Intelligent reflecting surfaces(IRSs)constitute passive devices,which are capable of adjusting the phase shifts of their reflected signals,and hence they are suitable for passive beamforming.In this paper,we conceive ...Intelligent reflecting surfaces(IRSs)constitute passive devices,which are capable of adjusting the phase shifts of their reflected signals,and hence they are suitable for passive beamforming.In this paper,we conceive their design with the active beamforming action of multiple-input multipleoutput(MIMO)systems used at the access points(APs)for improving the beamforming gain,where both the APs and users are equipped with multiple antennas.Firstly,we decouple the optimization problem and design the active beamforming for a given IRS configuration.Then we transform the optimization problem of the IRS-based passive beamforming design into a tractable non-convex quadratically constrained quadratic program(QCQP).For solving the transformed problem,we give an approximate solution based on the technique of widely used semidefinite relaxation(SDR).We also propose a low-complexity iterative solution.We further prove that it can converge to a locally optimal value.Finally,considering the practical scenario of discrete phase shifts at the IRS,we give the quantization design for IRS elements on basis of the two solutions.Our simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed solutions over the relevant benchmarks.展开更多
In transportation cyber-physical-systems (T-CPS), vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications play an important role in the coordination between individual vehicles as well as between vehicles and the roadside infrast...In transportation cyber-physical-systems (T-CPS), vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications play an important role in the coordination between individual vehicles as well as between vehicles and the roadside infrastructures, and engine cylinder pressure is significant for engine diagnosis on-line and torque control within the information exchange process under V2V communications. However, the parametric uncertainties caused from measurement noise in T-CPS lead to the dynamic performance deterioration of the engine cylinder pressure estimation. Considering the high accuracy requirement under V2V communications, a high gain observer based on the engine dynamic model is designed to improve the accuracy of pressure estimation. Then, the analyses about convergence, converge speed and stability of the corresponding error model are conducted using the Laplace and Lyapunov method. Finally, results from combination of Simulink with GT- Power based numerical experiments and comparisons demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach with respect to robustness and accuracy.展开更多

Soft Computing (SC) technologies are used for building intelligent cost models. The SC models are systemically evaluated based on their training and prediction of the historical cost data of airborne avionics systems. Results indicating the strengths and weakness of each model are presented. In general, the intelligent cost models have higher prediction precision, better data adaptability, and stronger self-learning capability than the regression CERs.展开更多

Artificial intelligence(AI)plays a critical role in signal recognition of distributed sensor systems(DSS),boosting its applications in multiple monitoring fields.Due to the domain differences between massive sensors i...Artificial intelligence(AI)plays a critical role in signal recognition of distributed sensor systems(DSS),boosting its applications in multiple monitoring fields.Due to the domain differences between massive sensors in signal acquisition conditions,such as manufacturing process,deployment,and environments,current AI schemes for signal recognition of DSS frequently encounter poor generalization performance.In this paper,an adaptive decentralized artificial intelligence(ADAI)method for signal recognition of DSS is proposed,to improve the entire generalization performance.By fine-tuning pre-trained model with the unlabeled data in each domain,the ADAI scheme can train a series of adaptive AI models for all target domains,significantly reducing the false alarm rate(FAR)and missing alarm rate(MAR)induced by domain differences.The field tests about intrusion signal recognition with distributed optical fiber sensors system demonstrate the efficacy of the ADAI scheme,showcasing a FAR of merely 4.3%and 0%,along with a MAR of only 1.4%and 2.7%within two specific target domains.The ADAI scheme is expected to offer a practical paradigm for signal recognition of DSS in multiple application fields.展开更多

Aiming at the shortages of conceptual design, introducing the theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) into the mechanical product design for producing innovative ideas, and using the advanced computer-aided technique, the intelligent decision support system (IDSS) based on TRIZ (TRIZ-IDSS) has been constructed. The construction method, system structure, conceptual production, decisionmaking and evaluation of the problem solving subsystem are discussed. The innovative conceptual design of pumping units indicates that the system can help the engineers open up a new space of thinking, overcome the thinking inertia, and put forward innovative design concepts. Through adjusting the on-off ratio of electric heating elements, the temperature in furnace is controlled accurately. This paper describes structure and qualities of the large-scale standing quench furnace briefly, introduces constitution of control system, and expounds principle and implementation of intelligent control algorithm. The applied results prove that the intelligent control system can completely satisfy the technological requirements. Namely, it can realize fast increasing temperature with a little overshoot, exact holding temperature, and well-distributed temperature in quench furnace. It has raised the output and quality of aluminum material, and brought the outstanding economic and social benefits.展开更多

Using intelligent PID control algorithm, several special methods were put forward to overcome the connatural shortcomings of pneumatic system and make the rotary actuator track the expected value timely and accurately. AV technologies can decrease the transporta...This study investigates the challenges and opportunities pertaining to transportation policies that may arise as a result of emerging autonomous vehicle (AV) technologies. AV technologies can decrease the transportation cost and increase accessibility to low-income households and persons with mobility issues. This emerging technology also has far-reaching applications and implications beyond all current expectations. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the relevant literature and explores a broad spectrum of issues from safety to machine ethics. An indispensable part of a prospective AV development is communication over cars and infrastructure (connected vehicles). A major knowledge gap exists in AV technology with respect to routing behaviors. Connected- vehicle technology provides a great opportunity to imple- ment an efficient and intelligent routing system. To this end, we propose a conceptual navigation model based on a fleet of AVs that are centrally dispatched over a network seeking system optimization literature on two fronts: (i) This study contributes to the it attempts to shed light on future opportunities as well as possible hurdles associated with AV technology; and (ii) it conceptualizes a navigation model for the AV which leads to highly efficient traffic circulations.展开更多
