The simulation results show that the weld seam undergoes strain hardening in the temperature range of 180-250 ℃, however, it exhibits strain softening at temperature above 250 ℃ during welding heating and cooling process. As a result, the strain hardening and strain softening effects counteract each other, introducing slightly influence on the welding residual stress, residual plastic strain and distortion. The model can be used to describe strain softening behaviour of sand under monotonic loading when the similarity-ratio equals to unity. The characteristics of the model are as follows: 1) A reverse bullet-shaped yield surface is adopted to ensure accurate prediction of the behavior of sand, instead of bullet-shaped or elliptical yield surface in Cam-Clay model. 2) No unique relationship between void ratio and the mean normal stress for sand prevents the direct coupling of yield surface size to void ratio, so incremental deviatoric strain hardening rule is used. 3) The model combines the concept of state-dependent dilatancy by incorporating state parameter in Rowe's stress dilatancy equation, which accounts for the dependence of dilatancy on the stress state and the material internal state. A single set of model constants, which is calibrated, can simulate stress-strain response under different initial void ratios and different confine pressures. The model is validated true by comparing predicted results with experimental results under monotonic and cyclic loading conditions.展开更多

This model makes the physical property of model parameters explicit, contains only conventional mechanical parameters, and leads its application more convenient. Finally, the rationality of this model and its parameters-determining method were identified via comparative analyses between theoretical and experimental curves.展开更多

Hoek-Brown criterion is adopted as the yielding criterion of rock mass. Damage factors are proposed to account for degradation of the material parameters to reflect the degree of strain softening. The surrounding rock mass around the cavity is divided into three regions: elastic region, strain softening region and residual state region. The analytical solutions of stress, strain, displacement and radius of each region are obtained. The effects of the strain softening and shear dilatancy behavior on the results are investigated with parametric studies. The results show that the radii of the residual state region and strain softening region in the surrounding rock mass with higher damage degree are larger. The radii of the residual state region and strain softening region are 1-2 times and 1.5-3 times of the cavity radius, respectively. The radial and tangential stresses decrease with the increase of the damage factor. The displacement of the cavity wall for the case with maximum plastic bulk strain is nearly twice than that with no dilation. Rock mass moves more toward the center for the case with larger damage factor and shear dilation. The area of the plastic region is larger when the damage factors are considered. The displacements in the surrounding rock mass increase with the increase of the damage factors and shear dilation factors. The solutions can be applied to the stability analysis and support design of the underground excavation.展开更多

In addition, a unique hardening function between the plastic strain energy and the instantaneous stress path was also presented, which was independent of stress history. The proposed state parameter and hardening function was directly verified by the simple numerical integration method. It is shown that the proposed hardening function is independent of stress history and stress path and is appropriate to be used as the hardening rule in constitutive modeling for dense sand, and it is also capable of simulating the effects on the de-formation characteristics of stress history and stress path for dense sand.展开更多

The effects of dynamic cooling pre-aging treatment on mechanical properties and paint-bake hardening behavior of an Al-Mg-Si alloy sheet are proposed in this study. The scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, tensile test, Vickers hardness test, and differential scanning calorimetry were conducted for the purpose. It was found that the dynamic cooling pre-aging treatment at low temperature region led to the decreasing of cluster II, resulting in the deterioration of the ability of the paint-bake hardening. With the increase of the cooling pre-aging temperature, the increasing of cluster II effectively improved the stability against natural aging and the paint-bake hardening ability. The optimized dynamic cooling pre-aging temperature was ~150 ℃. In this condition, the hardness increase of the alloy sheet with pre-aging treatment is low during storage at room temperature. The high yield strength increment is obtained after paint-bake hardening.展开更多

In addition, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and tensile testing were carried out to study changes and mechanisms of the stainless steel structures and properties during work-hardening and annealing-softening. The results indicate that annealing at low temperatures (100-500 ~C) can only remove partial residual stresses in the sample and the softening via annealing is not obvious. Bright annealing and rapid cooling in a protective atmosphere can completely soften the cold-worked material. In addition, the low-temperature sample without a protective atmosphere only has a little oxidation on the surface, but at higher temperature the oxidized layer is very thick. Thus, high-temperature annealing should include bright annealing.展开更多

文摘The closed form solutions of the stress and displacement in strain softening rock mass around a newly formed cavity are derived with a three step-wise elasto-plastic model. The solutions can be applied to the stability analysis and support design of the underground excavation.
文摘A modified plastic strain energy as hardening state parameter for dense sand was proposed, based on the results front a series of drained plane strain tests on saturated dense Japanese Toyoura sand with precise stress and strain measurements along many stress paths. In addition, a unique hardening function between the plastic strain energy and the instantaneous stress path was also presented, which was independent of stress history. The proposed state parameter and hardening function was directly verified by the simple numerical integration method. It is shown that the proposed hardening function is independent of stress history and stress path and is appropriate to be used as the hardening rule in constitutive modeling for dense sand, and it is also capable of simulating the effects on the de-formation characteristics of stress history and stress path for dense sand.

文摘In the industrial production, the dynamic cooling pre-aging treatment was employed to replace the isothermal pre-aging during the continuous heat treatment production of Al-Mg-Si alloy automotive sheets. The high yield strength increment is obtained after paint-bake hardening.

文摘The multiple cracking and deflection hardening performance of polyvinyl alcohol fiber reinforced engineered cementitious composites(PVA-ECC)under four-point flexural loading have been investigated.Matrices with different binder combinations and W/B ratios(from 0.44 to 0.78)providing satisfactory PVA fiber dispersion were specially designed.Effect of pre-existing flaw size distribution modification on deflection hardening behavior was comparatively studied by adding 3 mm diameter polyethylene beads into the mixtures(6%by total volume).Natural flaw size distributions of composites without beads were determined by cross sectional analysis. The crack number and crack width distributions of specimens after flexural loading were characterized and the possible causes of changes in multiple cracking and deflection hardening behavior by flaw size distribution modification were discussed.Promising results from the view point of deflection hardening behavior were obtained from metakaolin incorporated and flaw size distribution modified PVA-ECCs prepared with W/B=0.53.The dual roles of W/B ratio and superplasticizer content on flaw size distribution, cracking potential and fiber-matrix bond behavior were evaluated.Flaw size distribution modification is found beneficial in terms of ductility improvement at an optimized W/B ratio.

文摘In order to study the effect of dynamic recrystallization on the metal flow behavior during thermal deformation, the elevated temperature compression experiments of CuCrZr alloy and 35CrMo steel are carried out using Gleeble-3810 thermal simulator. It is proved that the samples underwent obvious dynamic recrystallization behavior during thermal deformation by microstructure observation of deformed specimens. The size of recrystallized grains increases as the temperature improved and the strain rate decreased.Meanwhile, the net softening rate caused by dynamic recrystallization is determined based on the stress-dislocation relationship. It can be found that the value of net softening rate increases quadratically as the Z parameter decreases, and the dynamic recrystallization net softening rate of CuCrZr alloy and 35CrMo steel are calculated to be 21.9%and 29.8%,respectively.Based on the dynamic recrystallization softening effect proposed, the novel elevated temperature flow constitutive models of two different alloys are proposed, and the related parameters are well defined and solved in detail. The predicted values of the obtained models are agreed well with the experimental values.

文摘In order to investigate and predict the material properties of curved surface AISI 1045 steel component during spot continual induction hardening(SCIH),a 3D model for curved surface workpieces which coupled electromagnetic, temperature and phase transformation fields was built by finite element software ANSYS.A small size inductor and magnetizer were used in this model, which can move along the top surface of workpiece flexibly. The effect of inductor moving velocity and workpiece radius on temperature field was analyzed and the heating delay phenomenon was found through comparing the simulated results. The temperature field results indicate that the heating delay phenomenon is more obvious under high inductor moving velocity condition. This trend becomes more obvious if the workpiece radius becomes larger. The predictions of microstructure and micro-hardness distribution were also carried out via this model. The predicted results show that the inductor moving velocity is the dominated factor for the distribution of 100% martensite region and phase transformation region. The influencing factor of workpiece radius on 100% martensite region and phase transformation region distribution is obvious under relatively high inductor moving velocity but inconspicuous under relatively low inductor moving velocity.

文摘To study the mechanics of work-hardening and annealing-softening, a series of experiments were conducted on samples of 304 austenitic stainless steel sheets. Thus, high-temperature annealing should include bright annealing.
文摘Most conventional ceramic based aluminum metal matrix composites(MMCs) are either heavy, costly or combination of both. In order to reduce cost and weight, while at the same time maintaining quality, cow horn particles(CHp) was used with aluminum alloy A356 to produce MMC for brake drum application and other engineering uses. The aim of this research is to model the age hardening process of the produced composite using response surface methodology(RSM) and artificial neural network(ANN),and to use the developed ANN as fitness function for a simulated annealing optimization algorithm(SA-NN system) for optimization of age hardening process parameters. The results show that ANN modeled the age hardening data excellently and better than RSM with a correlation coefficient of experimental response with ANN predictions being 0.9921 as against 0.9583 for the RSM. The SA-NN system optimized process parameters were in very close agreement with the experimental values with the maximum relative error of 1.2%,minimum of 0.35% and average of 0.71%.
文摘The plane structure of bars jointed to a rigid-body is a complex and universal structure. Some other structure of bars can be considered as its special cases. Many material have different stress-strain relation in tension and compression, generally the relation is nonlinear. In this paper,we use the constitutive model of linearly elastic and power hardening of strength difference to analyze plane structure of bars. The displacement method is used to derive the universal expression of calculating stress and strain. The nonlinear equations for computing displacements of the rigid-body has been given and general computing program has been worked out. This problem has been solved satisfactorily.
