A modified bottleneck-based (MB) heuristic for large-scale job-shop scheduling problems with a welldefined bottleneck is suggested, which is simpler but more tailored than the shifting bottleneck (SB) procedure. I...A modified bottleneck-based (MB) heuristic for large-scale job-shop scheduling problems with a welldefined bottleneck is suggested, which is simpler but more tailored than the shifting bottleneck (SB) procedure. In this algorithm, the bottleneck is first scheduled optimally while the non-bottleneck machines are subordinated around the solutions of the bottleneck schedule by some effective dispatching rules. Computational results indicate that the MB heuristic can achieve a better tradeoff between solution quality and computational time compared to SB procedure for medium-size problems. Furthermore, it can obtain a good solution in a short time for large-scale jobshop scheduling problems.展开更多
To properly simulate hard rock with a high ratio of the uniaxial compressive strength to tensile strength(UCS/TS) and realistic strength-failure envelope,the rock deformation and mechanical characteristics were discus...To properly simulate hard rock with a high ratio of the uniaxial compressive strength to tensile strength(UCS/TS) and realistic strength-failure envelope,the rock deformation and mechanical characteristics were discussed in detail when the particle simulation method with the clump parallel-bond model(CPBM) was used to conduct a series of numerical experiments at the specimen scale.Meanwhile,the effects of the loading procedure and crack density on the mechanical behavior of a specimen,which was modeled by the particle simulation method with the CPBM,were investigated.The related numerical results have demonstrated that:1) The uniaxial compressive strength(UCS),tensile strength(TS) and elastic modulus are overestimated when the conventional loading procedure is used in the particle simulation method with the CPBM; 2) The elastic modulus,strength and UCS/TS decrease,while Poisson ratio increases with the increase of the crack density in the particle simulation method with the CPBM; 3) The particle simulation method with the CPBM can be used to reproduce a high value of UCS/TS(>10),as well as a high friction angle and reasonable cohesion strength; 4) As the confining pressure increases,both the peak strength of the simulated specimen and the number of microscopic cracks increase,but the ratio of tensile cracks number to shear cracks number decreases in the particle simulation method with the CPBM; 5) Compared with the conventional parallel-bond model,the CPBM can be used to reproduce more accurate results for simulating the rock deformation and mechanical characteristics.展开更多
To ensure running safety,the secondary spring loads of railway vehicles must be well equalized.Due to the coupling interactive effects of these hyper static suspended structures,the equalization adjustment through shi...To ensure running safety,the secondary spring loads of railway vehicles must be well equalized.Due to the coupling interactive effects of these hyper static suspended structures,the equalization adjustment through shimming procedure is quite complex.Therefore,an effective and reliable method in application is developed in this paper.Firstly,the best regulation of spring load is solved based on a mechanical model of the secondary suspension system,providing a target for actual adjustment.To reveal the relationship between secondary spring load distribution and shim quantity sequence,a forecasting model is constructed and then modified experimentally with consideration of car body’s elastic deformation.Further,a gradient-based algorithm with a momentum operation is proposed for the load optimization.Effectiveness of the whole method has been verified on a test rig.It is experimentally confirmed that this research provides an important basis for achieving an optimal regulation of spring load distribution for multiple types of railway vehicles.展开更多

This paper presents an analytical procedure for massive water-sealing barriers(MWSBs)that are made of partially overlapped jet-grouting columns used for deep excavations,in which two crucial factors of the permeabilit...This paper presents an analytical procedure for massive water-sealing barriers(MWSBs)that are made of partially overlapped jet-grouting columns used for deep excavations,in which two crucial factors of the permeability and strength of jet-grouted materials are considered.Subsequently,a calculation example is analyzed and discussed.Results show that“tension failure”mechanism is a major concern for the structural failure during a design of MWSBs.The maximum allowable seepage discharge is a crucial index for the design of MWSBs,which has a significant influence on determining the design parameters of MWSBs.Compared with the design procedure for MWSBs that is proposed in this paper,the design parameters of MWSBs determined by the stability equilibrium and seepage stability equilibrium approaches are conservative due to the fact that it fails to consider the permeability or strength of jet-grouted materials that makes a contribution to the structural safety.Based on the proposed design method,the ranges of both the thickness and depth of MWSBs for a case history of subway excavation in Fuzhou,China were determined.Finally,field pumping test results showed that the water-tightness performance of MWSBs performed at site was quite well.展开更多

A set of admissible orthogonal polynomials are generated with Gram-Schmidt orthogonaliza...Free vibration analysis of non-homogeneous orthotropic plates resting on a Pasternak type of elastic foundation is investigated. A set of admissible orthogonal polynomials are generated with Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization procedure and adopted in the Rayleigh-Ritz method. Accuracy and applicability of the method are examined by comparison of the results for different boundary conditions and material types with those available in literature. It is found that this method has good accuracy regardless of type of boundary condition and yields very accurate results even with low number of terms of orthogonal polynomials for the first mode of vibration. For higher modes of vibration, higher terms of orthogonal polynomials should be used. The effects of foundation parameter, density and non-homogeneity parameters on natural frequency are examined. It is concluded that natural frequency of plates are more sensitive to shearing layer coefficient rather than Winkler coefficient and density parameter has weakening effect on natural frequency.展开更多

Therefore, the basic concept and theory foundation and research method are put forward on the base of summary of water resources management and developed and will be perfected in practice process of water function division. The Yangtze function zone covers the Yangtze river basin, the Lancang river basin and the rivers in the western area of the Lancang river in Southwest China. The f...A memetic algorithm (MA) for a multi-mode resourceconstrained project scheduling problem (MRCPSP) is proposed. We use a new fitness function and two very effective local search procedures in the proposed MA. The fitness function makes use of a mechanism called "strategic oscillation" to make the search process have a higher probability to visit solutions around a "feasible boundary". One of the local search procedures aims at improving the lower bound of project makespan to be less than a known upper bound, and another aims at improving a solution of an MRCPSP instance accepting infeasible solutions based on the new fitness function in the search process. A detailed computational experiment is set up using instances from the problem instance library PSPLIB. Computational results show that the proposed MA is very competitive with the state-of-the-art algorithms. The MA obtains improved solutions for one instance of set J30.展开更多

For a long period of time, vocabulary is simply taught in the way by asking students to study and memorize its meaning and spelling, its part of speech and its general function in a sentence. Thus, a student with a command of five thousand English vocabulary still finds it hard to adapt himself to the requirement of our demanding reading assignments, in particular, to the extensive reading task, which is more demanding due to its wide range of materials and large amount of vocabularies. According to Wilkins (1979: 111) "Without grammar very little can be conveyed, without vocabulary, nothing can be conveyed." Yet without a deeper understanding of how vocabulary is taught in the classroom and which methods of teaching are more effective for learners, the teaching of vocabulary may not achieve the desired effects. By researching the topic on vocabulary learning and instruction, this essay intends to bring the attention of both teachers and learners to the weaknesses of the traditional approach of teaching vocabulary and some different strategies in vocabulary instruction with the aim of improving the students’ reading comprehension.\;展开更多

Thus, we investigated the hypothesis that renal ischemia reperfusion injury alters ...Renal ischemia reperfusion injury increases renal generation of angiotensin II (Ang Ⅱ) which could wors- en renal vasocontraction. Thus, we investigated the hypothesis that renal ischemia reperfusion injury alters renal af- ferent arteriolar responses to Ang II via production of hydrogen peroxide ( H202 ), or superoxide ( O2 ) or via al- tered angiotensin type 1 receptor (AT1R) expression. Afferent arterioles of mouse kidneys 24h after renal ischemia repeffusion or sham procedures were isolated and perfused. Responses to Ang II or norepinephrine (NE) were as- sessed by measurement of arteriolar luminal diameter. The mRNA expressions of AT1 receptor ( AT1 R) and AT2 re- ceptor (ATzR) were evaluated by quantificational real-time polymerase chain reaction. Compared to sham group, afferent arterioles from mouse kidneys after renal ischemia reperfusion had impaired contractions to Ang II ( -4.63 ± 3.06) % versus ( - 29.95 ± 1.31 ) % at 10 -9 tool · ^-1, p 〈 0.05 , ( - 27.07 ± 1 50) % versus ( - 41 74 ± 0.60) % at 10^-7 tool · L^-1, P 〈 0.05 ) that were normalized by incubation with PEG-catalase , but unaffected by PEG-SOD. However, the NE responses of afferent arterioles after renal ischemia reperfusion were unchanged. Com- pared to the sham group, renal ischemia reperfusion significantly increased the renal cortical H202 (0. 123 ± -1 0. 006) versus (0. 087 ± 0. 003) mmol·mg protein, P 〈 0.01 ), reduced catalase activity [ ( 14.81 ± 3.22) ver- sus (28.49 ± 1.62) units · mg^-1 protein, P 〈 0.01 ] and downregulated mRNA for AT1R (0.27 ± 0.02 versus 0.95 ± 0.02, P 〈 0.01 ). We conclude that afferent arteriolar responses to Ang II are impaired selectively in mice after renal ischemia reperfusion by accumulation of H202 and reduced expression of AT1R.展开更多

The vehicle routing problem (VRP) can be described as the problem of designing the optimal delivery or collection routes from one or several depots to a number of geographically scattered customers, subject to load co...The vehicle routing problem (VRP) can be described as the problem of designing the optimal delivery or collection routes from one or several depots to a number of geographically scattered customers, subject to load constraints. The routing decision involves determining which of the demand s will be satisfied by each vehicle and what route each vehicle will follow in s erving its assigned demand in order to minimize total delivery cost. In this pap er, a methodology for the design of VRP by integrating optimization and simulate d annealing (SA) approach is presented hierarchically. To express the problem of vehicle routing, a new mathematical formulation is first conducted. The objecti ve function involves both the delivery cost and the vehicle acquisition cost wit h load constraints. A heuristic is then proposed to solve this problem by using SA procedure in conjunction with any solution procedure of travelling salesman p roblem (TSP). The initial configuration is arranged as one vehicle route ser ving one customer. The SA searching procedure is then developed to combine custo mer to any one of the vehicle routes existed in the system if the capacity and c ost are attractive. An important concept of this proposed heuristic is that it attempts to minimize total number of vehicle required in the system on the b asis of the fixed cost and the variable cost view points. In addition, this appr oach can be easily adapted to accommodate many additional problem complexities.展开更多

Com- pared to the sham group, renal ischemia reperfusion significantly increased the renal cortical H202 (0. 123 ± -1 0. 006) versus (0. 087 ± 0. 003) mmol·mg protein, P 〈 0.01 ), reduced catalase activity [ ( 14.81 ± 3.22) ver- sus (28.49 ± 1.62) units · mg^-1 protein, P 〈 0.01 ] and downregulated mRNA for AT1R (0.27 ± 0.02 versus 0.95 ± 0.02, P 〈 0.01 ). We conclude that afferent arteriolar responses to Ang II are impaired selectively in mice after renal ischemia reperfusion by accumulation of H202 and reduced expression of AT1R.

文摘The vehicle routing problem (VRP) can be described as the problem of designing the optimal delivery or collection routes from one or several depots to a number of geographically scattered customers, subject to load constraints. The routing decision involves determining which of the demand s will be satisfied by each vehicle and what route each vehicle will follow in s erving its assigned demand in order to minimize total delivery cost. In this pap er, a methodology for the design of VRP by integrating optimization and simulate d annealing (SA) approach is presented hierarchically. To express the problem of vehicle routing, a new mathematical formulation is first conducted. The objecti ve function involves both the delivery cost and the vehicle acquisition cost wit h load constraints. A heuristic is then proposed to solve this problem by using SA procedure in conjunction with any solution procedure of travelling salesman p roblem (TSP). The initial configuration is arranged as one vehicle route ser ving one customer. The SA searching procedure is then developed to combine custo mer to any one of the vehicle routes existed in the system if the capacity and c ost are attractive. An important concept of this proposed heuristic is that it attempts to minimize total number of vehicle required in the system on the b asis of the fixed cost and the variable cost view points. In addition, this appr oach can be easily adapted to accommodate many additional problem complexities.
