A total of 181 species(including subspecies and varieties),82 genera and 31 families of wild vines were reported from Longwangshan National Nature Reserve,Zhejiang Province.Among them,38 species were herby vine(21.0% ...A total of 181 species(including subspecies and varieties),82 genera and 31 families of wild vines were reported from Longwangshan National Nature Reserve,Zhejiang Province.Among them,38 species were herby vine(21.0% of the total) and the others were woody vine(79.0%).According to their climbing habits,vines in this area were classified into 4 types,(i.e.) twining vines(45.9% of the total),adhering vines(7.2%),curling vines(17.1%) and hooking vines(29.8%). A statistic result indicated that in this area there were 6 preponderant vine families(≥10 species) consisting of Ranunculaceae,Rosaceae,Leguminosae,Celastraceae,Vitaceae,Rubiaceae,and eight dominant vine genera(≥5 species) including Rubus,Clematis,Smilax,Rosa,Actinidia,Vicia,Vitis,Cynanchum.Potential utilization values of those wild vines for urban vertical greening were discussed in this paper.展开更多

The clustering results suggested that all 11 species were clustered into 2 sections. The cluster one includes M. thunbergii, M. thunbergii var. linlongshanensis, M. phoenicis and M. litseifolia, and the cluster two includes M. pauhoi, M. leptophylla, M. chekiangensis, M. longipedunculata,M. oreophila, M. velutina and M. grijsii. There was the closest relationship between M. chekiangensis and M. longipedunculata, and M. thunbergii and M. thunbergii var. linlongshanensis illustrated the second closer relationship. In the principal components analysis, the cumulative contribution rate rose fast and that of the first five principal components came up to 83.73%. The hairs on organs were the first principal components. Based on the relationship of the characters, there was the biggest correlation among the hairs on organs of the genus Machilus.展开更多

All growing periods of bamboo from shoots to groves and to maturity, its shadow in the sunshine and moonlight, and its form and appearance under the weathers of wind, rain, thunder and snow, have been extolled and portrayed by poets and painters. The biological characters of bamboo, such as the nodes, empty center and cold resistant are connected to human personalities and moralities respectively implying polite, modest and fairness. And there are also many legends and allusions about bamboo, like the mottled bamboo in connection with Xiang Concubine, the Moso bamboo referring to Meng Zong’s filial piety to his mother, green plums and a bamboo horse for a friendship formed in childhood, and bamboo’s connection to a well-thought-out plan. Thus the profound spiritual symbol and cultural and humanist connotations arise.展开更多
