We theoretically investigate high-order harmonic generation(HHG) from a helium ion model in a two-color laser field,which is synthesized by a fundamental pulse and its second harmonic pulse.It is shown that a supercontinuum spectrum can be generated in the two-color field.However,the spectral intensity is very low,limiting the application of the generated attosecond(as) pulse.By adding a static electric field to the synthesized two-color field,not only is the ionization yield of electrons contributing to the harmonic emission remarkably increased,but also the quantum paths of the HHG can be significantly modulated.As a result,the extension and enhancement of the supercontinuum spectrum are achieved,producing an intense isolated 26-as pulse with a bandwidth of about 170.5 eV.In particular,we also analyse the influence of the laser parameters on the ultrabroad supercontinuum spectrum and isolated sub-30-as pulse generation. 展开更多

Based on density functional theory, we investigate the electronic and magnetic properties of semi-hydrogenated, fully hydrogenated monolayer and bilayer MoN2. We find that the AB stacking bilayer MoN2 exhibits ferromagnetic coupling of intralayer and antiferromagnetic coupling of interlayer, however, the ground states of the semi-hydrogenated, fully hydrogenated monolayer and AA stcaking bilayer MoN2 are nonmagnetic. The fully hydrogenated system has a quasidirect band-gap of 2.5 eV, which has potential applications in light-emitting diode and photovoltaics. The AB stacking bilayer MoN2 shows the Dirac cone at K point in BZ around Fermi energy. Furthermore, the interlayer of the AB stacking bilayer MoN2 is subjected to a weak van der Waals force, while the interlayer of the AA stacking forms N-N covalent bond. 展开更多

Combining first-principles calculations with the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm, we have explored the ground-state structure of Pd2N, whose structure is in debate although it is the first synthesized binary platinum group nitride. The ground-state structure is predicted to be tetragonal with space group P^-4m2, which is energetically more favorable than the previously proposed orthorhombic Co2N-type structure. The stability is confirmed by the subsequent calculations on the phonon dispersion curves and elastic constants. Furthermore, the calculated mechanical properties indicate that Pd2N has low incompressibility and is a common hard material. 展开更多

Generation of an extreme ultraviolet supercontinuum with a multicycle chirped laser and a static electric field

We theoretically present a method for generating an ultrabroad extreme ultraviolet (XUV) supercontinuum by using the combination of a multicycle chirped laser and a static electric field. At a low laser intensity, the spectral cutoff is extended to the 495th order harmonic, and the bandwidth of the supercontinuum spectrum is broadened to 535 eV. At a high laser intensity, the harmonic cutoff is enlarged to the 667th order, and a supercontinuum covering a bandwidth of 1035 eV is generated. In these two cases, the long quantum path is removed, and the short quantum path is selected. Especially for the relatively high laser intensity, an isolated 23-attosecond pulse with a bandwidth of about 170.6 eV is directly obtained. Finally, we also analyze the influences of the chirp parameter and the duration of the chirped pulse as well as the static field strength on the supereontinuum. 展开更多

We have extensively explored the ground-state structure of RuC using the particle swarm optimization algorithm for crystal structural prediction. A hexagonal I:t-3m structure has been proposed ms the best candidate, which is energetically more favorable than the previously proposed zinc blend structure. The R-3m-RuC possesses alternative stacking of double hexagonal close-packed Ru atom layers and C atom layers, and it is dynamically stable evidenced by the calculation of phonon dispersion. The calculated large bulk modulus, shear modulus, and elastic constant C44 reveal that it is an ultra-incompressible and hard material. The evidence of strong covalent bonding of Ru C, which plays an important role to form a hard material, is manifested by the partial densities of states analysis. 展开更多

A simple type of photonic crystal fiber (PCF) for supercontinuum generation is proposed for the first time. The proposed PCF is composed of a solid silica core and a cladding with square lattice uniform elliptical air holes, which offers not only a large nonlinear coefficient but also a high birefringence and low leakage losses. The PCF with nonlinear coefficient as large as 46 W-1 · km-1 at the wavelength of 1.55 um and a total dispersion as low as ±2.5 ps. nm-1 · km -1 over an ultra-broad waveband range of the S-C-L band (wavelength from 1.46 um to 1.625 um) is optimized by adjusting its structure parameter, such as the lattice constant A, the air-filling fraction f, and the air-hole ellipticity η. The novel PCF with ultra-flattened dispersion, highly nonlinear coefficient, and nearly zero negative dispersion slope will offer a possibility of efficient super-continuum generation in telecommunication windows using a few ps pulses. 展开更多

We present a theoretical investigation of high-order harmonic generation in a chirped two-color laser field, which is synthesized by a 10-fs/800-nm fundamental chirped pulse and a 10-fs/1760-nm subharmonic pulse. It is shown that a supercontinuum can be produced using the multicycle two-color chirped field. However, the supercontinuum reveals a strong modulation structure, which is not good for the generation of an isolated attosecond pulse. By adding a static electric field to the multicycle two-color chirped field, not only the harmonic cutoff is extended remarkably, but also the quantum paths of the high-order harmonic generation (HHG) are modified significantly. As a result, both the extension of the supercontinuum and the selection of a single quantum path are achieved, producing an isolated 23-as pulse with a bandwidth of about 170.6 eV. Furthermore, the influences of the laser intensities on the supercontinuum and isolated attosecond pulse generation are investigated. 展开更多

Local structure distortion and spin Hamiltonian parameters for Cr^(3+)-V_(Zn) tetragonal defect centre in Cr^(3+) doped KZnF_3 crystal

The quantitative relationship between the spin Hamiltonian parameters (D, g|| Ag) and the crystal structure parameters for the Cr3+-Vzη tetragonal defect centre in a Cr3+ :KZnF3 crystal is established by using the superposition model. On the above basis, the local structure distortion and the spin Hamiltonian parameter for the Cr3+-Vzn tetragonal defect centre in the KZnF3 crystal are systematically investigated using the complete diagonalization method. It is found that the Vzn vacancy and the differences in mass, radius and charge between the Cr3+ and the Zn2+ ions induce the local lattice distortion of the Cr3+ centre ions in the KZnF3 crystal. The local lattice distortion is shown to give rise to the tetragonal crystal field, which in turn results in the tetragonal zero-field splitting parameter D and the anisotropic g factor Ag. We find that the ligand F- ion along I001] and the other five F- ions move towards the central Cr3+ by distances of A1 = 0.0121 nm and A2 = 0.0026 nm, respectively. Our approach takes into account the spin-rbit interaction as well as the spin-spin, spin other-orbit, and orbit-rbit interactions omitted in the previous studies. It is found that for the Cr3+ ions in the Cr3+:KZnF3 crystal, although the spin-rbit mechanism is the most important one, the contribution to the spin Hamiltonian parameters from the other three mechanisms, including spin- spin, spin-other-orbit, and orbit-orbit magnetic interactions, is appreciable and should not be omitted, especially for the zero-field splitting (ZFS) parameter D. 展开更多

It is found to be related to the transient behaviour of atoms after colliding with the wall and the distribution of the field inside the vapour corresponds to L/λ, with L the thickness of the film and λ the incident wavelength. We find that the sub-Doppler structure is manifest both for normal incidence and small angle oblique incidence, It is feasible to detect the real part of selective reflection in several cases that have not been achieved before. 展开更多

In this paper we investigate spatiotemporal pattern formation in excitable media with only a long-range link. Besides the trivial solutions of spiral patterns, we find the asymptotic self-sustained target waves in the autonomous tissues. The wave source supporting this kind of new pattern is the oscillatory one-dimensional Winfree-loop self- organized under the presence of a long-range link, which is explored by the dominant phase-advanced driving method. Based on this understanding we can effectively regulate the oscillations of excitable media by suitably arranging the long-range link, including construction of self-sustained target waves with controllable period and wave length, or manipulation of system states between different patterns. 展开更多
