During obesity treatment, clinicians have been burdened by the ever-increasing number of patients and the side effects of drug treatment.Finding new plant-derived active ingredients as an intervention for obesity has become a research focus. In this study,Plackett-Burman and Central Composite Design experiments,plant-wide target metabolomics technology, simulated human colon fermentation test, and cell experiment in vitro were successively used to investigate the effects of fermented and unfermented polyphenols(FP and UP,respectively)of blue honeysuckle on obesity. After the optimization of the response surface method, polyphenol content((1878.08±14.53)mg/100 g)increased by 2.63 times after Lactobacillus rhamnosus 6224 and Saccharomyces cerevisiae W5 mixed fermentation. There were 23 significantly different metabolites were observed in FP and UP.Of them,7 different metabolites were significantly and positively correlated with short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs),whereas negatively correlated with lipopolysaccharides(LPS).The contents of these 7 metabolites were significantly increased in FP.Furthermore, the effects of FP and UP on the SCFA biosynthesis pathway were different.Cell experiments revealed that polyphenols can significantly promote the secretion of gastrointestinal endogenous hormones and insulin and inhibit interleukin-6 levels.Linear regression analysis revealed SCFAs had a positive regulatory effect on glycolipid metabolism, whereas LPS had a negative effect.Overall, these crucial findings provide an economical and simple method for obtaining blue honeysuckle polyphenols and laying a theoretical foundation for its application in the therapeutic intervention against obesity. 展开更多

Marine fauna provides a plentiful repository of peptides and bioactive proteins.Peptides and proteins isolated from marine animals have been studied and applied in the development of food supplements, drugs, and cosmeceutical products because of their special bioactivities, such as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. This study focused on exploring the alleviating effects of five major marine animal-derived peptides(Apostichopus japonicus,Acaudina leucoprocta,Melanogrammus aeglefinus,Phascolosoma esculenta and Rhopilema esculentum)on adjuvant-induced arthritis(AIA).The treatment with five marine animals-derived peptides downregulated the expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines of interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-17 and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α in the bones of the mice with AIA and alleviated the rough surface of bone tissues significantly.A.japonicus-treatment ameliorates inflammation by restoring nuclear factor-κB pathway in AIA mice.High-throughput sequencing of the gut microbiota based on 16S rRNA sequencing revealed that A.japonicus peptide-treated AIA mice showed alterations and imbalance of intestinal flora and an increased abundance of Lactobacillus and Clostridium.Furthermore, metabolomic analysis showed that the level of short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)in the feces was enhanced to different degrees in mice treated with five major marine animal-derived peptides.Taken together,we propose that major marine animal-derived peptides can alleviate arthritis by improving the imbalance in the gut flora and increasing SCFAs production to varying degrees. 展开更多

Milk fat globule membrane(MFGM),which contains abundant glycoproteins and phospholipids, exerts beneficial effects on intestinal health and immunomodulation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the protective effects and possible underlying mechanisms of MFGM on cow’s milk allergy(CMA)in aβ-lactoglobulin(BLG)-induced allergic mice model.MFGM was supplemented to allergic mice induced by BLG at a dose of 400 mg/kg body weight. Results demonstrated that MFGM alleviated food allergy symptoms, decreased serum levels of lipopolysaccharide,pro-inflammatory cytokines, immunoglobulin(Ig)E,Ig G1,and Th2 cytokines including interleukin(IL)-4,while increased serum levels of Th1 cytokines including interferon-γand regulatory T cells(Tregs)cytokines including IL-10 and transforming growth factor-β.MFGM modulated gut microbiota and enhanced intestinal barrier of BLG-allergic mice,as evidenced by decreased relative abundance of Desulfobacterota,Rikenellaceae,Lachnospiraceae, and Desulfovibrionaceae, while increased relative abundance of Bacteroidetes,Lactobacillaceae and Muribaculaceae, and enhanced expressions of tight junction proteins including Occludin,Claudin-1 and zonula occludens-1.Furthermore,MFGM increased fecal short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)levels, which elevated G protein-coupled receptor(GPR)43 and GPR109A expressions. The increased expressions of GPR43 and GPR109A induced CD103+dendritic cells accumulation and promoted Tregs differentiation in mesenteric lymph node to a certain extent. In summary,MFGM alleviated CMA in a BLG-induced allergic mice model through enhancing intestinal barrier and promoting Tregs differentiation, which may be correlated with SCFAs-mediated activation of GPRs.These findings suggest that MFGM may be useful as a promising functional ingredient against CMA. 展开更多

Forsythia suspensa, belonging to the deciduous shrubs of the Luteaceae family,a traditional Chinese medicine, has effects of alleviating swelling, clearing heat, detoxification and promoting blood circulation. The leaves of F.suspensa contain multiple chemical components and have a long history of use in folk medicines and health foods. The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of forsythin extract from F.suspensa leaves on intestinal microbiota and short-chain fatty acid(SCFA)content in rats with obesity induced by a high-fat diet.Forsythin extract in F.suspensa leaves increased the abundance of the intestinal microbiota, ameliorated intestinal microbiota disorders and inhibited the increase in total SCFA content in the intestinal tract in rats with obesity induced by a high-fat diet. These results suggested that forsythin extract in F.suspensa leaves may slow the development of obesity induced by a high-fat diet;thus, its active components and efficacy are worthy of further study. 展开更多

Infant formula(IF)based on cow milk and goat milk is a substitute food for infants who are underfed with human milk.In our previous study,we reported the composition and physicochemical stability of IF based on milk from cows and goats and a combination of both milks. Here,we investigated the effects of these 3 IFs on intestinal immunity and short-chain fatty acid production(SCFAs)using human microbiota-associated(HMA)mice and selected human milk as a positive control. The results showed that goat milk-based IF is associated with a functional immune advantage, due to the rise in the levels of immune-related cytokines interleukin(IL)-2 and IL-10,decreased levels of intestinal permeability markers D-lactic acid and endotoxin, and increased mRNA levels of intestinal tight junction proteins occludin and claudin. In addition, the intestine of mice fed with goat milk-based IF contained 12.06μmol/g acetate,2.42μmol/g propionate, and 1.72μmol/g butyrate, which reached 69%,79%,and 60%of the levels in human milk, respectively. Our results indicate that goat milk-based IF improves intestinal immune function and promotes the production of intestinal SCFAs. 展开更多

Prebiotics may enhance iron absorption, and one plausible mechanism involves the production of shortchain fatty acids(SCFA)in the colon by intestinal microflora. The objectives of this study were to determine the effects of common commercially-available prebiotics including fructooligosaccharide(FOS),inulin,FOS-inulin mixture, galactooligosaccharide(GOS),and lactulose on the iron status of anemic rats, and to monitor changes in the production of colonic SCFA.Anemic Sprague-Dawley rats receiving a lowiron diet(12μg Fe/g diet)were supplemented with or without prebiotics(5%m/V in drinking water)for 5 weeks.Hemoglobin concentration in rats supplemented with GOS after 3 weeks(4.3 g/dL)was significantly higher than rats without supplementation(3.7 g/dL),while FOS also significantly increased hemoglobin concentration after 4 weeks(4.1 g/dL vs.3.7 g/dL).All other prebiotics showed no effects.Anemic rats showed lower overall SCFA production in the colon than normal rats, and only FOS signifi cantly increased the production of the three main SCFA(acetic acid, propionic acid and isobutyric acid)identifi ed in anemic rats, with other prebiotics showing no noticeable trends. Our results suggest that GOS and FOS may slightly improve iron status of anemic rats, but the role of SCFA in the colon is not clear. 展开更多

Branched-chain fatty acids(BCFAs)are new bioactive fatty acids with anti-inflammatory properties. However, the role of BCFAs in alleviating ulcerative colitis has not been clarified.Herein,we evaluated the protective effect of BCFAs from goat milk in mice with colitis induced using dextran sodium sulfate(DSS)and explored the corresponding mechanism. These results show that BCFAs extracted from goat milk can significantly alleviate weight loss in mice, and reduce the disease activity index and the activity of myeloperoxidase while increasing the content of antioxidant enzymes in colon tissue and reducing the oxidation stress response. These data also show that BCFAs can down-regulate the gene and protein expression of the toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)/nuclear factorκB p65(NF-κB p65)/NOD-like receptor thermal protein domain associated protein 3(NLRP3)signaling pathway, and at the same time significantly reduce the expression of pro-inflammatory factors tumor necrosis factorα(TNF-α),interleukin 1β(IL-1β),and IL-18 in colon tissue, and significantly increase the expression of the anti-inflammatory factor IL-10.In conclusion, these results demonstrated that BCFAs in goat milk exerted effects on colitis-related inflammatory cytokines and inhibited inflammation by inducing the TLR4/NF-κB/NLRP3 pathway to alleviate DSS-induced ulcerative colitis. This study provides evidence for the potential of BCFAs as bioactive fatty acids in food products and to ameliorate ulcerative colitis development in mice. 展开更多

In this study, yak bone collagen hydrolysate(YBCH)was produced by mixed proteases and provided to standard-diet mice at a different dose(low dose(LD), medium dose(MD), and high dose(HD))to investigate its effects on the composition of gut microbiota and short-chain fatty acids(SCFA)production. It was found that YBCH was mainly composed of small molecular peptides whose molecular weight below 2 000 Da. Notably, supplementation with different doses of YBCH could significantly downregulate the ratio of Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes in the fecal microbiota. At the family level, the Lachnospiraceae abundance was significantly reduced in the YBCH gavage groups(mean reduction ratio 41.7 %, 35.2%, and 36.4% for LD, MD, and HD group, respectively). The predicted functions of gut microbes in the MD group were significantly increased at “lipid metabolism” and “glycan biosynthesis and metabolism”. Moreover, the SCFA production in the YBCH groups was elevated. Especially, the concentration of acetic acid, propionic acid, and butyric acid in the MD group was separately increased 79.7%, 89.2%, and 78.8% than that in the NC group. These results indicated that YBCH might be applied in the development of functional food for intestinal microecological regulation. 展开更多

Objectives To investigate the relationship between serum fxee fatty acids (FFAs) levels and the severity of coronary artery lesions in elderly patients with coronary heart disease (CAD). Methods A total of 172 elderly patients who underwent coronary angiography were divided into CAD group (n = 128) and non-CAD group (n = 44) according to the results of coronary angiography. Serum FFAs and lipid levels were measured and the Gensini score were calculated. Results No matter the differences between age, gender and the usage of stat- ins or not, there was no statistical significance in FFAs levels (P 〉 0.05). In terms of the Gensini score, it was higher in patients aged 70-79 years than in patients 60-69 years old [15.00 (5.00, 34.00) vs. 10.00 (2.00, 24.00), P 〈 0.05], higher in men than women [14.00 (4.00, 34.00) vs. 7.00 (2.50, 19.75), P 〈 0.05], and higher in patients on statins [13.50 (4.25, 33.50)vs. 6.50 (2.00, 18.00), P 〈 0.05]. The serum FFAs lev- els [449.50 (299.00, 624.75) mEq/L vs. 388.00 (258.50, 495.25) mEq/L, P 〈 0.05J and Gensini score [17.50 (8.00, 41.75) vs. 1.00 (0, 5.00), P 〈 0.05] were higher in the CAD group than in the non-CAD group. In the CAD group, there was no statistical significance in FFAs levels among patients with different numbers of diseased coronary vessels (P 〉 0.05). Furthermore, the FFAs levels were positively correlated with the Gensini score (r = 0.394, P = 0.005). Regression analysis showed that the FFAs levels were related to the Gensini score independently after adjusting for the other risk factors. Conclusions The serum FFAs levels were associated with the Gensini score in elderly patients with CAD. It might indicate FFAs as a biomarker predicting the severity of coronary artery lesions. 展开更多

The friction and wear characteristics of lauroyl glutamine, lauroyl glycine and lauroyl alanine, used as green additives in HVI 350 mineral lubricating oil, were evaluated on a four-ball tribotester. The morphologies and chemical species of the worn surfaces were analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscope (XPS), respectively. The test results indicated that the three fatty acyl amino acids could effectively improve the anti-wear and friction-reducing abilities of the HVI 350 mineral oil. The improvement in anti-wear and friction-reducing abilities of the mineral oil by the related amino acids was mainly ascribed to the formation of a composite boundary lubrication film due to the adsorption of amino acids on the friction surfaces. 展开更多

The continuous reduction in sulfur content of fuels would lead to diesel fuel with poor lubricity which could re- sult in engine pump failure. In the present work, fatty acids were adopted as lubricity additives to low-sulfur diesel fuel. It was attempted to correlate the molecular structures of fatty acids, such as carbon chain length, degree of saturation and hy- droxylation, to their lubricity enhancement, which was evaluated by the High-Frequency Reciprocating Rig (HFRR) meth- od. The efficiency order was supported by the density functional theory (DFT) calculations and the molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The lubricity enhancing properties of fatty acids are mainly determined by the cohesive energy of adsorbed films furmed on iron surface. The greater the cohesive energy, the more efficiently the fatty acid would enhance the lubricity of low-sulfur diesel fuel. 展开更多

Background Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) causes the myocardium to rely on fatty acid β-oxidation for energy. The accumulation of intracellular lipids and fatty acids in the myocardium usually results in lipotoxicity, which impairs myocardial function. Adipsin may play an important protective role in the pathogenesis of DCM. The aim of this study is to investigate the regulatory effect of Adipsin on DCM lipotoxicity and its molecular mechanism.MethodsA high-fat diet (HFD)-induced type 2 diabetes mellitus model was constructed in mice with adipose tissue-specific overexpression of Adipsin (Adipsin-Tg). Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS), glutathione-S-transferase (GST) pull-down technique, Co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP) and immunofluorescence colocalization analyses were used to investigate the molecules which can directly interact with Adipsin. The immunocolloidal gold method was also used to detect the interaction between Adipsin and its downstream modulator.ResultsThe expression of Adipsin was significantly downregulated in the HFD-induced DCM model (P < 0.05). Adipose tissue-specific overexpression of Adipsin significantly improved cardiac function and alleviated cardiac remodeling in DCM (P < 0.05). Adipsin overexpression also alleviated mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation function in diabetic stress (P < 0.05). LC–MS/MS analysis, GST pull-down technique and Co-IP studies revealed that interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase-like 2 (Irak2) was a downstream regulator of Adipsin. Immunofluorescence analysis also revealed that Adipsin was co-localized with Irak2 in cardiomyocytes. Immunocolloidal gold electron microscopy and Western blotting analysis indicated that Adipsin inhibited the mitochondrial translocation of Irak2 in DCM, thus dampening the interaction between Irak2 and prohibitin (Phb)-optic atrophy protein 1 (Opa1) on mitochondria and improving the structural integrity and function of mitochondria (P < 0.05). Interestingly, in the presence of Irak2 knockdown, Adipsin overexpression did not further alleviate myocardial mitochondrial destruction and cardiac dysfunction, suggesting a downstream role of Irak2 in Adipsin-induced responses (P < 0.05). Consistent with these findings, overexpression of Adipsin after Irak2 knockdown did not further reduce the accumulation of lipids and their metabolites in the cardiac myocardium, nor did it enhance the oxidation capacity of cardiomyocytes expose to palmitate (PA) (P < 0.05). These results indicated that Irak2 may be a downstream regulator of Adipsin.ConclusionsAdipsin improves fatty acid β-oxidation and alleviates mitochondrial injury in DCM. The mechanism is related to Irak2 interaction and inhibition of Irak2 mitochondrial translocation. 展开更多

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the main cause of chronic liver disease worldwide.Bupleurum is widely used in the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver, and saikosaponin D(SSD)is one of the main active components of Bupleurum. The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy of SSD in the treatment of NAFLD and to explore the mechanism of SSD in the improvement of NAFLD based on“gut-liver axis”.Our results showed that SSD dose-dependently alleviated high fat diet-induced weight gain in mice, improved insulin sensitivity, and also reduced liver lipid accumulation and injury-related biomarkers aspartate aminotransferase(AST)and alanine aminotransferase(ALT).Further exploration found that SSD inhibited the mRNA expression levels of farnesoid X receptor(Fxr),small heterodimer partner(Shp),recombinant fibroblast growth factor 15(Fgf15)and apical sodium dependent bile acid transporter(Asbt)in the intestine, suggesting that SSD improved liver lipid metabolism by inhibiting intestinal FXR signaling.SSD can significantly reduce the gut microbiota associated with bile salt hydrolase(BSH)expression, such as Clostridium.Decreased BSH expression reduced the ratio of unconjugated to conjugated bile acids, thereby inhibiting the intestinal FXR.These data demonstrated that SSD ameliorated NAFLD potentially through the gut microbiota-bile acidintestinal FXR pathway and suggested that SSD is a promising therapeutic agent for the treatment of NAFLD. 展开更多

Polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFAs),particularly the omega-3 PUFAs,are thought to be involved in neuronal processes,to play a role in neurodevelopmental disorders and to be important for the integrity of central nervous system functioning. The present study investigated the effects of nutritional omega-3 PUFAs on attentional functions and impulsive behavior in Wistar rats. For this purpose, female Wistar rats were fed an omega-3 deficient diet over several generations, and the dams of the seventh generation were randomly assigned to two diet groups and fed an omega-3 deficient or an omega-3 sufficient diet.In addition,a group of previously untreated dams was fed an omega-3 sufficient diet. The male offspring of these three diet groups were tested using an established paradigm for the assessment of attention and impulsive behavior,i.e.a modified version of the five-choice-serial-reaction-time task(5CSRTT).The present data show that the deficiency of omega-3 PUFAs over generations led to substantial changes in attentional processes and impulsive behaviors. The impairments associated with an omega-3 deficiency were partly corrected by treatment with the omega-3 sufficient diet in the last generation of the omega-3 deficient group which showed substantial improvements in attention parameters. While there were no significant effects of dietary modifications on psychomotor activity levels, there was some evidence for changes in impulsive behavior. In conclusion, transgenerational dietary changes in the availability of omega-3 PUFAs led to changes in attentional processes and impulsive behavior in rats, supporting the hypothesis that omega-3 PUFAs play a role in cognitive and behavioral processes. The present findings offer a promising approach in the investigation of the role of omega-3 PUFAs in a variety of cognitive and behavioral domains. 展开更多

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is a high-incidence lipid disorder that affects more than a quarter of the population worldwide, and dietary intervention is the recognized treatment.Starch is the main component of staple foods that are consumed daily, and the effects, metabolic pathway, and molecular mechanism of starch in the context of NAFLD remain unclear. Our study showed that a high-starch carbohydrate diet(HCD)led to the occurrence and exacerbation of NAFLD in mice.Transcriptomics and metabonomic analyses showed that the increased fatty acid influx mediated by NADPH oxidase 2(NOX2)exacerbated NAFLD.Knocking down NOX2 specifically alleviated HCD-induced NAFLD in vivo and in vitro. Moreover, the large amounts of ROS produced by NOX2 further exacerbated insulin resistance and increased lipolysis in perirenal white adipose tissue(periWAT),thereby providing fatty acids for hepatic lipid synthesis. In addition, the interaction between AMPKα1 and p47phox was the pathway that mediated the high expression of NOX2 induced by a HCD.Our study systematically demonstrated the effect of a HCD on NAFLD.Elevated fatty acid influx is a unique molecular regulatory pathway that mediates HCD-induced NAFLD exacerbation, which is different from the effect of simple sugars.Additionally,NOX2 was suggested to be a specific and effective drug target for NAFLD. 展开更多

Methods A randomized, double-blind placebo controlled and parallel group trial was conducted. Patients with CHD and CHD risk equivalents with mixed dyslipidemia were treated with 10 or 20 mg simvastatin for 6-12 weeks. Following with the treatment of patients whose low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-ch) reaching goal level (< 100 mg/dL) or close to the goal (< 130 mg/dL), while triglyceride (TG) ≥200 mg/dL and < 500 mg/dL, was combined with omega-3 fatty acids (3 g/d) or a placebo for 2 months. The effects of the treatment on HsCRP, total cholesterol (TC), LDL-ch, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-ch), TG, lipoprotein (a) [LP (a)], apolipoprotein A1 (apoA1), apolipoprotein B (apoB), plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1), and tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) were investigated. Forty patients finished the study with each group consisting of twenty patients. Results (1) There were significant reductions of HsCRP, TG, TC, and TC/HDL-ch, which decreased by 2.16 ±2.77 mg/L (38.5%), 94.0 ±65.4 mg/dL (31.1%), 13.3 ±22.3 mg/dL (6.3%), 0.78 ±1.60 respectively in the omega-3 fatty acids group (P< 0.01, < 0.001, < 0.05, < 0.05) compared to the baseline. HsCRP and triglyceride reduction were more significant in omega-3 fatty acids group compared to the placebo group (P=0.021 and 0.011 respectively). (2) In the omega-3 fatty acids group, the values and percentage of TG reduction had a significantly positive relation with HsCRP reduction (r=0.51 and 0.45, P=0.021 and 0.047 respectively). Conclusion In CHD and CHD risk equivalent patients with mixed dyslipidemia, dyslipidemia’s therapeutic effect using simvastatin and omega-3 fatty acids may result from not only the combination of lipid adjustment, but also enhancement of their own nonlipid influences. 展开更多

This study aimed to investigate the protective effects of fleshes from two Actinidia chinensis(ACF), pericarps from two A. chinensis(ACP), and fleshes with pericarps from two A. chinensis(ACFP)on high fructose(HF)-instigated dyslipidemia, hepatic steatosis, oxidative stress, insulin resistance, and fatty acid metabolism disorders in rats. In general, the above abnormalities were improved after 10 weeks intervention of ACF, ACP, and ACFP. Especially, ACFP considerably ameliorated HF-induced abnormal changes in body weight gain, serum TC, TG, LDL-C and HDL-C levels, as well as serum and hepatic SFAs, MUFAs and PUFAs contents. ACFP also alleviated HF-induced hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia, stabilized HF-caused increase in hepatic MDA and serum ALT, AST levels, and restored HF-declined hepatic T-SOD and GSH-Px activities. Besides, histopathology of the liver further endorsed the protective effects of ACFP on hepatocellular injury. Moreover, ACFP increased HF-dropped acetic, propionic and butyric acid levels. Overall, ACFP employs more efficacious protective effects against HF-induced metabolic disorders and liver damage than ACF and ACP. This study delivers a scientific foundation for developing kiwifruit(counting peel)-based dietary supplements for those with glucolipid-metabolic disorders and liver damage. 展开更多

Laboratory generated spent bleached liquor from the chlorination, caustic extraction stage of mixed wood kraft pulp processing has been analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively for various resin & fatty acids by using GC. A number of resin acids, saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, chloro fatty and resin acid have been detected and their concentrations are estimated. The results are compared with results on different agriculture residue/hardwood pulps, which were reported earlier. The concentrations of various compounds detected have also been compared with their reported LC50 values. 展开更多

Dietary omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids(ω-3 PUFAs)can be classifi ed into animal-and plant-derivedω-3 PUFAs.Patients with type 2 diabetes(T2DM)are frequently accompanied by dyslipidemia, which is closely related to the high-density lipoprotein(HDL-C)subfractions change. This study aimed to determine the effects of different sourcesω-3 PUFAs on glucolipid metabolism and lipoprotein subfractions in T2DM with dyslipidemia.Ninety T2DM patients with dyslipidemia were randomly assigned to take 3 g/day fi sh oil(FO,containing eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA)and docosahexaenoic acid(DHA)),3 g/day perilla oil(PO,containingα-linolenic acid(ALA)),or 3 g/day blend oil(BO,containing EPA,DHA and ALA)for 3 months.90 patients completed the intervention. There was a significant reduction of glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c)in all the groups. The triglycerides(TG)in the FO group were signifi cantly different with a group×time interaction(P=0.043),which was higher compared with the other two groups. The serum small HDL-C subfractions in the PO group was higher and the serum large HDL-C subfractions in the PO group was lower than those in the BO and FO groups.Plant-derivedω-3 PUFAs are more effective at controlling blood glucose than animal-derivedω-3 PUFAs.However,animal-derivedω-3 PUFAs have a signifi cant lowering effect on TG compared with plant-derivedω-3 PUFAs.Particularly, large HDL-C subfractions after animal-derivedω-3 PUFAs intake were higher than plant-derivedω-3 PUFAs intake;while small HDL-C subfractions were lower. Both the animal-and plant-derivedω-3 PUFAs have practical value in improving glucose and lipids metabolism in T2DM patients with dyslipidemia. 展开更多
