With appropriate geometry configuration, helicopter- borne rotating synthetic aperture radar (ROSAR) can break through the limitations of monostatic synthetic aperture radar (SAR) on forward-looking imaging. With this capability, ROSAR has extensive potential applications, such as self-navigation and self-landing. Moreover, it has many advantages if combined with the frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) technology. A novel geometric configuration and an imaging algorithm for helicopter-borne FMCW-ROSAR are proposed. Firstly, by per- forming the equivalent phase center principle, the separated trans- mitting and receiving antenna system is equalized to the case of system configuration with antenna for both transmitting and receiving signals. Based on this, the accurate two-dimensional spectrum is obtained and the Doppler frequency shift effect in- duced by the continuous motion of the platform during the long pulse duration is compensated. Next, the impacts of the velocity approximation error on the imaging algorithm are analyzed in de- tail, and the system parameters selection and resolution analysis are presented. The well-focused SAR image is then obtained by using the improved Omega-K algorithm incorporating the accurate compensation method for the velocity approximation error. FJnally, correctness of the analysis and effectiveness of the proposed al- gorithm are demonstrated through simulation results. 展开更多

To address the problem of building linear barrier coverage with the location restriction, an optimization method for deploying multistatic radars is proposed, where the location restriction splits the deployment line into two segments. By proving the characteristics of deployment patterns, an optimal deployment sequence consisting of multiple deployment patterns is proposed and exploited to cover each segment. The types and numbers of deployment patterns are determined by an algorithm that combines the integer linear programming(ILP)and exhaustive method(EM). In addition, to reduce the computation amount, a formula is introduced to calculate the upper threshold of receivers’ number in a deployment pattern. Furthermore, since the objective function is non-convex and non-analytic, the overall model is divided into two layers concerning two suboptimization problems. Subsequently, another algorithm that integrates the segments and layers is proposed to determine the deployment parameters, such as the minimum cost, parameters of the optimal deployment sequence, and the location of the split point. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively determine the optimal deployment parameters under the location restriction. 展开更多

Recently, the code division multiple access (CDMA) waveform exists in the large area across the world. However, when using the CDMA system as the illuminator of opportunity for the passive bistatic radar (PBR), there exists interference not only from the base station used as the illuminator of opportunity but also from other base stations with the same frequency. And be cause in the CDMA system, the signal transmitted by each base station is different, using the direct signal of one base station can not cancel the interference from other base stations. A CDMA based PBR using an element linear array antenna as both the reference antenna and surveillance antenna is introduced. To deal with the interference in this PBR system, an adaptive temporal cancellation algorithm is used to remove the interference from the base station used as the illuminator of opportunity firstly. And then a robust adaptive beamformer is used to suppress the interference from other base stations. Finally, the preliminary experiment re sults demonstrate the feasibility of using CDMA signals as a radar waveform. 展开更多

But how to determine the proper number of the models is a problem. This paper develops a variational Bayesian mixture of factor analyzers (VBMFA) model. This procedure can obtain a lower bound on the Bayesian integral using the Jensen's inequality. An analytical solution of the Bayesian integral could be obtained by a hypothesis that latent variables in the model are indepen- dent. During computing the parameters of the model, birth-death moves are utilized to determine the optimal number of model au- tomatically. Experimental results for measured data show that the VBMFA method has better recognition performance than FA and MFA method. 展开更多

A new method for array calibration of array gain and phase uncertainties, which severely degrade the performance of spatial spectrum estimation, is presented. The method is based on the idea of the instrumental sensors method (ISM), two well-calibrated sensors are added into the original array. By applying the principle of estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance techniques (ESPRIT), the direction-of-arrivals (DOAs) and uncertainties can be estimated simultaneously through eigen-decomposition. Compared with the conventional ones, this new method has less computational complexity while has higher estimation precision, what's more, it can overcome the problem of ambiguity. Both theoretical analysis and computer simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

A two-dimensional direction-of-arrival (DOA) and polarization estimation algorithm for coherent sources using a linear vector-sensor array is presented. Two matrices are first constructed by the receiving data. The ranks of the two matrices are only related to the DOAs of the sources and independent of their coherency. Then the source’s elevation is resolved via the matrix pencil (MP) method, and the singular value decomposition (SVD) is used to reduce the noise effect. Finally, the source’s steering vector is estimated, and the analytics solutions of the source’s azimuth and polarization parameter can be directly computed by using a vector cross-product estimator. Moreover, the proposed algorithm can achieve the unambiguous direction estimates, even if the space between adjacent sensors is larger than a half-wavelength. Theoretical and numerical simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. 展开更多

In this paper,a space-time adaptive processing(STAP)method is proposed for the airborne radar with the array amplitude-phase error considered,which is based on atomic norm minimization(ANM).In the conventional ANM-based STAP method,the influence of the array amplitude-phase error is not considered and restrained,which inevitably causes performance deterioration.To solve this problem,the array amplitude-phase error is firstly estimated.Then,by pre-estimating the array amplitude-phase error information,a modified ANM model is built,in which the array amplitude-phase error factor is separated from the clutter response and the clutter covariance matrix(CCM)to improve the estimation accuracy of the CCM.To prove that the atomic norm theory is applicable in the presence of the array amplitude-phase error,the clutter sparsity is analyzed in this paper.Meanwhile,simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method is superior to the state-of-the-art STAP method.Moreover,the measured data is used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

In order to deal with the particle degeneracy and impov- erishment problems existed in particle filters, a modified sequential importance resampling (MSIR) filter is proposed. In this filter, the resampling is translated into an evolutional process just like the biological evolution. A particle generator is constructed, which introduces the current measurement information (CMI) into the resampled particles. In the evolution, new particles are first pro- duced through the particle generator, each of which is essentially an unbiased estimation of the current true state. Then, new and old particles are recombined for the sake of raising the diversity among the particles. Finally, those particles who have low quality are eliminated. Through the evolution, all the particles retained are regarded as the optimal ones, and these particles are utilized to update the current state. By using the proposed resampling approach, not only the CMI is incorporated into each resampled particle, but also the particle degeneracy and the loss of diver- sity among the particles are mitigated, resulting in the improved estimation accuracy. Simulation results show the superiorities of the proposed filter over the standard sequential importance re- sampling (SIR) filter, auxiliary particle filter and unscented Kalman particle filter. 展开更多

Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems have become an important tool for fine-resolution mapping and other remote sensing operations. The multi-channel SAR ground moving-target indication (GMTI) must process its data to produce not only the image of surveillance area but also the information of the ground moving-targets. The topic of moving-target detection in clutter has been extensively studied, and there are many methods that are used to detect moving targets, such as displaced phase center antenna (DPCA) method, along-track interfero-metric (ATI) phase, space-time adaptive processing (STAP), or some other metrics. A canonical framework is proposed that encompasses all the multi-channel SAR-GMT methods, namely, DPCA and ATI. The statistical test metric for multi-channel SAR-GMTI is established in a simple form, via the definition of the complex central Wishart distribution, to deduce the statistics of the test metric, and the probability distribution of the test metric for multichannel SAR-GMTI has the complex central Wishart distribution of 1×1 case, namely the X^2 distribution. The theory foundation offers the possibility to construct the united multi-channel SAR-GMTI detector, and derives the constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detector tests for separating moving targets from clutter. 展开更多
