The National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone has been assigned the unique mission of demonstrating and leading national innovation and playing a key supportive role in enhancing green innovation.Based on the...The National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone has been assigned the unique mission of demonstrating and leading national innovation and playing a key supportive role in enhancing green innovation.Based on the sample data of A-share listed companies in China from 2007 to 2021,we apply a multi-period difference-in-differences model to analyze whether the implementation of the National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone policies plays a leverage effect or a crowd out effect on the green innovation efficiency of enterprises and systematically test the regulatory mechanism of government grants and media attention in the process of this influence.The empirical results show that the imple-mentation of the National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone policies has a positive impact on the green innovation efficiency of enterprises and that the green innovation induced by this reform is not the leverage effect of additional R&D investment on the basis of the existing innovation activities of enterprises but rather the result of the reallocation of resources to crowd out existing non-green innovation.It is further found that government grants and media attention positively moderate the positive driving effect of National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone policies on the green innovation efficiency of enterprises.展开更多

To insure long term success and viability in a worldwide competitive industry such as pork, there is need for a National Swine Genetic Improvement Program. This program needs to draw on expertise and technology from across the world for its development, but it should be based on the structure of the pig industry in China and be led by Chinese scientists, administrators and producers. National Genetic Improvement requires more than just technology. A successful program of national genetic improvement will require cooperation from the industry and the government. The support for the university system is essential for the success of the pig industry. The university system has a vital role on education (of students, faculty, producers and consumers) as well as research and technology transfer. The government could also have a role in supporting the central test stations and AI stations across the country. An accurate and comprehensive pedigree maintenance system is essential to genetic improvement. However, strong selection mainly on growth and number of born alive decreased fitness and reduced environmental changes that animals can tolerate especially under suboptimal environments. Additional challenges are genetic differences between purebreds (selected animals) and crossbreds (commercial animals), and possibly different environments for these groups of animals. A successful genetic selection at this time requires comprehensive data for all levels of the pyramid, multitrait models for a variety of traits including categorical and survival, and software that can implement complicated models while supporting large data sets. Many projects in pig genetic evaluation are carried out at the University of Georgia. Those studies are supported by software family called BGF90.展开更多

Based on land-use database updated with the survey of 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008, this paper analyzed the land-use changes in the typical transect area along National Highway 106 with the aid of GIS technology and quan...Based on land-use database updated with the survey of 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008, this paper analyzed the land-use changes in the typical transect area along National Highway 106 with the aid of GIS technology and quantitative models. The results showed that arable land had been continuously decreased from 1996 to 2008, with a loss of 65.85× 10^3 hm2 and an average decrement of 5.49×10^3 hm^2 per year, and the loss in northern areas was larger; garden land and woodland were gradually centralized to the predominance area with an increment of 25.73×10^3 hm2 and 22.37×10^3 hm2, respectively; residential and industrial land increased year after year, and the transportation land showed the equalized developing spatial pattern; the increment of construction land and encroachment on arable land in the area were deeply influenced by the national macroscopic land-use policies, the rapid advance of urbanization and the development level of the regional economy. Through this case study, it is suggested that differential land- use policies should be adopted to create good environmental conditions to guarantee food security and to promote the economic development.展开更多
