The finite volume method was applied to numerically simulate the bottom pressure field induced by regular waves,vehicles in calm water and vehicles in regular waves.The solution of Navier-Stokes(N-S)equations in the v...The finite volume method was applied to numerically simulate the bottom pressure field induced by regular waves,vehicles in calm water and vehicles in regular waves.The solution of Navier-Stokes(N-S)equations in the vicinity of numerical wave tank's boundary was forced towards the wave theoretical solution by incorporating momentum source terms,thereby reducing adverse effects such as wave reflection.Simulations utilizing laminar flow,turbulent flow,and ideal fluid models were all found capable of effectively capturing the waveform and bottom pressure of regular waves,agreeing well with experimental data.In predicting the bottom pressure field of the submerged vehicle,turbulent simulations considering fluid viscosity and boundary layer development provided more accurate predictions for the stern region than inviscid simulations.Due to sphere's diffractive effect,the sphere's bottom pressure field in waves is not a linear superposition of the wave's and the sphere's bottom pressure field.However,a slender submerged vehicle exhibits a weaker diffractive effect on waves,thus the submerged vehicle's bottom pressure field in waves can be approximated as a linear superposition of the wave's and the submerged vehicle's bottom pressure field,which simplifies computation and analysis.展开更多

Meanwhile, in the studies conducted in the field of pressure sensors, the measurement of subtle pressures has received less attention. The limitations in the inherent gauge factor in silicon, have led to the development of polymer and composite resistive sensitive elements. However,in the development of resistance sensing elements, the structure of composite elements with reinforcement core has not been used. The proposed PS had a composite sandwich structure consisting of a nanocomposite graphene layer covered by layers of PDMS at the bottom and on the top coupled with a polyimide(PI) core. Various tests were performed to analyze the PS. The primary design target was improved sensitivity, with a finite-element method(FEM) utilized to simulate the stress profile over piezoresistive elements and membrane deflection at various pressures. The PS manufacturing process is based on Laser-engraved graphene(LEG) technology and PDMS casting. Experimental data indicated that the manufactured PS exhibits a sensitivity of 67.28 mV/kPa for a pressure range of 30-300 Pa in ambient temperature.展开更多

Taking a C1x motor with a backward-facing step which can generate a typical corner vortex as a reference,a numerical methodology using large eddy simulation was established in this study.Based on this methodology,the ...Taking a C1x motor with a backward-facing step which can generate a typical corner vortex as a reference,a numerical methodology using large eddy simulation was established in this study.Based on this methodology,the position of the backward-facing step of the motor was computed and analyzed to determine a basic configuration.Two key geometrical parameters,the head cavity angle and submerged nozzle cavity height,were subsequently introduced.Their effects on the corner vortex motion and their interactions with the acoustic pressure downstream of the backward-facing step were analyzed.The phenomena of vortex acoustic coupling and characteristics of pressure oscillations were further explored.The results show that the maximum error between the simulations and experimental data on the dominant frequency of pressure oscillations is 5.23%,which indicates that the numerical methodology built in this study is highly accurate.When the step is located at less than 5/8 of the total length of the combustion chamber,vortex acoustic coupling occurs,which can increase the pressure oscillations in the motor.Both the vorticity and the scale of vortices in the downstream step increase when the head cavity angle is greater than 24°,which increases the amplitude of the pressure oscillation by maximum 63.0%.The submerged nozzle cavity mainly affects the vortices in the cavity itself rather than those in the downstream step.When the height of the cavity increases from 10 to 20 mm,the pressure oscillation amplitude under the main frequency increases by 39.1%.As this height continues to increase,the amplitude of pressure oscillations increases but the primary frequency decreases.展开更多

The regulation of the burning rate pressure exponent for the ammonium perchlorate/hydroxylterminated polybutadiene/aluminum(AP/HTPB/Al)composite propellants under high pressures is a crucial step for its application i...The regulation of the burning rate pressure exponent for the ammonium perchlorate/hydroxylterminated polybutadiene/aluminum(AP/HTPB/Al)composite propellants under high pressures is a crucial step for its application in high-pressure solid rocket motors.In this work,the combustion characteristics of AP/HTPB/Al composite propellants containing ferrocene-based catalysts were investigated,including the burning rate,thermal behavior,the local heat transfer,and temperature profile in the range of 7-28 MPa.The results showed that the exponent breaks were still observed in the propellants after the addition of positive catalysts(Ce-Fc-MOF),the burning rate inhibitor((Ferrocenylmethyl)trimethylammonium bromide,Fc Br)and the mixture of Fc Br/catocene(GFP).However,the characteristic pressure has increased,and the exponent decreased from 1.14 to 0.66,0.55,and 0.48 when the addition of Ce-FcMOF,Fc Br and Fc Br/GFP in the propellants.In addition,the temperature in the first decomposition stage was increased by 7.50℃ and 11.40℃ for the AP/Fc Br mixture and the AP/Fc Br/GFP mixture,respectively,compared to the pure AP.On the other hand,the temperature in the second decomposition stage decreased by 48.30℃ and 81.70℃ for AP/Fc Br and AP/Fc Br/GFP mixtures,respectively.It was also found that Fc Br might generate ammonia to cover the AP surface.In this case,a reaction between the methyl in Fc Br and perchloric acid caused more ammonia to appear at the AP surface,resulting in the suppression of ammonia desorption.In addition,the coarse AP particles on the quenched surface were of a concave shape relative to the binder matrix under low and high pressures when the catalysts were added.In the process,the decline at the AP/HTPB interface was only exhibited in the propellant with the addition of Ce-Fc-MOF.The ratio of the gas-phase temperature gradient of the propellants containing catalysts was reduced significantly below and above the characteristic pressure,rather than 3.6 times of the difference in the blank propellant.Overall,the obtained results demonstrated that the pressure exponent could be effectively regulated and controlled by adjusting the propellant local heat and mass transfer under high and low pressures.展开更多
A hull structure is prone to local deformation and damage due to the pressure load on the surface.How to simulate surface pressure is an important issue in ship structure test.The loading mode of hydraulic actuator co...A hull structure is prone to local deformation and damage due to the pressure load on the surface.How to simulate surface pressure is an important issue in ship structure test.The loading mode of hydraulic actuator combined with high-pressure flexible bladder was proposed,and the numerical model of the loading device based on flexible bladder was established.The design and analysis method of high-pressure flexible bladder based on aramid-fiber reinforced thermoplastic polyurethane was proposed to break through the surface pressure loading technology of ship structures.The surface pressure loading system based on flexible bladder was developed.The ultimate strength verification test of the box girder under the combined action of bending moment and pressure was carried out to systematically verify the feasibility and applicability of the loading system.The results show that the surface pressure loading technology can be used well for applying uniform pressure to ship structures.Compared with the traditional surface loading methods,the improved device can be applied with horizontal constant pressure load,with rapid response and safe process,and the pressure load is always stable with the increase of the bending moment load during the test.The requirement for uniform loading in the comprehensive strength test of large structural models is satisfied and the accuracy of the test results is improved by this system.展开更多
Brain tissue is one of the softest parts of the human body,composed of white matter and grey matter.The mechanical behavior of the brain tissue plays an essential role in regulating brain morphology and brain function...Brain tissue is one of the softest parts of the human body,composed of white matter and grey matter.The mechanical behavior of the brain tissue plays an essential role in regulating brain morphology and brain function.Besides,traumatic brain injury(TBI)and various brain diseases are also greatly influenced by the brain's mechanical properties.Whether white matter or grey matter,brain tissue contains multiscale structures composed of neurons,glial cells,fibers,blood vessels,etc.,each with different mechanical properties.As such,brain tissue exhibits complex mechanical behavior,usually with strong nonlinearity,heterogeneity,and directional dependence.Building a constitutive law for multiscale brain tissue using traditional function-based approaches can be very challenging.Instead,this paper proposes a data-driven approach to establish the desired mechanical model of brain tissue.We focus on blood vessels with internal pressure embedded in a white or grey matter matrix material to demonstrate our approach.The matrix is described by an isotropic or anisotropic nonlinear elastic model.A representative unit cell(RUC)with blood vessels is built,which is used to generate the stress-strain data under different internal blood pressure and various proportional displacement loading paths.The generated stress-strain data is then used to train a mechanical law using artificial neural networks to predict the macroscopic mechanical response of brain tissue under different internal pressures.Finally,the trained material model is implemented into finite element software to predict the mechanical behavior of a whole brain under intracranial pressure and distributed body forces.Compared with a direct numerical simulation that employs a reference material model,our proposed approach greatly reduces the computational cost and improves modeling efficiency.The predictions made by our trained model demonstrate sufficient accuracy.Specifically,we find that the level of internal blood pressure can greatly influence stress distribution and determine the possible related damage behaviors.展开更多
In the process of shield tunneling through soft soil layers,the presence of confined water ahead poses a significant threat to the stability of the tunnel face.Therefore,it is crucial to consider the impact of confine...In the process of shield tunneling through soft soil layers,the presence of confined water ahead poses a significant threat to the stability of the tunnel face.Therefore,it is crucial to consider the impact of confined water on the limit support pressure of the tunnel face.This study employed the finite element method(FEM)to analyze the limit support pressure of shield tunnel face instability within a pressurized water-containing layer.Subsequently,a multiple linear regression approach was applied to derive a concise solution formula for the limit support pressure,incorporating various influencing factors.The analysis yields the following conclusions:1)The influence of confined water on the instability mode of the tunnel face in soft soil layers makes the displacement response of the strata not significant when the face is unstable;2)The limit support pressure increases approximately linearly with the pressure head,shield tunnel diameter,and tunnel burial depth.And inversely proportional to the thickness of the impermeable layer,soil cohesion and internal friction angle;3)Through an engineering case study analysis,the results align well with those obtained from traditional theoretical methods,thereby validating the rationality of the equations proposed in this paper.Furthermore,the proposed equations overcome the limitation of traditional theoretical approaches considering the influence of changes in impermeable layer thickness.It can accurately depict the dynamic variation in the required limit support pressure to maintain the stability of the tunnel face during shield tunneling,thus better reflecting engineering reality.展开更多

Most earth-dam failures are mainly due to seepage,and an accurate assessment of the permeability coefficient provides an indication to avoid a disaster.Parametric uncertainties are encountered in the seepage analysis,...Most earth-dam failures are mainly due to seepage,and an accurate assessment of the permeability coefficient provides an indication to avoid a disaster.Parametric uncertainties are encountered in the seepage analysis,and may be reduced by an inverse procedure that calibrates the simulation results to observations on the real system being simulated.This work proposes an adaptive Bayesian inversion method solved using artificial neural network(ANN)based Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulation.The optimized surrogate model achieves a coefficient of determination at 0.98 by ANN with 247 samples,whereby the computational workload can be greatly reduced.It is also significant to balance the accuracy and efficiency of the ANN model by adaptively updating the sample database.The enrichment samples are obtained from the posterior distribution after iteration,which allows a more accurate and rapid manner to the target posterior.The method was then applied to the hydraulic analysis of an earth dam.After calibrating the global permeability coefficient of the earth dam with the pore water pressure at the downstream unsaturated location,it was validated by the pore water pressure monitoring values at the upstream saturated location.In addition,the uncertainty in the permeability coefficient was reduced,from 0.5 to 0.05.It is shown that the provision of adequate prior information is valuable for improving the efficiency of the Bayesian inversion.展开更多

Due to the objective existence of the parameter randomness of soil, the statistical properties of random variables were determined by the maximum entropy principle, and the Monte Carlo method was employed to calculate the failure probability of a pressurized tunnel. The results show that the randomness of soil parameters exerts great influence on the stability of a pressurized tunnel, which indicates that the research should be done on the topic of determination of statistical distribution for geotechnical parameters and the level of variability. For the failure probability of a pressurized tunnel under multiple failure modes, the corresponding safe retaining pressures and optimal range of safe retaining pressures are calculated by introducing allowable failure probability and minimum allowable failure probability. The results can provide practical use in the pressurized tunnel engineering.展开更多

Due to the complexity of field conditions, the pullout behaviour of cement grouted soil nail in field is not well investigated. In this work, a number of field pullout tests of pressure grouted soil nails were conducted to estimate the pullout resistance of soil nails. The effective bond lengths of field soil nails were accurately controlled by a new grouting packer system. Typical field test results and the related comparison with typical laboratory test results reveal that the apparent coefficient of friction (ACF) decreases with the increase of overburden soil pressure when grouting pressure is constant, but increases almost linearly with the increase of grouting pressure when overburden pressure (soil depth) is unchanged. Water contents of soil samples at soil nail surfaces show obvious reductions compared with the results of soil samples from drillholes. After soil nails were completely pulled out of the ground, surface conditions of the soil nails and surrounding soil were examined. It is found that the water content values of the soil at the soil/nail interfaces decrease substantially compared with those of soil samples extracted from drillholes. In addition, all soil nails expand significantly in the diametrical direction after being pulled out of ground, indicating that the pressurized cement grout compacts the soil and penetrates into soil voids, leading to a corresponding shift of failure surface into surrounding soil mass significantly.展开更多
To investigate the influence of bluff body shape on wall pressure distribution in a vortex flowmeter,experiments were conducted on a specially designed test section in a closed water rig at Reynolds numbers of 6.2...To investigate the influence of bluff body shape on wall pressure distribution in a vortex flowmeter,experiments were conducted on a specially designed test section in a closed water rig at Reynolds numbers of 6.2×10 4-9.3×10 4.The cross sections of the bluff bodies were semicircular,square,and triangular shaped,and there were totally 21 pressure tappings along the conduit to acquire the wall pressures.It is found that the variation trends of wall pressures are basically identical regardless of the bluff body shapes.The wall pressures begin to diverge from 0.3D(D is the inner diameter of the vortex flowmeter) in front of the bluff body due to the diversity in shape,and all reach the minimum values at 0.3D behind the bluff body.A discrepancy between the triangular or square cylinder and the semicircular cylinder in wall pressure change is observed at 0-0.1D behind the bluff body.It is also found that the wall pressures and irrecoverable pressure loss coefficients increase with flow rates,and the triangular cylinder causes the smallest irrecoverable pressure loss at a fixed flow rate.展开更多

文摘The finite volume method was applied to numerically simulate the bottom pressure field induced by regular waves,vehicles in calm water and vehicles in regular waves.The solution of Navier-Stokes(N-S)equations in the vicinity of numerical wave tank's boundary was forced towards the wave theoretical solution by incorporating momentum source terms,thereby reducing adverse effects such as wave reflection.Simulations utilizing laminar flow,turbulent flow,and ideal fluid models were all found capable of effectively capturing the waveform and bottom pressure of regular waves,agreeing well with experimental data.In predicting the bottom pressure field of the submerged vehicle,turbulent simulations considering fluid viscosity and boundary layer development provided more accurate predictions for the stern region than inviscid simulations.Due to sphere's diffractive effect,the sphere's bottom pressure field in waves is not a linear superposition of the wave's and the sphere's bottom pressure field.However,a slender submerged vehicle exhibits a weaker diffractive effect on waves,thus the submerged vehicle's bottom pressure field in waves can be approximated as a linear superposition of the wave's and the submerged vehicle's bottom pressure field,which simplifies computation and analysis.
文摘In order to address the current inability of screen printing to monitor printing pressure online,an online printing pressure monitoring system applied to screen printing machines was designed in this study.In this study,the consistency of printed electrodes was measured by using a confocal microscope and the pressure distribution detected by online pressure monitoring system was compared to investigate the relationship.The results demonstrated the relationship between printing pressure and the consistency of printed electrodes.As printing pressure increases,the ink layer at the corresponding position becomes thicker and that higher printing pressure enhances the consistency of the printed electrodes.The experiment confirms the feasibility of the online pressure monitoring system,which aids in predicting and controlling the consistency of printed electrodes,thereby improving their performance.
文摘The pressure and temperature increase resulting from the impact of different threats onto target materials is analyzed with a unified laboratory-scale setup.This allows deriving qualitative information on the occurring phenomenology as well as quantitative statements about the relative effects sizes as a function of target material and threat.The considered target materials are steel,aluminum,and magnesium.As threats,kinetic energy penetrator,explosively formed projectile,and shaped charge jet are used.For the investigated combinations,the measured overpressures vary by a factor of up to 5 for a variation of the material,by a factor of up to 7 for a variation of the threat,and by a factor larger than 15for a simultaneous variation of both.The obtained results as well as the experimental approach are relevant for the basic understanding of impact effects and risks due to material reactivity.The paper combines two main aims.Firstly,to provide a summary of own prior work in a coherent journal article and,secondly,to review and discuss these earlier results with a new perspective.
文摘The Design and manufacturing of a noble piezoresistive pressure sensor(PS) for subtle pressures(<1 kPa) were presented. Meanwhile, in the studies conducted in the field of pressure sensors, the measurement of subtle pressures has received less attention. The limitations in the inherent gauge factor in silicon, have led to the development of polymer and composite resistive sensitive elements. However,in the development of resistance sensing elements, the structure of composite elements with reinforcement core has not been used. The proposed PS had a composite sandwich structure consisting of a nanocomposite graphene layer covered by layers of PDMS at the bottom and on the top coupled with a polyimide(PI) core. Various tests were performed to analyze the PS. The primary design target was improved sensitivity, with a finite-element method(FEM) utilized to simulate the stress profile over piezoresistive elements and membrane deflection at various pressures. The PS manufacturing process is based on Laser-engraved graphene(LEG) technology and PDMS casting. Experimental data indicated that the manufactured PS exhibits a sensitivity of 67.28 mV/kPa for a pressure range of 30-300 Pa in ambient temperature.

文摘In this paper,a type of reinforcing structure for composite shell with single and through hole is presented.The experimental tests for the composite shells without hole,with single hole and reinforced structure,with through hole and reinforced structure subjected to hydrostatic pressure were carried out by the designed experimental test system.The mechanical responses of the composite shells under hydrostatic pressure are obtained by the high-speed camera and strain measurement.The results show that the entire deformation process of the shell can be divided into three:uniform compression,"buckling mode formation"and buckling.The"buckling mode formation"process is captured and reported for the first time.For the composite shell with single hole,the proposed reinforcing structure has a significant reinforcement effect on the shell and the buckling capacity of the shell is not weaker than the complete composite shell.For the composite shell with through hole,sealing effect can be achieved by the proposed reinforcing structure,but the buckling capacity of the shell after reinforcement can only reach 77%of the original buckling capacity.

文摘Taking a C1x motor with a backward-facing step which can generate a typical corner vortex as a reference,a numerical methodology using large eddy simulation was established in this study.Based on this methodology,the position of the backward-facing step of the motor was computed and analyzed to determine a basic configuration.Two key geometrical parameters,the head cavity angle and submerged nozzle cavity height,were subsequently introduced.Their effects on the corner vortex motion and their interactions with the acoustic pressure downstream of the backward-facing step were analyzed.The phenomena of vortex acoustic coupling and characteristics of pressure oscillations were further explored.The results show that the maximum error between the simulations and experimental data on the dominant frequency of pressure oscillations is 5.23%,which indicates that the numerical methodology built in this study is highly accurate.When the step is located at less than 5/8 of the total length of the combustion chamber,vortex acoustic coupling occurs,which can increase the pressure oscillations in the motor.Both the vorticity and the scale of vortices in the downstream step increase when the head cavity angle is greater than 24°,which increases the amplitude of the pressure oscillation by maximum 63.0%.The submerged nozzle cavity mainly affects the vortices in the cavity itself rather than those in the downstream step.When the height of the cavity increases from 10 to 20 mm,the pressure oscillation amplitude under the main frequency increases by 39.1%.As this height continues to increase,the amplitude of pressure oscillations increases but the primary frequency decreases.

文摘Narrow backfill earth pressure estimation is applied to study the stability of supporting structures in the vicinity of existing buildings.Previous narrow backfill earth pressure studies have neglected seismic-unsaturated seepage multi-field coupling,resulting in inaccurate estimates.To address these deficiencies,this paper proposed a calculation method for seismic passive earth pressure in unsaturated narrow backfill,based on inclined thin-layer units.It considers the interlayer shear stress,arching effect,and the multi-field coupling of seismic-unsaturated seepage.Additionally,this paper includes a parametric sensitivity analysis.The outcomes indicate that the earthquake passive ground pressure of unsaturated narrow backfill can be reduced by increasing the aspect ratio,seismic acceleration coefficient,and unsaturation parameterα.It can also be reduced by decreasing the effective interior friction angle,soil cohesion,wallearth friction angle,and vertical discharge.Furthermore,for any width soil,lowering the elevation of the action point of passive thrust can be attained by raising the effective interior friction angle,wall-earth friction angle,and unsaturation parameterα.Reducing soil cohesion,seismic acceleration coefficient,and vertical discharge can also lower the height of the application point of passive thrust.

文摘Because of actual requirement,shield machine always excavates with an inclined angle in longitudinal direction.Since many previous studies mainly focus on the face stability of the horizontal shield tunnel,the effects of tensile strength cut-off and pore water pressure on the face stability of the longitudinally inclined shield tunnel are not well investigated.A failure mechanism of a longitudinally inclined shield tunnel face is constructed based on the spatial discretization technique and the tensile strength cut-off criterion is introduced to modify the constructed failure mechanism.The pore water pressure is introduced as an external force into the equation of virtual work and the objective function of the chamber pressure of the shield machine is obtained.Moreover,the critical chamber pressure of the longitudinally inclined shield tunnel is computed by optimal calculation.Parametric analysis indicates that both tensile strength cut-off and pore water pressure have a significant impact on the chamber pressure and the range of the collapse block.Finally,the theoretical results are compared with the numerical results calculated by FLAC3D software which proves that the proposed approach is effective.

文摘The regulation of the burning rate pressure exponent for the ammonium perchlorate/hydroxylterminated polybutadiene/aluminum(AP/HTPB/Al)composite propellants under high pressures is a crucial step for its application in high-pressure solid rocket motors.In this work,the combustion characteristics of AP/HTPB/Al composite propellants containing ferrocene-based catalysts were investigated,including the burning rate,thermal behavior,the local heat transfer,and temperature profile in the range of 7-28 MPa.The results showed that the exponent breaks were still observed in the propellants after the addition of positive catalysts(Ce-Fc-MOF),the burning rate inhibitor((Ferrocenylmethyl)trimethylammonium bromide,Fc Br)and the mixture of Fc Br/catocene(GFP).However,the characteristic pressure has increased,and the exponent decreased from 1.14 to 0.66,0.55,and 0.48 when the addition of Ce-FcMOF,Fc Br and Fc Br/GFP in the propellants.In addition,the temperature in the first decomposition stage was increased by 7.50℃ and 11.40℃ for the AP/Fc Br mixture and the AP/Fc Br/GFP mixture,respectively,compared to the pure AP.On the other hand,the temperature in the second decomposition stage decreased by 48.30℃ and 81.70℃ for AP/Fc Br and AP/Fc Br/GFP mixtures,respectively.It was also found that Fc Br might generate ammonia to cover the AP surface.In this case,a reaction between the methyl in Fc Br and perchloric acid caused more ammonia to appear at the AP surface,resulting in the suppression of ammonia desorption.In addition,the coarse AP particles on the quenched surface were of a concave shape relative to the binder matrix under low and high pressures when the catalysts were added.In the process,the decline at the AP/HTPB interface was only exhibited in the propellant with the addition of Ce-Fc-MOF.The ratio of the gas-phase temperature gradient of the propellants containing catalysts was reduced significantly below and above the characteristic pressure,rather than 3.6 times of the difference in the blank propellant.Overall,the obtained results demonstrated that the pressure exponent could be effectively regulated and controlled by adjusting the propellant local heat and mass transfer under high and low pressures.
文摘A hull structure is prone to local deformation and damage due to the pressure load on the surface.How to simulate surface pressure is an important issue in ship structure test.The loading mode of hydraulic actuator combined with high-pressure flexible bladder was proposed,and the numerical model of the loading device based on flexible bladder was established.The design and analysis method of high-pressure flexible bladder based on aramid-fiber reinforced thermoplastic polyurethane was proposed to break through the surface pressure loading technology of ship structures.The surface pressure loading system based on flexible bladder was developed.The ultimate strength verification test of the box girder under the combined action of bending moment and pressure was carried out to systematically verify the feasibility and applicability of the loading system.The results show that the surface pressure loading technology can be used well for applying uniform pressure to ship structures.Compared with the traditional surface loading methods,the improved device can be applied with horizontal constant pressure load,with rapid response and safe process,and the pressure load is always stable with the increase of the bending moment load during the test.The requirement for uniform loading in the comprehensive strength test of large structural models is satisfied and the accuracy of the test results is improved by this system.
文摘Brain tissue is one of the softest parts of the human body,composed of white matter and grey matter.The mechanical behavior of the brain tissue plays an essential role in regulating brain morphology and brain function.Besides,traumatic brain injury(TBI)and various brain diseases are also greatly influenced by the brain's mechanical properties.Whether white matter or grey matter,brain tissue contains multiscale structures composed of neurons,glial cells,fibers,blood vessels,etc.,each with different mechanical properties.As such,brain tissue exhibits complex mechanical behavior,usually with strong nonlinearity,heterogeneity,and directional dependence.Building a constitutive law for multiscale brain tissue using traditional function-based approaches can be very challenging.Instead,this paper proposes a data-driven approach to establish the desired mechanical model of brain tissue.We focus on blood vessels with internal pressure embedded in a white or grey matter matrix material to demonstrate our approach.The matrix is described by an isotropic or anisotropic nonlinear elastic model.A representative unit cell(RUC)with blood vessels is built,which is used to generate the stress-strain data under different internal blood pressure and various proportional displacement loading paths.The generated stress-strain data is then used to train a mechanical law using artificial neural networks to predict the macroscopic mechanical response of brain tissue under different internal pressures.Finally,the trained material model is implemented into finite element software to predict the mechanical behavior of a whole brain under intracranial pressure and distributed body forces.Compared with a direct numerical simulation that employs a reference material model,our proposed approach greatly reduces the computational cost and improves modeling efficiency.The predictions made by our trained model demonstrate sufficient accuracy.Specifically,we find that the level of internal blood pressure can greatly influence stress distribution and determine the possible related damage behaviors.

文摘In the process of shield tunneling through soft soil layers,the presence of confined water ahead poses a significant threat to the stability of the tunnel face.Therefore,it is crucial to consider the impact of confined water on the limit support pressure of the tunnel face.This study employed the finite element method(FEM)to analyze the limit support pressure of shield tunnel face instability within a pressurized water-containing layer.Subsequently,a multiple linear regression approach was applied to derive a concise solution formula for the limit support pressure,incorporating various influencing factors.The analysis yields the following conclusions:1)The influence of confined water on the instability mode of the tunnel face in soft soil layers makes the displacement response of the strata not significant when the face is unstable;2)The limit support pressure increases approximately linearly with the pressure head,shield tunnel diameter,and tunnel burial depth.And inversely proportional to the thickness of the impermeable layer,soil cohesion and internal friction angle;3)Through an engineering case study analysis,the results align well with those obtained from traditional theoretical methods,thereby validating the rationality of the equations proposed in this paper.Furthermore,the proposed equations overcome the limitation of traditional theoretical approaches considering the influence of changes in impermeable layer thickness.It can accurately depict the dynamic variation in the required limit support pressure to maintain the stability of the tunnel face during shield tunneling,thus better reflecting engineering reality.

文摘Ground-based tests are important for studying hypervelocity impact(HVI)damage to spacecraft pressure vessels in the orbital debris environment.We analyzed the damage to composite overwrapped pressure vessels(COPVs)in the HVI tests and classified the damage into non-catastrophic damage and catastrophic damage.We proposed a numerical simulation method to further study non-catastrophic damage and revealed the characteristics and mechanisms of non-catastrophic damage affected by impact conditions and internal pressures.The fragments of the catastrophically damaged COPVs were collected after the tests.The crack distribution and propagation process of the catastrophic ruptures of the COPVs were analyzed.Our findings contribute to understanding the damage characteristics and mechanisms of COPVs by HVIs.

文摘Most earth-dam failures are mainly due to seepage,and an accurate assessment of the permeability coefficient provides an indication to avoid a disaster.Parametric uncertainties are encountered in the seepage analysis,and may be reduced by an inverse procedure that calibrates the simulation results to observations on the real system being simulated.This work proposes an adaptive Bayesian inversion method solved using artificial neural network(ANN)based Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulation.The optimized surrogate model achieves a coefficient of determination at 0.98 by ANN with 247 samples,whereby the computational workload can be greatly reduced.It is also significant to balance the accuracy and efficiency of the ANN model by adaptively updating the sample database.The enrichment samples are obtained from the posterior distribution after iteration,which allows a more accurate and rapid manner to the target posterior.The method was then applied to the hydraulic analysis of an earth dam.After calibrating the global permeability coefficient of the earth dam with the pore water pressure at the downstream unsaturated location,it was validated by the pore water pressure monitoring values at the upstream saturated location.In addition,the uncertainty in the permeability coefficient was reduced,from 0.5 to 0.05.It is shown that the provision of adequate prior information is valuable for improving the efficiency of the Bayesian inversion.

文摘A fast explicit finite difference method (FEFDM),derived from the differential equations of one-dimensional steady pipe flow,was presented for calculation of wellhead injection pressure.Recalculation with a traditional numerical method of the same equations corroborates well the reliability and rate of FEFDM.Moreover,a flow rate estimate method was developed for the project whose injection rate has not been clearly determined.A wellhead pressure regime determined by this method was successfully applied to the trial injection operations in Shihezi formation of Shenhua CCS Project,which is a good practice verification of FEFDM.At last,this method was used to evaluate the effect of friction and acceleration terms on the flow equation on the wellhead pressure.The result shows that for deep wellbore,the friction term can be omitted when flow rate is low and in a wide range of velocity the acceleration term can always be deleted.It is also shown that with flow rate increasing,the friction term can no longer be neglected.

文摘Based on the active failure mechanism and passive failure mechanism for a pressurized tunnel face, the analytical solutions of the minimum collapse pressure and maximum blowout pressure that could maintain the stability of pressurized tunnel faces were deduced using limit analysis in conjunction with nonlinear failure criterion under the condition of pore water pressure. Due to the objective existence of the parameter randomness of soil, the statistical properties of random variables were determined by the maximum entropy principle, and the Monte Carlo method was employed to calculate the failure probability of a pressurized tunnel. The results show that the randomness of soil parameters exerts great influence on the stability of a pressurized tunnel, which indicates that the research should be done on the topic of determination of statistical distribution for geotechnical parameters and the level of variability. For the failure probability of a pressurized tunnel under multiple failure modes, the corresponding safe retaining pressures and optimal range of safe retaining pressures are calculated by introducing allowable failure probability and minimum allowable failure probability. The results can provide practical use in the pressurized tunnel engineering.

文摘Pullout resistance of a soil nail is a critical parameter in design and analysis for geotechnical engineers. Due to the complexity of field conditions, the pullout behaviour of cement grouted soil nail in field is not well investigated. In this work, a number of field pullout tests of pressure grouted soil nails were conducted to estimate the pullout resistance of soil nails. The effective bond lengths of field soil nails were accurately controlled by a new grouting packer system. Typical field test results and the related comparison with typical laboratory test results reveal that the apparent coefficient of friction (ACF) decreases with the increase of overburden soil pressure when grouting pressure is constant, but increases almost linearly with the increase of grouting pressure when overburden pressure (soil depth) is unchanged. Water contents of soil samples at soil nail surfaces show obvious reductions compared with the results of soil samples from drillholes. After soil nails were completely pulled out of the ground, surface conditions of the soil nails and surrounding soil were examined. It is found that the water content values of the soil at the soil/nail interfaces decrease substantially compared with those of soil samples extracted from drillholes. In addition, all soil nails expand significantly in the diametrical direction after being pulled out of ground, indicating that the pressurized cement grout compacts the soil and penetrates into soil voids, leading to a corresponding shift of failure surface into surrounding soil mass significantly.

文摘To investigate the influence of bluff body shape on wall pressure distribution in a vortex flowmeter,experiments were conducted on a specially designed test section in a closed water rig at Reynolds numbers of 6.2×10 4-9.3×10 4.The cross sections of the bluff bodies were semicircular,square,and triangular shaped,and there were totally 21 pressure tappings along the conduit to acquire the wall pressures.It is found that the variation trends of wall pressures are basically identical regardless of the bluff body shapes.The wall pressures begin to diverge from 0.3D(D is the inner diameter of the vortex flowmeter) in front of the bluff body due to the diversity in shape,and all reach the minimum values at 0.3D behind the bluff body.A discrepancy between the triangular or square cylinder and the semicircular cylinder in wall pressure change is observed at 0-0.1D behind the bluff body.It is also found that the wall pressures and irrecoverable pressure loss coefficients increase with flow rates,and the triangular cylinder causes the smallest irrecoverable pressure loss at a fixed flow rate.

文摘The structure and working principle of a self-deigned high pressure electronic pneumatic pressure reducing valve (EPPRV) with slide pilot are introduced.The resistance value formulas and the relationship between the resistance and pressure of three typical pneumatic resistances are obtained.Then,the method of static characteristics analysis only considering pneumatic resistances is proposed,the resistance network from gas supply to load is built up,and the mathematical model is derived from the flow rate formulas and flow conservation equations,with the compressibility of high pressure gas and temperature drop during the expansion considered in the model.Finally,the pilot spool displacement of 1.5 mm at an output pressure of 15MPa and the enlarging operating stroke of the pilot spool are taken as optimization targets,and the optimization is carried out based on genetic algorithm and the model mentioned above.The results show that the static characteristics of the EPPRV are significantly improved.The idea of static characteristics analysis and optimization based on pneumatic resistance network is valuable for the design of pneumatic components or system.

文摘Switching expansion reduction(SER)uses a switch valve instead of the throttle valve to realize electronically controlled pressure reduction for high pressure pneumatics.A comprehensive and interactive pneumatic simulation model according to the experimental setup of SER has been built.The mathematical model considers heat exchanges,source air pressure and temperature,environmental temperatures and heat transfer coefficients variations.In addition,the compensation for real gas effect is used in the model building.The comparison between experiments and simulations of SER indicates that,to compensate the real gas effect in high pressure discharging process,the thermal capacity of air supply container in simulation should be less than the actual value.The higher the pressure range,the greater the deviation.Simulated and experimental results are highly consistent within pressure reduction ratios ranging from 1.4 to 20 and output air mass flow rates ranging from 3.5 to 132 g/s,which verifies the high adaptability of SER and the validity of the mathematic model and the compensation method.
