The students taught were second-year non-English majors from X university a...The present paper is a reflection on a teaching practice which employed second language acquisition(SLA) theories and teaching methodologies. The students taught were second-year non-English majors from X university and the course book used was New Horizon College English: Reading and Writing(3 rd edition). SLA theories involved include Input Hypothesis, Noticing Hypothesis and Comprehensible Output Hypothesis; teaching methodologies applied include Grammar-Translation Method,Communicative Language Teaching and Task Based Language Teaching(TBLT). After a semester-long teaching practice, the present reflection was completed after a deep discussion with the teacher. Students description, teaching process, and merits and demerits of this practice were illustrated.展开更多

It isexpected to inspire teachers to pay more attention to the oral teaching, to raise students' interest in oral English learning, which inturn achieve the goal of the senior English curriculum standards, in that one can state the opinion and exchange it with others whentalk about the common topic in daily life. These kinds of talents are supposed to master academic knowledge of economy and trade as well as the related business knowledge. Moreover, they should have excellent competences of expressing themselves orally in foreign language. English is the popular language that is used in international communication. All English majors in Liuzhou City Vocational College (LCVC) are majoring in Business English. According to some research, one of the weakest abilities of business major is spoken English. Hence, it becomes an important task for teachers to enhance students' spoken English competence on business. This article is talking about this teaching condition and to make some analyzes and put forward some reform suggestions based on the investigation.展开更多
