We study the dynamics of fundamental and double-pole breathers and solitons for the focusing and defocusing nonlinear Schrodinger equation with the sextic operator under non-zero boundary conditions. Our analysis mainly focuses onthe dynamical properties of simple- and double-pole solutions. Firstly, through verification, we find that solutions undernon-zero boundary conditions can be transformed into solutions under zero boundary conditions, whether in simple-pole ordouble-pole cases. For the focusing case, in the investigation of simple-pole solutions, temporal periodic breather and thespatial-temporal periodic breather are obtained by modulating parameters. Additionally, in the case of multi-pole solitons,we analyze parallel-state solitons, bound-state solitons, and intersecting solitons, providing a brief analysis of their interactions.In the double-pole case, we observe that the two solitons undergo two interactions, resulting in a distinctive “triangle”crest. Furthermore, for the defocusing case, we briefly consider two situations of simple-pole solutions, obtaining one andtwo dark solitons. 展开更多

We study a generalized higher-order nonlinear Schr¨odinger equation in an optical fiber or a planar waveguide.We obtain the Lax pair and N-fold Darboux transformation(DT)with N being a positive integer.Based on Lax pair obtained by us,we derive the infinitely-many conservation laws.We give the bright one-,two-,and N-soliton solutions,and the first-,second-,and Nth-order breather solutions based on the N-fold DT.We conclude that the velocities of the bright solitons are influenced by the distributed gain function,g(z),and variable coefficients in equation,h_(1)(z),p_(1)(z),r_(1)(z),and s_(1)(z)via the asymptotic analysis,where z represents the propagation variable or spatial coordinate.We also graphically observe that:the velocities of the first-and second-order breathers will be affected by h_(1)(z),p_(1)(z),r_(1)(z),and s_(1)(z),and the background wave depends on g(z). 展开更多

This paper aims to investigate the multi-soliton solutions of the coupled Lakshmanan–Porsezian–Daniel equations with variable coefficients under nonzero boundary conditions.These equations are utilized to model the phenomenon of nonlinear waves propagating simultaneously in non-uniform optical fibers.By analyzing the Lax pair and the Riemann–Hilbert problem,we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics and interactions of solitons of this system.Furthermore,we study the impacts of group velocity dispersion or the fourth-order dispersion on soliton behaviors.Through appropriate parameter selections,we observe various nonlinear phenomena,including the disappearance of solitons after interaction and their transformation into breather-like solitons,as well as the propagation of breathers with variable periodicity and interactions between solitons with variable periodicities. 展开更多

The octupole deformation and collectivity in octupole double-magic nucleus 144Ba are investigated using the Cranking covariant density functional theory in a three-dimensional lattice space.The reduced B(E3)transition probability is implemented for the first time in semiclassical approximation based on the microscopically calculated electric octupole moments.The available data,including the I-ωrelation and electric transitional probabilities B(E2)and B(E3)are well reproduced.Furthermore,it is shown that the ground state of 144Ba exhibits axial octupole and quadrupole deformations that persist up to high spins(I≈24h). 展开更多

Combining the mean field Pozhar-Gubbins(PG)theory and the weighted density approximation,a novel method for local thermal conductivity of inhomogeneous fluids is proposed.The correlation effect that is beyond the mean field treatment is taken into account by the simulation-based empirical correlations.The application of this method to confined argon in slit pore shows that its prediction agrees well with the simulation results,and that it performs better than the original PG theory as well as the local averaged density model(LADM).In its further application to the nano-fluidic films,the influences of fluid parameters and pore parameters on the thermal conductivity are calculated and investigated.It is found that both the local thermal conductivity and the overall thermal conductivity can be significantly modulated by these parameters.Specifically,in the supercritical states,the thermal conductivity of the confined fluid shows positive correlation to the bulk density as well as the temperature.However,when the bulk density is small,the thermal conductivity exhibits a decrease-increase transition as the temperature is increased.This is also the case in which the temperature is low.In fact,the decrease-increase transition in both the small-bulk-density and low-temperature cases arises from the capillary condensation in the pore.Furthermore,smaller pore width and/or stronger adsorption potential can raise the critical temperature for condensation,and then are beneficial to the enhancement of the thermal conductivity.These modulation behaviors of the local thermal conductivity lead immediately to the significant difference of the overall thermal conductivity in different phase regions. 展开更多

By using the numerical renormalization group(NRG)method,we construct a large dataset with about one million spectral functions of the Anderson quantum impurity model.The dataset contains the density of states(DOS)of the host material,the strength of Coulomb interaction between on-site electrons(U),and the hybridization between the host material and the impurity site(Γ).The continued DOS and spectral functions are stored with Chebyshev coefficients and wavelet functions,respectively.From this dataset,we build seven different machine learning networks to predict the spectral function from the input data,DOS,U,andΓ.Three different evaluation indexes,mean absolute error(MAE),relative error(RE)and root mean square error(RMSE),are used to analyze the prediction abilities of different network models.Detailed analysis shows that,for the two kinds of widely used recurrent neural networks(RNNs),gate recurrent unit(GRU)has better performance than the long short term memory(LSTM)network.A combination of bidirectional GRU(BiGRU)and GRU has the best performance among GRU,BiGRU,LSTM,and BiLSTM.The MAE peak of BiGRU+GRU reaches 0.00037.We have also tested a one-dimensional convolutional neural network(1DCNN)with 20 hidden layers and a residual neural network(ResNet),we find that the 1DCNN has almost the same performance of the BiGRU+GRU network for the original dataset,while the robustness testing seems to be a little weak than BiGRU+GRU when we test all these models on two other independent datasets.The ResNet has the worst performance among all the seven network models.The datasets presented in this paper,including the large data set of the spectral function of Anderson quantum impurity model,are openly available at https://doi.org/10.57760/sciencedb.j00113.00192. 展开更多

The Riemann–Hilbert approach is demonstrated to investigate the defocusing Lakshmanan–Porsezian–Daniel equation under fully asymmetric nonzero boundary conditions.In contrast to the symmetry case,this paper focuses on the branch points related to the scattering problem rather than using the Riemann surfaces.For the direct problem,we analyze the Jost solution of lax pairs and some properties of scattering matrix,including two kinds of symmetries.The inverse problem at branch points can be presented,corresponding to the associated Riemann–Hilbert.Moreover,we investigate the time evolution problem and estimate the value of solving the solutions by Jost function.For the inverse problem,we construct it as a Riemann–Hilbert problem and formulate the reconstruction formula for the defocusing Lakshmanan–Porsezian–Daniel equation.The solutions of the Riemann–Hilbert problem can be constructed by estimating the solutions.Finally,we work out the solutions under fully asymmetric nonzero boundary conditions precisely via utilizing the Sokhotski–Plemelj formula and the square of the negative column transformation with the assistance of Riemann surfaces.These results are valuable for understanding physical phenomena and developing further applications of optical problems. 展开更多

The extended kernel ridge regression(EKRR)method with odd-even effects was adopted to improve the description of the nuclear charge radius using five commonly used nuclear models.These are:(i)the isospin-dependent A^(1∕3) formula,(ii)relativistic continuum Hartree-Bogoliubov(RCHB)theory,(iii)Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov(HFB)model HFB25,(iv)the Weizsacker-Skyrme(WS)model WS*,and(v)HFB25*model.In the last two models,the charge radii were calculated using a five-parameter formula with the nuclear shell corrections and deformations obtained from the WS and HFB25 models,respectively.For each model,the resultant root-mean-square deviation for the 1014 nuclei with proton number Z≥8 can be significantly reduced to 0.009-0.013 fm after considering the modification with the EKRR method.The best among them was the RCHB model,with a root-mean-square deviation of 0.0092 fm.The extrapolation abilities of the KRR and EKRR methods for the neutron-rich region were examined,and it was found that after considering the odd-even effects,the extrapolation power was improved compared with that of the original KRR method.The strong odd-even staggering of nuclear charge radii of Ca and Cu isotopes and the abrupt kinks across the neutron N=126 and 82 shell closures were also calculated and could be reproduced quite well by calculations using the EKRR method. 展开更多

Let X and Y be two normed spaces.Let U be a non-principal ultrafilter on N.Let g:X→Y be a standard ε-phase isometry for someε≥ 0,i.e.,g(0)=0,and for all u.v ∈ X,||‖g(u)+g(v)‖±‖g(u)-g(v)‖|-|‖u+v‖±‖u-v‖| |≤ε.The mapping g is said to be a phase isometry provided that ε=0.In this paper,we show the following universal inequality of g:for each u^(*) ∈ w^(*)-exp ‖u^(*)‖B_(x^(*)),there exist a phase function σ_(u^(*)):X→{-1,1} and φ ∈ Y^(*) with ‖φ‖=‖u^(*)‖≡α satisfying that|(u^(*),u)-σ_(u^(*))(u)<φ,g(u)>)|≤5/2εα,for all u ∈ X.In particular,let X be a smooth Banach space.Then we show the following:(1) the universal inequality holds for all u^(*) ∈ X^(*);(2) the constant 5/2 can be reduced to 3/2 provided that Y~*is strictly convex;(3) the existence of such a g implies the existence of a phase isometryΘ:X→Y such that■ provided that Y^(**) has the w^(*)-Kadec-Klee property(for example,Y is both reflexive and locally uniformly convex). 展开更多

We study the phase,Larmor and dwell times of a particle scattered off triangular barriers(TBs).It is interesting that the dependences of dwell,reflective phase and Larmor times on the wave number,barrier width and height for a pair of mirror-symmetric(MS)exact triangular barriers(ETBs)are quite different,as the two ETBs have quite distinct scattering surfaces.In comparison,the dependence of the transmitted phase or Larmor times is exactly the same,since the transmitted amplitudes are the same for a pair of MS TBs.We further study the Hartman effect by defining the phase and Larmor velocities associated with the phase and Larmor times.We find no barrier width saturation effect for the transmitted and reflected times.This is indicated by the fact that all the velocities approach finite constants that are much smaller than the speed of light in vacuum for TBs with positive-slope impact faces.As for ETBs with vertical left edges,the naive velocities seem to also indicate the absence of the Hartman effect.These are quite distinct from rectangular barriers and may shed new light on the clarification of the tunneling time issues. 展开更多

Tungsten sulphoselenide(WSSe) alloys, belonging to the transition metal dichalcogenide family, have attracted significant interest in the area of optoelectronics because of their unique optical and electronic properties.However, there has been a dearth of sufficient research on the saturable absorption features and ultrafast lasers applications. Herein, we fabricated a WSSe-microfiber saturable absorber(SA) based on WSSe nanosheets prepared by liquid exfoliation technique. The SA provided a saturation intensity of a modulation depth of 27.95%and a nonsaturable loss of 21.34%. To investigate the potential applications of WSSe in ultrafast photonics, the prepared WSSe-microfiber was incorporated into an Er-doped fiber laser ring cavity. The results demonstrated that the WSSe-based SA successfully generated mode-locking laser pulses with a remarkably short pulse width of 231 fs. Furthermore, the output power of this ultrafast fiber laser reached an impressive value of 15.68 mW.These findings provide valuable views into the unique features of WSSe alloys in the areas of ultrafast optics and develop recipes for SA in ultrafast fiber lasers. 展开更多
