Of special interest, we share an enriched visualization of research co-authoring patterns. Design/methodology/approach: We compile publications by 45 researchers in each of 1) the iUTAH project, which we consider here to be analogous to a "research center," 2) CG1-a comparison group of participants in two other Utah environmental research centers, and 3) CG2--a comparison group of Utah university environmental researchers not associated with a research center. We draw bibliometric data from Web of Science and from Google Scholar. We gather publications for a period before iUTAH had been established (2010-2012) and a period after (2014-2016). We compare these research outputs in terms of publications and citations thereto. We also measure interdisciplinarity using Integration scoring and generate science overlay maps to locate the research publications across disciplines. Findings: We find that participation in the iUTAH project appears to increase research outputs (publications in the After period) and increase research citation rates relative to the comparison group researchers (although CG 1 research remains most cited, as it was in the Before period). Most notably, participation in iUTAH markedly increases co-authoring among researchers--in general; and for junior, as well as senior, faculty; for men and women: across organizations; and across disciplines. Research limitations: The quasi-experimental design necessarily generates suggestive, not definitively causal, findings because of the imperfect controls. Practical implications: This study demonstrates a viable approach for research assessment of a center or program for which random assignment of control groups is not possible. It illustrates use of bibliometric indicators to inform R&D program management. Originality/value: New visualizations of researcher collaboration provide compelling comparisons of the extent and nature of social networking among target cohorts.展开更多

Being a new model of virtual collaboration, mass collaboration has distinct characteristics such as self-organized voluntary participation and many-to-many communications mechanism. Behind the sparking achievements, mass collaboration systems are suffering from high coordination cost, reflecting intense conflict among the participants. This study explains how conflict interacts with its antecedents(participation and task complexity) and decedent(group performance) related to the mass collaboration process.Design/methodology/approach: Theoretical model is built upon literatures. Twenty-six measurable items, including social network indices used to reflect conflicts(e.g., density and degree), are extracted from Wikipedia database. The structural equation modeling is used to validate the proposed model.Findings: Participation increases task complexity, conflict and performance; task complexity and conflict increase group performance, but task complexity decreases conflict.Research limitations: This study is limited to one mass collaboration platform, other contexts can cause variance in the result. More characteristics of conflict network(e.g., self-loop)should be taken into consideration in future studies.Practical implications: Conflict management is critical to mass collaboration, and functions that increase the awareness of conflict may motivate users to participant, resulting better group performance.Originality/value: Few studies have investigated the consequences of conflict in mass collaboration context. Meanwhile, limited number of social network studies build network based on negative link. Moreover, most of extant studies on Wiki are descriptive researches without theoretical model. This study builds a theoretical model and incorporates social network approach to explore the influence of conflict.展开更多

However, existing portable devices for target tracking are resource intensive and high-cost. Camera tracking is an effective location tracking way for those emerging applications which can reuse the existing ubiquitous video monitoring system. This paper proposes a dynamic community-based camera collaboration(D3C) framework for target location and tracking. The contributions of D3C mainly include that(1) nonlinear perspective projection model is selected as the camera sensing model and sequential Monte Carlo is employed to predict the target location;(2) a dynamic collaboration scheme is proposed, it is based on the local community-detection theory deriving from social network analysis. The performance of proposed approach is validated by both synthetic datasets and real-world application. The experiment results show that D3C meets the versatility, real-time and fault tolerance requirements of target tracking applications.展开更多

Information visualization and knowledge domain visualization techniques were adopted to determine how the study of scientific collaboration has evolved. A total of 1,455 articles on scientific cooperation published between 1993 and 2007 were retrieved from the SCI, SSCI and A&HCI databases with a topic search of scientific collaboration or scientific cooperation for the analysis. By using CiteSpace, the knowledge bases, research foci, and research fronts in the field of scientific collaboration were studied. The results indicated that research fronts and research foci are highly consistent in terms of the concept, origin, measurement, and theory of scientific collaboration. It also revealed that research fronts included scientific collaboration networks, international scientific collaboration, social network analysis and techniques, and applications of bibliometrical indicators, webmetrics, and health care related areas.展开更多

These models can reasonably reproduce the empirical degree distributions for a number of we11-studied real-world collaboration networks. On the basis of the previous studies, in this work we propose a collaboration network model in which the network growth is simultaneously controlled by three factors, including partial preferential attachment, partial random attachment and network growth speed. By using a rate equation method, we obtain an analytical formula for the act degree distribution. We discuss the dependence of the act degree distribution on these different dynamics factors. By fitting to the empirical data of two typical collaboration networks, we can extract the respective contributions of these dynamics factors to the evolution of each networks.展开更多

To solve the contravention between the theory of collaboration decision design and development requirement in distributed C2 system,three-stage design approach is proposed to research coherence and optimization by which decision-maker carries out decision regulations. First, getting information and decision process are described; decision indexes and regulation models of collaboration are established. And then,a test circumstance is designed and established for measuring various decision-maker’s capabilities of carrying out decision regulation by simulation and getting their load capability parameters. Finally, the obtained parameters from the experiment are disposed and substituted into the original models for proving the coherence of decision regulations. As a result,it is feasible for three-stage approach to design collaboration decision, and decision regulations can satisfy various decision-maker requirements.展开更多

文摘Multi-mode power internet of things(PIoT)combines various communication media to provide spatio-temporal coverage for low-carbon operation in smart park.Edge-end collaboration is feasible to achieve the full utilization of heterogeneous resources and anti-eavesdropping.However,edge-end collaboration-based multi-mode PIoT faces challenges of mutual contradiction in communication and security quality of service(QoS)guarantee, inadaptability of resource management, and multi-mode access conflict. We propose an Adaptive learning based delAysensitive and seCure Edge-End Collaboration algorithm(ACE_(2))to optimize multi-mode channel selection and split device power into artificial noise(AN)transmission and data transmission for secure data delivery.ACE_(2) can achieve multi-attribute QoS guarantee, adaptive resource management and security enhancement, and access conflict elimination with the combined power of deep actor-critic(DAC),“win or learn fast(WoLF)”mechanism, and edge-end collaboration.Simulations demonstrate its superior performance in queuing delay, energy consumption, secrecy capacity, and adaptability to differentiated low-carbon services.

文摘Purpose: Web2.0 has facilitated the emergence of mass collaboration. This study builds a theoretical model and incorporates social network approach to explore the influence of conflict.

文摘To accommodate wind power as safely as possible and deal with the uncertainties of the output power of winddriven generators,a min-max-min two-stage robust optimization model is presented, considering the unit commitment,source-network load collaboration, and control of the load demand response. After the constraint functions are linearized, the original problem is decomposed into the main problem and subproblem as a matrix using the strong dual method. The minimum-maximum of the original problem was continuously maximized using the iterative method, and the optimal solution was finally obtained. The constraint conditions expressed by the matrix may reduce the calculation time, and the upper and lower boundaries of the original problem may rapidly converge. The results of the example show that the injected nodes of the wind farms in the power grid should be selected appropriately;otherwise,it is easy to cause excessive accommodation of wind power at some nodes, leading to a surge in reserve costs and the load demand response is continuously optimized to reduce the inverse peak regulation characteristics of wind power. Thus, the most economical optimization scheme for the worst scenario of the output power of the generators is obtained, which proves the economy and reliability of the two-stage robust optimization method.

文摘Mobile target tracking is a necessary function of some emerging application domains, such as virtual reality, smart home and intelligent healthcare. The experiment results show that D3C meets the versatility, real-time and fault tolerance requirements of target tracking applications.

文摘With the construction of the power Internet of Things(IoT),communication between smart devices in urban distribution networks has been gradually moving towards high speed, high compatibility, and low latency, which provides reliable support for reconfiguration optimization in urban distribution networks. Thus, this study proposed a deep reinforcement learning based multi-level dynamic reconfiguration method for urban distribution networks in a cloud-edge collaboration architecture to obtain a real-time optimal multi-level dynamic reconfiguration solution.First, the multi-level dynamic reconfiguration method was discussed, which included feeder-,transformer-,and substation-levels.Subsequently,the multi-agent system was combined with the cloud-edge collaboration architecture to build a deep reinforcement learning model for multi-level dynamic reconfiguration in an urban distribution network. The cloud-edge collaboration architecture can effectively support the multi-agent system to conduct“centralized training and decentralized execution”operation modes and improve the learning efficiency of the model.Thereafter, for a multi-agent system, this study adopted a combination of offline and online learning to endow the model with the ability to realize automatic optimization and updation of the strategy. In the offline learning phase,a Q-learning-based multi-agent conservative Q-learning(MACQL)algorithm was proposed to stabilize the learning results and reduce the risk of the next online learning phase. In the online learning phase,a multi-agent deep deterministic policy gradient(MADDPG)algorithm based on policy gradients was proposed to explore the action space and update the experience pool. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method was verified through a simulation analysis of a real-world 445-node system.

文摘By pushing computation, cache, and network control to the edge, mobile edge computing(MEC)is expected to play a leading role in fifth generation(5G)and future sixth generation(6G).Nevertheless,facing ubiquitous fast-growing computational demands,it is impossible for a single MEC paradigm to effectively support high-quality intelligent services at end user equipments(UEs).To address this issue,we propose an air-ground collaborative MEC(AGCMEC)architecture in this article. The proposed AGCMEC integrates all potentially available MEC servers within air and ground in the envisioned 6G,by a variety of collaborative ways to provide computation services at their best for UEs.Firstly,we introduce the AGC-MEC architecture and elaborate three typical use cases. Then,we discuss four main challenges in the AGC-MEC as well as their potential solutions.Next,we conduct a case study of collaborative service placement for AGC-MEC to validate the effectiveness of the proposed collaborative service placement strategy. Finally,we highlight several potential research directions of the AGC-MEC.

文摘Collaborative edge computing is a promising direction to handle the computation intensive tasks in B5G wireless networks. However, edge computing servers(ECSs)from different operators may not trust each other, and thus the incentives for collaboration cannot be guaranteed. In this paper,we propose a consortium blockchain enabled collaborative edge computing framework, where users can offload computing tasks to ECSs from different operators. To minimize the total delay of users,we formulate a joint task offloading and resource optimization problem, under the constraint of the computing capability of each ECS.We apply the Tammer decomposition method and heuristic optimization algorithms to obtain the optimal solution. Finally,we propose a reputation based node selection approach to facilitate the consensus process, and also consider a completion time based primary node selection to avoid monopolization of certain edge node and enhance the security of the blockchain.Simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, and the total delay can be reduced by up to 40%compared with the non-cooperative case.

文摘To describe the empirical data of collaboration networks, several evolving mechanisms have been proposed, which usually introduce different dynamics factors controlling the network growth. By fitting to the empirical data of two typical collaboration networks, we can extract the respective contributions of these dynamics factors to the evolution of each networks.

文摘To meet the actual requirements of an automotive industry chain collaboration platform (AICCP), this paper offers several simple but effective security policies based upon the traditional security mechanism of data transfer, including user ID verification with SOAP (simple object access protocol), header, SOAP message encryption with SOAP extension and XML (extensible markup language) file encryption and decryption. Application of these policies to the AICCP for more than one year proves the effectiveness of the data exchange practice between the AICCP and enterprise Intranet.

文摘The design of collaboration decision of C2 system is one of the puzzles which dicision science studies in complex system. As a result,it is feasible for three-stage approach to design collaboration decision, and decision regulations can satisfy various decision-maker requirements.

文摘With the increasingly fierce market competition, manufacturing enterprises have to continuously improve their competitiveness through their collaboration and labor division with each other,i.e.forming manufacturing enterprise collaborative network(MECN)through their collaboration and labor division is an effective guarantee for obtaining competitive advantages. To explore the topology and evolutionary process of MECN,in this paper we investigate an empirical MECN from the viewpoint of complex network theory, and construct an evolutionary model to reproduce the topological properties found in the empirical network.Firstly,large-size empirical data related to the automotive industry are collected to construct an MECN.Topological analysis indicates that the MECN is not a scale-free network, but a small-world network with disassortativity.Small-world property indicates that the enterprises can respond quickly to the market, but disassortativity shows the risk spreading is fast and the coordinated operation is difficult. Then,an evolutionary model based on fitness preferential attachment and entropy-TOPSIS is proposed to capture the features of MECN.Besides, the evolutionary model is compared with a degree-based model in which only node degree is taken into consideration. The simulation results show the proposed evolutionary model can reproduce a number of critical topological properties of empirical MECN,while the degree-based model does not, which validates the effectiveness of the proposed evolutionary model.
文摘Purpose:We aim to extend our investigations related to the Relative Intensity of Collaboration(RIC)indicator,by constructing a confidence interval for the obtained values.Design/methodology/approach:We use Mantel-Haenszel statistics as applied recently by Smolinsky,Klingenberg, and Marx.Findings:We obtain confidence intervals for the RIC indicatorResearch limitations:It is not obvious that data obtained from the Web of Science(or any other database)can be considered a random sample.Practical implications:We explain how to calculate confidence intervals.Bibliometric indicators are more often than not presented as precise values instead of an approximation depending on the database and the time of measurement. Our approach presents a suggestion to solve this problem.Originality/value:Our approach combines the statistics of binary categorical data and bibliometric studies of collaboration.
