This research focuses on detecting faults in flight vehicles with unstable subsystems operating asynchronously.By accounting for asynchronous switching,a switched model is established,and filters for fault detection(FD)in unstable subsystems are developed.The FD challenge is then transformed into an H∞filtering issue.Utilizing the multiple discontinuous Lyapunov function(MDLF)approach and the mode-dependent average dwell time(MDADT)method,sufficient conditions are derived to ensure stability during both fast and slow switching.Furthermore,the existence and solutions for FD filters are provided through linear matrix inequalities(LMIs).The simulation outcomes demonstrated the excellent performance of the developed method in studied cases. 展开更多

To maintain the stability of the inter-satellite link for gravitational wave detection,an intelligent learning monitoring and fast warning method of the inter-satellite link control system failure is proposed.Different from the traditional fault diagnosis optimization algorithms,the fault intelligent learning method pro-posed in this paper is able to quickly identify the faults of inter-satellite link control system despite the existence of strong cou-pling nonlinearity.By constructing a two-layer learning network,the method enables efficient joint diagnosis of fault areas and fault parameters.The simulation results show that the average identification time of the system fault area and fault parameters is 0.27 s,and the fault diagnosis efficiency is improved by 99.8%compared with the traditional algorithm. 展开更多

Focused on the task of fast and accurate armored target detection in ground battlefield,a detection method based on multi-scale representation network(MS-RN) and shape-fixed Guided Anchor(SF-GA)scheme is proposed.Firstly,considering the large-scale variation and camouflage of armored target,a new MS-RN integrating contextual information in battlefield environment is designed.The MS-RN extracts deep features from templates with different scales and strengthens the detection ability of small targets.Armored targets of different sizes are detected on different representation features.Secondly,aiming at the accuracy and real-time detection requirements,improved shape-fixed Guided Anchor is used on feature maps of different scales to recommend regions of interests(ROIs).Different from sliding or random anchor,the SF-GA can filter out 80% of the regions while still improving the recall.A special detection dataset for armored target,named Armored Target Dataset(ARTD),is constructed,based on which the comparable experiments with state-of-art detection methods are conducted.Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves outstanding performance in detection accuracy and efficiency,especially when small armored targets are involved. 展开更多

For the fault detection and diagnosis problem in largescale industrial systems, there are two important issues: the missing data samples and the non-Gaussian property of the data. However, most of the existing data-driven methods cannot be able to handle both of them. Thus, a new Bayesian network classifier based fault detection and diagnosis method is proposed. At first, a non-imputation method is presented to handle the data incomplete samples, with the property of the proposed Bayesian network classifier, and the missing values can be marginalized in an elegant manner. Furthermore, the Gaussian mixture model is used to approximate the non-Gaussian data with a linear combination of finite Gaussian mixtures, so that the Bayesian network can process the non-Gaussian data in an effective way. Therefore, the entire fault detection and diagnosis method can deal with the high-dimensional incomplete process samples in an efficient and robust way. The diagnosis results are expressed in the manner of probability with the reliability scores. The proposed approach is evaluated with a benchmark problem called the Tennessee Eastman process. The simulation results show the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method in fault detection and diagnosis for large-scale systems with missing measurements. 展开更多

The complex systems are often in the structure of multi-operating modes, and the components implementing system functions are different under different operation modes, which results in the problems that components often fail in different operating modes, faults can be only detected in specified operating modes, tests can be available in specified operating modes,and the cost and efficiency of detecting and isolating faults are different under different operating modes and isolation levels. Aiming at these problems, an optimal test selection method for fault detection and isolation in the multi-operating mode system is proposed by using the fault pair coding and rollout algorithm. Firstly,the faults in fault-test correlation matrices under different operating modes are combined to fault-pairs, which is used to construct the fault pair-test correlation matrices under different operating modes.Secondly, the final fault pair-test correlation matrix of the multioperating mode system is obtained by operating the fault pair-test correlation matrices under different operating modes. Based on the final fault pair-test correlation matrix, the necessary tests are selected by the rollout algorithm orderly. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by examples of the optimal test selection in the multi-operating mode system with faults isolated to different levels. The result shows that the proposed method can effectively mine the fault detection and isolation ability of tests and it is suitable for the optimal test selection of the multi-operating mode system with faults isolated to the replacement unit and specific fault. 展开更多

Effective fault detection techniques can help flotation plant reduce reagents consumption,increase mineral recovery,and reduce labor intensity.Traditional,online fault detection methods during flotation processes have concentrated on extracting a specific froth feature for segmentation,like color,shape,size and texture,always leading to undesirable accuracy and efficiency since the same segmentation algorithm could not be applied to every case.In this work,a new integrated method based on convolution neural network(CNN)combined with transfer learning approach and support vector machine(SVM)is proposed to automatically recognize the flotation condition.To be more specific,CNN function as a trainable feature extractor to process the froth images and SVM is used as a recognizer to implement fault detection.As compared with the existed recognition methods,it turns out that the CNN-SVM model can automatically retrieve features from the raw froth images and perform fault detection with high accuracy.Hence,a CNN-SVM based,real-time flotation monitoring system is proposed for application in an antimony flotation plant in China. 展开更多

Now, there are many positive results in FDD for linear networked control systems (LNCSs), but nonlinear networked control systems (NNCSs) are less involved. Based on the T-S fuzzy-modeling theory, NNCSs are modeled and network random time-delays are changed into the unknown bounded uncertain part without changing its structure. Then a fuzzy state observer is designed and an observer-based fault detection approach for an NNCS is presented. The main results are given and the relative theories are proved in detail. To access the objective that the designed robust filter is maximally tolerant to disturbances and sensitive to fault, the robustness and stability properties of the fault diagnosis scheme are established rigorously. Using the residual vector, a fault tolerant controller is established in order to guarantee the stability of the closed-loop system, and the controller law can be obtained by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities. Then, some relevant sufficient conditions for the existence of a solution are given by applying Lyapunov stability theory. An application of the multiobjective fault detection and isolation(FDI) approach to an air-breathing hypersonic vehicle(HSV) longitudinal dynamics subject to disturbances is presented.Maintaining sustainable and safe flight of HSV is a challenging task due to its strong coupling effects,variable operating conditions and possible failures of system components.A common type of system faults for aircraft including HSV is the loss of effectiveness of its actuators and sensors.To detect and isolate multiple actuator/sensor failures,a faulty linear parameter-varying(LPV) model of HSV is derived by converting actuator/system component faults into equivalent sensor faults.Then a bank of LPV FDI observers is designed to track individual fault with minimum error and suppress the effects of disturbances and other fault signals.The simulation results based on the nonlinear flexible HSV model and a nominal LPV controller demonstrate the effectiveness of the fault estimation technique for HSV. 展开更多

After synchronizing the actual data, Fourier and wavelet transformations were adopted in order to obtain the sideband or detail value characteristics under healthy and various faulty operating conditions. The most reliable phase current among the three phase currents was selected using an approach that employs the fuzzy entropy measure. Data were trained with a neural network system, and the fault detection algorithm was verified using the unknown data. Results of the proposed approach based on Fourier and wavelet transformations indicate that the faults can be properly classified into six categories. The training error is 5.3×10-7, and the average test error is 0.103. 展开更多

This algorithm first constructs residual signals by the output of the practical system and the output of the designed fault tracking estimator, and then uses the residuals and the difference- value signal of the adjacent two residuals to gradually revise the introduced virtual faults, which can cause the virtual faults to close to the practical faults in systems, thereby achieving the goal of fault detection for systems. This algorithm not only makes full use of the existing valid information of systems and has a faster tracking con- vergent speed than the proportional-type (P-type) algorithm, but also calculates more simply than the proportional-derivative-type (PD-type) algorithm and avoids the unstable effects of differential operations in the system. This paper addresses the problem of fault detection(FD) for networked systems with access constraints and packet dropouts.Two independent Markov chains are used to describe the sequences of channels which are available for communication at an instant and the packet dropout process,respectively.Performance indexes H∞ and H_ are introduced to describe the robustness of residual against external disturbances and sensitivity of residual to faults,respectively.By using a mode-dependent fault detection filter(FDF) as residual generator,the addressed FD problem is converted into an auxiliary filter design problem with the above index constraints.A sufficient condition for the existence of the FDF is derived in terms of certain linear matrix inequalities(LMIs).When these LMIs are feasible,the explicit expression of the desired FDF can also be characterized.A numerical example is exploited to show the usefulness of the proposed results. 展开更多

Effective bearing fault diagnosis is vital for the safe and reliable operation of rotating machinery.In practical applications,bearings often work at various rotational speeds as well as load conditions.Yet,the bearing fault diagnosis under multiple conditions is a new subject,which needs to be further explored.Therefore,a multi-scale deep belief network(DBN)method integrated with attention mechanism is proposed for the purpose of extracting the multi-scale core features from vibration signals,containing four primary steps:preprocessing of multi-scale data,feature extraction,feature fusion,and fault classification.The key novelties include multi-scale feature extraction using multi-scale DBN algorithm,and feature fusion using attention mecha-nism.The benchmark dataset from University of Ottawa is applied to validate the effectiveness as well as advantages of this method.Furthermore,the aforementioned method is compared with four classical fault diagnosis methods reported in the literature,and the comparison results show that our pro-posed method has higher diagnostic accuracy and better robustness. 展开更多

The fault detection problem for the nonlinear networked control system (NCS) with packet dropout and delay is investigated. A nonlinear stochastic system model is proposed to account for the NCS with random packet dropout and network- induced non-uniformly distributed time-varying delay in both from sensor to controller (S/C) and from controller to actuator (C/A). Based on the obtained NCS model, employing an observer-based fault detection filter as the residual generator, the addressed fault detection problem is converted into an auxiliary nonlinear H∞ control problem. Then, with the help of Lyapunov functional approach, a sufficient condition for the desired fault detection filter is constructed in terms of certain linear matrix inequalities, which depend on not only the delay interval but also the delay interval occurrence rate and successful packet communication rate. Especially, a trade-off phenomenon between the maximum allowable delay bound and successful data packet transmission rate is found, which is typically resulted from the limited bandwidth of communication networks. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by a simulation example. 展开更多

Furthermore, a time domain opti- mization approach is proposed to improve the performance of the fault detection system. To prevent the false alarms, a new thresh- old function is established, and the solution of the optimization problem is given by using the singular value decomposition (SVD) of the matrix. The problem of fault detection for linear discrete timevarying systems with multiplicative noise is dealt with.By using an observer-based robust fault detection filter(FDF) as a residual generator,the design of the FDF is formulated in the framework of H ∞ filtering for a class of stochastic time-varying systems.A sufficient condition for the existence of the FDF is derived in terms of a Riccati equation.The determination of the parameter matrices of the filter is converted into a quadratic optimization problem,and an analytical solution of the parameter matrices is obtained by solving the Riccati equation.Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多
