In this paper,a new technique is introduced to construct higher-order iterative methods for solving nonlinear systems.The order of convergence of some iterative methods can be improved by three at the cost of introducing only one additional evaluation of the function in each step.Furthermore,some new efficient methods with a higher-order of convergence are obtained by using only a single matrix inversion in each iteration.Analyses of convergence properties and computational efficiency of these new methods are made and testified by several numerical problems.By comparison,the new schemes are more efficient than the corresponding existing ones,particularly for large problem sizes. 展开更多

The problem of robustifying linear quadratic regulators (LQRs) for a class of uncertain affine nonlinear systems is considered. First, the exact linearization technique is used to transform an uncertain nonlinear system into a linear one and an optimal LQR is designed for the corresponding nominal system. Then, based on the integral sliding mode, a design approach to robustifying the optimal regulator is studied. As a result, the system exhibits global robustness to uncertainties and the ideal sliding mode dynamics is the same as that of the optimal LQR for the nominal system. A global robust optimal sliding mode control (GROSMC) is realized. Finally, a numerical simulation is demonstrated to show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed algorithm compared with the conventional optimal LQR. 展开更多

Firstly, an integral terminal sliding mode surface is presented, which not only avoids the singularity in the traditional terminal sliding mode, but also addresses the mismatched problems in the nonlinear control system. Secondly, a new ITSM controller with finite convergence time based on the backstepping technique is derived for a cascaded nonlinear dynamical system with mismatched uncertainties. Thirdly, the convergence time of ITSM is analyzed, whose convergence speed is faster than those of two nonsingular terminal sliding modes.Finally, simulation results are presented in order to evaluate the effectiveness of ITSM control strategies for mismatched uncertainties. 展开更多

A new adaptive Type-2 (T2) fuzzy controller was developed and its potential performance advantage over adaptive Type-1 (T1) fuzzy control was also quantified in computer simulation. Base on the Lyapunov method, the adaptive laws with guaranteed system stability and convergence were developed. The controller updates its parameters online using the laws to control a system and tracks its output command trajectory. The simulation study involving the popular inverted pendulum control problem shows theoretically predicted system stability and good tracking performance. And the comparison simulation experiments subjected to white noige or step disturbance indicate that the T2 controller is better than the T1 controller by 0--18%, depending on the experiment condition and performance measure. 展开更多

In this work, an improved constrained model predictive control algorithm is presented for Hammerstein-Wiener systems. In the new approach, the maximum and minimum of partial derivative for input and output nonlinearities are solved in the neighbourhood of the equilibrium. And several parameter-dependent Lyapunov functions, each one corresponding to a different vertex of polytopic descriptions models, are introduced to analyze the stability of Hammerstein-Wiener systems, but only one Lyapunov function is utilized to analyze system stability like the traditional method. Consequently, the conservation of the traditional quadratic stability is removed, and the terminal regions are enlarged. Simulation and field trial results show that the proposed algorithm is valid. It has higher control precision and shorter blowing time than the traditional approach. 展开更多

The uncertainties in the systems are due to parameter variations and external stochastic disturbance. Only the matched conditions and the possible bound of the uncertainties are demanded. Based on the stochastic Lyapunov stability theory, an explicit controller is constructed in the gradient direction, which renders responses of the closed-loop systems be globally bounded in probability. When the systems degrade to linear systems, the controller becomes linear. Illustrative examples are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

In the field of fault diagnosis, the state equation of nonlinear system, including the actuator and the component, has been established. When the faults in the system appear, it is difficult to observe the fault isolation between the actuator and the component. In order to diagnose the component fault in the nonlinear systems, a novel strategy is proposed. The nonlinear state equation with only the component system is built on mathematical equations. The nonlinearity of the component equation is expanded and estimated with Taylor series. If the actuator is perfect, the anomaly of the state equations reflects the component fault. The fault feature index is defined to detect the component fault and the initial fault. The numerical examples of the component faults are simulated for multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)nonlinear systems. The results show that the component faults,as well as the incipient faults, can be detected. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified. This method can also provide a foundation for the component fault reconfiguration control. 展开更多

The exponential passive filtering problem for a class of nonlinear Markov jump systems with uncertainties and time-delays is studied. The uncertain parameters are assumed unknown but norm bounded, and the nonlinearities satisfy the quadratic condition. Based on the passive filtering theory, the sufficient condition for the existence of the mode-dependent passive filter is given by analyzing the reconstructed observer system. By using the appropriate Lyapnnov-Krasovskii function and applying linear matrix inequalities, the design scheme of the passive filter is derived and described as an optimization one. The presented exponential passive filter makes the error dynamic systems exponentially stochastically stable for all the admissible uncertainties, time-delays and nonlinearities, has the better abilities of state tracking and satisfies the given passive norm index. Simulation results demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach. 展开更多

When the states of system cannot be observed, the time-delay state observer is designed to estimate the system states. Domination method is used to deal with nonlinear time-delay function under the assumption that the nonlinear time-delay functions of systems satisfy Lipschitz condition. The global asymptotical tracking of the reference signal is achieved and the bound of all signals of the resultant closed-loop system is also guaranteed. By constructing a Lyapunov-Krasoviskii functional, the stability of the closed-loop system is proved. The feasibility of the proposed approach is illustrated by a simulation example. 展开更多

In this method, two fuzzy logic systems are used to approximate the unknown functions, and the parameters of membership functions in fuzzy logic systems are adjusted according to adaptive laws for the purpose of controlling the plant to track a reference trajectory. It is proved that the scheme can not only guarantee the boundedness of the input and output of the closed-loop system, but also make the tracking error converge to a small neighborhood of the origin. Based on discrete time Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional method, a sufficient delaydependent condition for asymptotic stability of nonlinear systems is offered. Then, this condition is used to design a new efficient delayed state feedback controller(DSFC) for stabilization of such systems. These conditions are in the linear matrix inequality(LMI) framework. Illustrative examples confirm the improvement of the proposed approach over the similar cases. Furthermore, the obtained stability and stabilization conditions will be extended to uncertain discrete time delayed systems(UDTDS) with polytopic parameter uncertainties and also with norm-bounded parameter uncertainties. 展开更多

This paper presents an overview of recent developments on the control of linear and nonlinear systems when the control input is subject to quantization or the quantized states or outputs are used as feedback measurements. The co-existence of high-dimeasionality, quantization, nonlinearity and uncertainty poses great challenges to quantized control of nonlinear systems and thus calls for new ideas and techniques. The field of quantized nonlinear control is still at its infancy. Preliminary results in our recent work based on input-to-state stability and cyclic-small-gain theorems are reviewed.
