China has a large solid waste stockpile and a low resource utilisation rate,and the utilisation of solid waste resources is of great significance in promoting sustainable social development.In order to further promote the green and efficient development of China's road field,an overview of the current status of the application,research progress,hot frontiers,problems and their countermeasures based on the three aspects of industrial solid wastes,engineering solid wastes and municipal solid wastes in highway engineering was conducted,and the development prospect of the resourceful utilisation of solid waste in highway engineering was outlooked,with a view to promoting the development of China's green roads.Statistics on the stockpile,utilisation and comprehensive utilisation rate of industrial solid wastes in China are presented,and the optimal mixing amount,production process and application technology of industrial solid wastes for road base materials are systematically summarised.Based on the concept of high-value utilisation of solid waste,the mechanical properties,durability,construction technology and quality control standards of engineering solid waste applied in roadbed engineering are summarised,and the difficulties in the application of engineering solid waste in road engineering are summarised.Finally,the feasibility,mechanical properties and environmental characteristics of municipal solid waste domestic waste incinerator slag,waste tyres and plastics applied in road engineering are summarised.This review can provide references and lessons for the design and development of green roads,and promote the innovation and development of greening road engineering. 展开更多

Proper solid waste disposal is an important socioeconomic concern for all developing countries.Municipalities have their own policies,individual approaches and methods to manage the solid wastes.They consider wastelands outside the urban area as the best suitable for the solid waste disposal.Such improper site selection will create morphological changes that lead to environmental hazards in the urban and its surrounding areas.In this research,the site selection for urban solid waste disposal in the Coimbatore district used geographical information system(GIS)and multi-criteria decision analysis(MCDA).Thematic layers of lineament density,landuse/landcover,population density,groundwater depth,drainage density,slope,soil texture,geology and geomorphology were considered as primary criteria and weights for criteria,and sub-criteria were assigned by MCDA analysis.The resultant weight score was validated by consistency ratio so that the efficiency of the selected criteria was justified.The overlay analysis in GIS environment provides 17 potential zones in Coimbatore district,among which,four suitable sites were screened and refined with the help of field investigation and visual interpretation of satellite image.The result of landfill suitability map shows the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

Silver ion can be useful in improving chalcopyrite bioleaching efficiency.In this work,leaching kinetics of this process was investigated using silver-bearing solid waste under different chalcopyrite/solid waste ratios.Bioleaching behavior indicates that silver-bearing solid waste can enhance the bioleaching process,and the redox potential is much higher than the proposed appropriate range(380−480 mV vs Ag/AgCl)with the solid waste added.There is a positive correlation between temperature and copper extraction rate.The kinetics data fit well with the shrinking-core model.Under these leaching conditions,the bioleaching of chalcopyrite is controlled by internal diffusion with calculated apparent activation energy(Ea)of 28.24 kJ/mol.This work is possible benificial to promote the industrial application of silver catalyst in leaching of chalcopyrite. 展开更多

To analyze the feasibility of utilization of thermal technology in fly ash treatment, thermal properties and microstructures of municipal solid waste incineration (MSW1) fly ash were studied by measuring the chemical element composition, specific surface area, pore sizes, functional groups, TEM image, mineralogy and DSC-TG curves of raw and sintered fly ash specimens. The results show that MSWI fly ash particles mostly have irregular shapes and non-typical pore structure, and the supersonic treatment improves the pore structure; MSWI fly ash consists of Such crystals as SiO2, CaSO4 and silica-aluminates, and some soluble salts like KCl and NaCl. During the sintering process, mineralogy changes largely and novel solid solutions are produced gradually with the rise of temperature. Therefore, the utilization of a proper thermal technology not only destructs those persistent organic toxicants but also stabilizes hazardous heavy metals in MSWI fly ash. 展开更多

The mechanism of removing phosphate by MSWI(municipal solid waste incineration)fly ash was investigated by SEM(scanning electron microscopy)with EDS(energy dispersion spectrum),XRD(X-ray diffraction),FT-IR(Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy),BET(specific surface area),and BJH(pore size distribution).The results indicate that the removal rate of phosphate(100 mg/L)in 50 mL phosphorus wastewater reaches at 99.9% as the dosage of MSWI fly ash being 0.9000 g under room temperature.The specific surface area of MSWI fly ash is less than 6.1 m2/g and the total pore volume is below 0.021 cm3/g,suggesting that the absorption capacity of calcite is too weak to play an important role in phosphate removal.SEM images show that drastic changes had taken place on its specific surface shape after reaction,and EDS tests indicate that some phosphate precipitates are formed and attached onto MSWI fly ash particles.Chemical precipitation is the main manner of phosphate removal and the main reaction is: 3Ca2++2 PO4 3-+xH2O→Ca3(PO4)2↓·xH2O.Besides,XRD tests show that the composition of MSWI fly ash is complex,but CaSO4 is likely to be the main source of Ca2+.The soluble heavy metals in MSWI fly ash are stabilized by phosphate. 展开更多

Dioxins, which are of the most toxic materials on the earth, are principal emitted from waste incineration process. The molecular structures, toxicity parameters, such as toxicity equivalency factor, tolerable daily intake and physic-chemical properties of dioxins are briefly summarized. Three formation mechanisms of dioxins in waste incineration process, namely as de novo synthesis, mechanisms involving small organic molecular as precursors and homogenous gas phase reaction mechanism are alto reviewed. The influencing factors for dioxins formation during waste incineration process are also discussed. Three major methods for reducing dioxins emission from waste incineration process are discussed based upon the formation mechanisms and influencing factors. A new waste incineration process with low dioxins emission and low hydrogen chloride corrosion has been proposed based on multi- stage unit operation principal according to formation mechanisms of dioxins and potential production location in waste incinerators. 展开更多

For the resource utilization of the solid waste coking sulfur paste and the improvement of performance of the asphalt mixture,a method for preparing modified asphalt mixture with coking sulfur paste modifier(CSPM)is herein proposed.Compared with the matrix asphalt mixture,the Marshall stability of the 30%CSPM modified asphalt mixture increased by 38.3%,the dynamic stability increased by nearly one time(reaching 1847.5 times/mm),the splitting strength ratio increased by 39.3%while the splitting tensile strength decreased by 11.7%.After curing,the performance of the CSPM modified asphalt mixture was further improved.The results show that CSPM improved the high temperature stability and water damage resistance of the asphalt mixture,and the low-temperature anti-cracking performance of that was slightly reduced.Chemical analysis of asphalt binders shows that a little sulfur reacted with asphalt to produce polysulfide compounds(R-Sx-R′),and a part of sulfur existed in the form of crystalline sulfur which was further increased after curing.The presence of crystalline sulfur as an inorganic filler is the key point for improving the high temperature stability and water resistance performance of modified asphalt mixture. 展开更多

Municipal solid waste (MSW) and its disposal are gaining significant importance in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering. However, conventional research is primarily focused on fresh MSW or MSW that is compacted under its own weight in the landfill. In this work, a series of tests to study the properties of a densified MSW after ground treatment were presented. The tests involved oedometer test, simple shear test, triaxial shear test, and permeability test, which were conducted to investigate the compressibility, shear strength, creep behavior and permeability of the MSW. The results show that the compressibility modulus of the MSW increases as the dry density increases. However, the influence of density on modulus decreases once the density reaches a certain value. Like most soils, the stress-strain curve of the densified MSW can be approximated by a hyperbola in the triaxial shear test. Fibrous components provide additional cohesion for MSW, but have a relatively smaller effect on friction angle. Permeability is also found to be closely related to the dry density of the MSW, i.e., MSW with a higher dry density has a smaller permeability. The permeability coefficient may be less than 10 7 cm/s if the density is high enough. 展开更多

Based on the degradation characteristics of municipal solid waste(MSW)in China,the traditional anaerobic sequencing batch bioreactor landfill(ASBRL)was optimized,and an improved anaerobic sequencing batch bioreactor landfill(IASBRL)was put forward on the basis of leachate self-recirculation.By monitoring MSW composition,leachate characteristics variation and landfill gas(LFG)generation,the effect of IASBRL was comparatively studied by simulation landfill.Based on the adjusting,scouring and carrying effects of leachate self-recirculation,IASBRL can rapidly decrease Eh value to about-500mV and form a suitable biochemical environment for methanogens,which provides a precondition for stable cooperation between non-methanogens and methanogens.IASBRL can avoid the accumulation of organic acids,make VFA(volatile fatty acid)concentration and CODCr decrease along with the small range fluctuations,and form a stable decomposition-consumption synergy during MSW degradation,therefore,the hydrolysis rate of easy hydrolyze material reaches 71.2% in IASBRL.From the viewpoint of LFG resources in IASBRL,the cumulative LFG production increases to 2327.0L,CH4 mass fraction stabilizes at about 50%,and these provide a favorable precondition for LFG development. 展开更多

Rural vitalization is a major strategy for reform and development of agriculture and rural areas in China,the key task of which is improving rural living environment.Imperfect rural solid waste(RSW)collection and transportation system exacerbates the pollution of RSW to rural living environment,while it has not been established and improved in the cold region of Northern China due to climate and economy.Through the analysis of the current situation of RSW source separation,collection,transportation and disposal in China,an RSW collection and transportation system suitable for the northern cold region was developed.Considering the low winter temperature in the northern cold region,different requirements for RSW collection,transportation and terminal disposal,scattered source points and single terminal disposal nodes in rural areas,the study focused on determining the number and location of transfer stations,established a model for transfer stations selection and RSW collection and transportation routes optimization for RSW collection and transportation system,and proposed the elite retention particle swarm optimization–genetic algorithm(ERPSO–GA).The rural area of Baiquan County was taken as a representative case,the collection and transportation scheme of which was given,and the feasibility of the scheme was clarified by simulation experiment. 展开更多

Modeling and motion control simulation of tendon based parallel manipulator translation mechanism for sensor based high value waste processing

A novel sorting system based on one degree of freedom (DOF) tendon based parallel manipulator (TBPM) for high value waste processing was presented and designed. In order to control the motion of loads, nonlinear state feed forward control algorithm in the tendon length coordinate was used. Considering the system redundancy and actuation behavior, algorithms of optimal tension distribution and forward kinematics were designed. Then, the simulation experiments of motion control were implemented. The results demonstrate that the proposed TBPM translation system performs robust capacities. It can transfer the loads 1 m away within 1.5 s. With further optimization, the translation duration can be further reduced to be about 1 s and the optimized translation is followed with 43.59 m/s2 maximum acceleration. The translation errors at the aim position remain below 0.4 mm. 展开更多

针对城市固废焚烧(municipal solid waste incineration, MSWI)过程中能够表征燃烧过程是否稳定的关键工业参数--一氧化碳(carbon monoxide, CO)排放浓度的动态时变特性,提出基于固定窗漂移检测的MSWI过程CO排放建模方法。首先,基于历... 针对城市固废焚烧(municipal solid waste incineration, MSWI)过程中能够表征燃烧过程是否稳定的关键工业参数--一氧化碳(carbon monoxide, CO)排放浓度的动态时变特性,提出基于固定窗漂移检测的MSWI过程CO排放建模方法。首先,基于历史数据集采用k-means算法获取典型样本池(typical sample pool, TSP),构建基于长短期记忆(long short-term memory, LSTM)神经网络的离线预测模型和基于核主成分分析(kernel principal component analysis, KPCA)的漂移指标计算模型。然后,针对每个在线采集样本,在预设定固定窗口未填满时基于历史LSTM神经网络模型进行在线预测,在预设定固定窗口填满时采用历史KPCA模型进行漂移检测。最后,利用指标霍特林统计量T2和平方预测误差(squared prediction error, SPE)判断是否产生漂移。若未产生漂移,则返回至新窗口期;若产生漂移,则合并历史数据和漂移数据以更新TSP、LSTM模型和KPCA模型。工业现场实际数据的仿真验证了所提方法的合理性和有效性。 展开更多

提出一种基于城市生活垃圾火焰辐射光谱的典型可燃组分含量在线预测新方法。实验对象为包括3种纸,4种生物质,3种纤维,2种果皮以及3种塑料在内的15种典型可燃组分,同时测量其在不同温度下的火焰辐射光谱。基于多变量最小化方法,通过拟合... 提出一种基于城市生活垃圾火焰辐射光谱的典型可燃组分含量在线预测新方法。实验对象为包括3种纸,4种生物质,3种纤维,2种果皮以及3种塑料在内的15种典型可燃组分,同时测量其在不同温度下的火焰辐射光谱。基于多变量最小化方法,通过拟合某700t/d生活垃圾焚烧炉中燃烧火焰450~500nm波段内的光谱,可得到燃烧火焰的温度和发射率。利用该温度下每种可燃组分的火焰光谱,对各组分在燃烧垃圾中所占的比例进行反演。结果表明,城市生活垃圾的燃烧火焰光谱主要以粒子的热发射以及Na和K的原子发射主导;通过光谱拟合获得的温度高于热电偶测量温度;利用典型组分的火焰光谱可以很好地表征混合城市生活垃圾燃烧的火焰光谱,并获得典型组分的比例,其中瓦楞纸和木材的平均比例均超过10%,占据主导地位,塑料类的总体比例约为20%;基于各可燃组分比例计算得到的表观热值与机组功率成线性关系。文中开发的新方法能够在线并且准确地获取焚烧炉中城市生活垃圾组分信息,对改善和提高城市生活垃圾燃烧控制性能具有重要的意义。 展开更多

In recent years,composite pellet production with added reductant has been developed instead of traditional iron production.Composite pellets produced by the addition of appropriate proportions of reductant produce sponge iron in the reductant melting process at high temperatures.The elements created in the structure by pellet production directly affect the quality of the product obtained by determining the chemical composition and the appropriate reaction temperature.In this study,sponge iron ore concentrate(scale)and reductant(coke coal dust and sodium bentonite)were mixed at certain proportions to produce composite pellet samples;the effects of addition rate of the reductant material of sodium bentonite(1 wt%−4 wt%)and variation in reaction temperature(900−1200℃)on the metallization and compressive strength properties of the produced composite pellet samples were investigated.The analysis results show that the highest compressive strength is obtained from pellet samples produced with 3%sodium bentonite at 1100℃.Additionally,SEM-EDS analysis results of the samples show that the morphologic structure has much lower porosity rates compared to samples produced under the other conditions which makes the samples denser and increases the metallization properties. 展开更多
