation to verify the analysis. 展开更多

The acceleration of a high maneuvering target in signal processing is helpful to enhance the performance of the tracker and facilitate the classification of targets. At present, most of the research on acceleration estimation is carried out in cases of a single target with time-frequency analysis methods such as fractional Fourier transform (FRFT), Hough-ambiguity transform (HAT), and Wigner-Vil e distribution (WVD), which need to satisfy enough time duration and sampling theorem. Only one reference proposed a method of acceleration estimation for multiple targets based on modified polynomial phase transform (MPPT) in the lin-ear frequency modulation (LFM) continuous-wave (CW) radar. The method of acceleration estimation for multiple targets in the pulse Doppler (PD) radar has not been reported so far. Compressive sensing (CS) has the advantage of sampling at a low rate and short duration without sacrificing estimation performance. There-fore, this paper proposes a new method of acceleration estimation for multiple maneuvering targets with the unknown number based on CS with pulse Doppler signals. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method under several conditions with different duration, measurement numbers, signal to noise ra-tios (SNR), and regularization parameters, respectively. Simulation results also show that the performance of the proposed method is superior to that of FRFT and HAT in the condition of multiple targets. 展开更多

A novel multi-observer passive localization algorithm based on the weighted restricted total least square (WRTLS) is proposed to solve the bearings-only localization problem in the presence of observer position errors. Firstly, the unknown matrix perturbation information is utilized to form the WRTLS problem. Then, the corresponding constrained optimization problem is transformed into an unconstrained one, which is a generalized Rayleigh quotient minimization problem. Thus, the solution can be got through the generalized eigenvalue decomposition and requires no initial state guess process. Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm can approach the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB), and the localization solution is asymptotically unbiased. 展开更多
