High signal-to-noise ratio microwave signal generation based on SBS assisted optical heterodyne technology

In this work,the generation of high signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)single-frequency microwave signal without noise sidebands is demonstrated based on the interaction of integrated all-fiber lasers.The microwave signals are generated by the interference between a narrow linewidth Brillouin pump light from a single-frequency laser and the Stokes light generated by it.Firstly,the linewidths of the Stokes lights are compressed to~43 Hz based on the stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS)effect,which ensures that the frequency noise is as low as possible.And then,the relative intensity noise(RIN)of the first order Stokes light is reduced by 21 dB/Hz based on the noise dynamics principle in cascaded SBS effect.By simultaneously reducing the frequency noise and the intensity noise of the coherent signals,the noise sidebands of microwave signals are completely suppressed.As result,the SNR of the microwave signal is improved from 48 dB to 84 dB at the first-order Brillouin frequency shift of 9.415 GHz.Meanwhile,a microwave signal with a SNR of 70 dB is generated at the second-order Brillouin frequency shift of 18.827 GHz.This kind of microwave signals with narrow linewidth and high SNR can provide higher detection resolution and higher transmission efficiency for applications on radar,satellite communication and so on. 展开更多

Cloning scheme for multipartite entangled pure states via photonic quantum walk

The no-cloning theorem has sparked considerable interest in achieving high-fidelity approximate quantum cloning.Most of the previous studies mainly focused on the cloning of single particle states,and cloning schemes used there are incapable of cloning quantum entangled states in multipartite systems.Few schemes were proposed for cloning multiparticle states,which consume more entanglement resources with loss of qubits,and the fidelity of the cloned state is relatively low.In this paper,cloning schemes for bipartite and tripartite entangled states based on photonic quantum walk and entanglement swapping are proposed.The results show that according to the proposed schemes,two high-fidelity(up to 0.75)cloned states can be obtained with less quantum resource consumption.Because of the simple cloning steps,few quantum resources and high fidelity,these schemes are both efficient and feasible.Moreover,this cloning machine eliminates the need for tracing out cloning machine,thereby minimizing resource waste. 展开更多

In the printing industry,the common method of coloring relies on inks,which contains amounts of chemical agents,causing environment pollution.However,structural color achieves coloration through the refraction and diffraction of light by periodic structure,offering eco-friendly and fade-resistant advantages,as well as colorful.In this study,screen printing was used to create patterned mask on paper substrates.Then,coated SiO_(2)microspheres on the mask to create structural color patterns with angle-dependent color characteristics.The patterns showed color changes from rose-red to orange to green by changing the viewing angle.By changing the color grayscale,the absorption of stray light by the substrate was enhanced,thereby the brightness and saturation of the structural color improved too.This method is simple,cost-effective,and environmentally friendly,and it has highly promising for the application in printing and anti-counterfeiting. 展开更多

Optimizing the generation of second harmonic optical vortices from nonlinear photonic crystals

The generation of optical vortices from nonlinear photonic crystals(NPCs)with spatially modulated second-order nonlinearity offers a promising approach to extend the working wavelength and topological charge of vortex beams for various applications.In this work,the second harmonic(SH)optical vortex beams generated from nonlinear fork gratings under Gaussian beam illumination are numerically investigated.The far-field intensity and phase distributions,as well as the orbital angular momentum(OAM)spectra of the SH beams,are analyzed for different structural topological charges and diffraction orders.Results reveal that higher-order diffraction and larger structural topological charges lead to angular interference patterns and non-uniform intensity distributions,deviating from the standard vortex profile.To optimize the SH vortex quality,the effects of the fundamental wave beam waist,crystal thickness,and grating duty cycle are explored.It is shown that increasing the beam waist can effectively suppress diffraction order interference and improve the beam’s quality.This study provides theoretical guidance for enhancing the performance of nonlinear optical devices based on NPCs. 展开更多

The Disc Acceleration e Xperiment(DAX)is one of the most recent experimental methods of performance characterization of new energetic materials.A cylindrical explosive charge accelerates a thin metallic disc and its velocity is measured continuously using photonic Doppler velocimetry.The detonation velocity is measured simultaneously.The DAX test can be used to obtain the Chapman-Jouguet(CJ)detonation pressure and to describe detonation products expansion using reduced amount of explosive.A series of DAX tests was performed at various charge diameters and disc thicknesses with Semtex 1 A plastic bonded explosive and sensitized nitromethane.The DAX-like evaluation was also applied to previously measured data of Semtex 1A and A-IX-1 explosives.The optimum disc thickness is determined by the disc to explosive mass ratio of 0.01-0.08.The repeatability of the Semtex 1 A detonation pressure results is about four times lower compared to the pressed and liquid explosives. 展开更多

This article introduces a method of achieving high polarization extinction ratio using a subwavelength grating structure on a lithium niobate thin film platform,and the chip is formed on the surface of the lithium niobate thin film.The chip,with a length of just 20μm,achieved a measured polarization extinction ratio of 29 dB at 1550 nm wavelength.This progress not only proves the possibility of achieving a high extinction ratio on a lithium niobate thin film platform,but also offers important technical references for future work on polarization beam splitters,integrated fiber optic gyroscopes,and so on. 展开更多

Traditional cooling systems have been posing a significant challenge to the global energy crisis and climate change due to the high energy consumption of the cooling process.In recent years,the emerging daytime radiative cooling provides a promising solution to address the bottleneck of traditional cooling technology by passively dissipating heat radiation to outer space without any energy consumption through the atmospheric transparency window(8~13μm).Whereas its stringent optical criteria require sophisticated and high cost fabrication producers,which hinders the applicability of radiative cooling technology.Many efforts have been devoted to develop high-efficiency and low-cost daytime radiative cooling technologies for practical application,including the nanophotonics based artificial strategy and bioinspired strategy.In order to systematically summarize the development and latest advance of daytime radiative cooling to help developing the most promising approach,here in this paper we will review and compare the two typical strategies on exploring the prospect approach for applicable radiative cooling technology.We will firstly sketch the fundamental of radiative cooling and summarize the common methods for construction radiative cooling devices.Then we will put an emphasis on the summarization and comparison of the two strategies for designing the radiative cooling device,and outlook the prospect and extending application of the daytime radiative cooling technology. 展开更多

为了确定Hexanitrostilbene-Ⅳ(HNS-Ⅳ)炸药在高压短脉冲作用下的全发火冲击起爆判据参数,采用Exploding Foil Initiation system(EFIs,爆炸箔起爆系统)驱动三种厚度的聚酰亚胺飞片(12.5,40μm和50μm)撞击HNS-Ⅳ炸药柱,用升降法进行发... 为了确定Hexanitrostilbene-Ⅳ(HNS-Ⅳ)炸药在高压短脉冲作用下的全发火冲击起爆判据参数,采用Exploding Foil Initiation system(EFIs,爆炸箔起爆系统)驱动三种厚度的聚酰亚胺飞片(12.5,40μm和50μm)撞击HNS-Ⅳ炸药柱,用升降法进行发火试验,获得了三种厚度飞片对应的最小全发火充电电压,Photon Doppler Velocimetry(PDV)方法获得最小全发火充电电压下飞片的撞击速度分别为3400,3100 m·s^-1和2930 m·s^-1。基于冲击波理论和动力学仿真,分别获得三种厚度飞片在该撞击速度下撞击HNS-Ⅳ型炸药的界面压力p、界面粒子速度u和持续时间τ,通过数据拟合确定HNS-Ⅳ型炸药在高压短脉冲作用下的全发火冲击起爆判据参数。研究结果表明,对于装药密度为1.56 g·cm^-3的HNS-Ⅳ装药,在撞击界面压力为10~13 GPa和持续时间为4.0~8.7 ns的范围内,全发火pnt判据为:p2.88τ≥7.21。 展开更多
