Laser powder-bed fusion(LPBF)of Zn-0.8Cu(wt.%)alloys exhibits significant advantages in the customization of biodegradable bone implants.However,the formability of LPBFed Zn alloy is not sufficient due to the spheroidization during the interaction of powder and laser beam,of which the mechanism is still not well understood.In this study,the evolution of morphology and grain structure of the LPBFed Zn-Cu alloy was investigated based on single-track deposition experiments.As the scanning speed increases,the grain structure of a single track of Zn-Cu alloy gradually refines,but the formability deteriorates,leading to the defect’s formation in the subsequent fabrication.The Zn-Cu alloys fabricated by optimum processing parameters exhibit a tensile strength of 157.13 MPa,yield strength of 106.48 MPa and elongation of 14.7%.This work provides a comprehensive understanding of the processing optimization of Zn-Cu alloy,achieving LPBFed Zn-Cu alloy with high density and excellent mechanical properties. 展开更多

Breakage is an important step in the resource processing chain.However,the mechanical crushing methods commonly used today suffer from low energy efficiency and high dust levels.Promoting environmental protection and improving energy efficiency are crucial to advancing China’s circular economy.Mining companies are actively exploring novel and innovative technologies to significantly cut down on operating costs and minimize emissions of dust and pollutants generated during processing.Recently,high voltage pulse discharge(HVPD)technology has received widespread attention and has been reported to have good application prospects in resource processing.This paper presents an extensive review of the operational principles of HVPD and the unique characteristics it engenders,such as non-polluting,selective material fragmentation,pre-weakening,pre-concentration,and enhanced permeability of coal seams.Additionally,this review explores the potential and obstacles confronting HVPD in industrial contexts,offering fresh insights for HVPD optimization and providing guidance and prospects for industrial deployment and further development. 展开更多

This paper focused on the modeling of microbial fermentation processes under varying production environments and proposed a novel approach.Considering that the dynamic characteristics of microorganisms differ across growth stages,we introduced the concept of multi-stage sensitivity analysis,in which each stage was investigated separately.The fuzzy C-means(FCM)algorithm was employed to cluster process data under nominal conditions,thereby dividing the penicillin fermentation process into distinct growth stages.Based on this division,the Latin hypercube sampling with partial rank correlation coefficient(LHS-EPRCC)method was applied to conduct sensitivity analysis for each stage,identifying an importance parameter set(IPS)that corresponds to the stage-specific growth characteristics.Re-estimation and correction of the IPS were then performed to enhance the predictive accuracy of the model.In a penicillin fermentation process deviating from nominal conditions,the proposed method was applied for model correction.Simulation results demonstrate that the corrected model aligns well with the actual process,thereby verifying the effectiveness of the proposed multistage sensitivity analysis approach in addressing complex fermentation processes and environmental uncertainties. 展开更多

The bias of micro-electro-mechanical system(MEMS)gyroscopes is sensitive to temperature variations,which limits their accuracy in complex thermal environments.To address this issue,this paper proposes a Gaussian process regression(GPR)model that uses resonant frequency and quadrature output as inputs to predict and compensate for the full-temperature bias of MEMS gyroscopes in real-time.Without relying on external sensors,the resonant frequency and quadrature output serve as virtual sensors that directly reflect bias variations.To suppress noise and improve modeling accuracy,the bias is preprocessed using particle swarm optimization-optimized variational mode decomposition before training.In addition,a fast computation strategy is developed to improve the computational efficiency of the GPR model.Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.In three repeated trials,the bias instability of the compensated bias is reduced by 46.18%,60.18%,and 63.68%,respectively,compared to the uncompensated bias. 展开更多

High entropy alloys(HEAs)have recently attracted significant attention due to their exceptional mechanical properties and potential applications across various fields.Friction stir welding and processing(FSW/P),as notable solid-state welding and processing techniques,have been proved effectiveness in enhancing microstructures and mechanical properties of HEAs.This review article summarizes the current status of FSW/P of HEAs.The welding materials and conditions used for FSW/P in HEAs are reviewed and discussed.The effects of FSW/P on the evolutions of grain structure,texture,dislocation,and secondary phase for different HEAs are highlighted.Furthermore,the influences of FSW/P on the mechanical properties of various HEAs are analyzed.Finally,potential applications,challenges,and future directions of FSW/P in HEAs are forecasted.Overall,FSW/P enable to refine grains of HEAs through dynamic recrystallization and to activate diverse deformation mechanisms of HEAs through tailoring phase structures,thereby significantly improving the strength,hardness,and ductility of both single-and dual-phase HEAs.Future progress in this field will rely on comprehensive optimization of processing parameters and alloy composition,integration of multi-scale modeling with advanced characterization for in-depth exploration of microstructural mechanisms,systematic evaluation of functional properties,and effective bridging of the gap between laboratory research and industrial application.The review aims to provide an overview of recent advancements in the FSW/P of HEAs and encourage further research in this area. 展开更多

A new meso-mechanical testing scheme based on SEM was developed to carry out the experiment of microfracturing process of rocks. The microfracturing process of the pre-crack marble sample on surrounding rock in the immerged Long-big tunnel in Jinping Cascade II Hydropower Station under uniaxial compression was recorded by using the testing scheme. According to the stereology theory, the propagation and coalescent of cracks at meso-scale were quantitatively investigated with digital technology. Therefore, the basic geometric information of rock microcracks such as area, angle, length, width, perimeter, was obtained from binary images after segmentation. The failure mechanism of specimen under uniaxial compression with the quantitative information was studied from macro and microscopic point of view. The results show that the image of microfracturing process of the specimen can be observed and recorded digitally. During the damage of the specimen, the distribution of microcracks in the specimen is still subjected to exponential distribution with some microcracks concentrated in certain regions. Finally, the change law of the fractal dimension of the local element in marble sample under different external load conditions is obtained by means of the statistical calculation of the fractal dimension. 展开更多

SiC particles were in situ coated by the exothermal reaction of SiC Ti powder compact in Al melt bath, and easily incorporated into Al melt. The detailed study was carried out to understand the microstructures of the reacted SiC particles. During the reaction and consequent mixing, the successive processes include in situ coating on the reacted SiC particles, coat dissolution and SiC P splitting. The tensile mechanical properties of 6013Al/SiC P composite processed by the present technology showed that the reacted SiC P considerably reinforced the 6013 matrix. 展开更多
