Seventy-two Sprague Dawley female rats at gestation day 18 were assigned to 9 groups randomly, with 8 rats each. Control rats were offered basal diets until the end of the weaning period. Rats in the other 8 groups were administered diets supplemented with 1% Medulla tetmpanacis (MT), Astragalus membranacens (AM), Vaccaria segetalis (VS), Leonurus heterophyllus sweet (LHS), Radix rehmarmiae preparata (RRP), Squama man/t/s (SM), Schisandra chinensis (SC), Ligustrum lucidum (LL), respectively. After parturition, the litter size was culled to 8 pups per dam. Pup weight and milk yield were significantly higher in the VS, LHS, AM and SM groups than these in the control group during middle and late lactation (P〈0.05 or P〈0.01). The weight and feed intake were not different in the dams fed either diet.展开更多

This method is accurate, rapid, convenience, and can be applied to the determination of arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, mercury and nickel in Chinese Herb with good results.展开更多

Similar to group of antibiotic and herbal medicine, fermented herbal medicine was additived to basic diet in four trials with eight replications per trial, determining effect on the growth performance, biochemical and immunological indicators. Compared with the control group, the group of fermented herbal compound had higher Average Daily Gain(ADG), higher content of immune globulin M(IgM) and immune globulin A(Ig A)(p〈0.05). There was no significant effect on the indicators of ADG, Average Daily Feed Intake(ADFI) and diarrhea rate(p〉0.05) between groups of antibiotic and fermented herbal were observed; however, the concentrations of Total Protein(TP), Growth Hormone(GH), IgG, IgM and IgA significantly increased(p〈0.05) compared with the control group.展开更多

The inhibitions of herbal preservatives were identified. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of cinnamon and clove were all 0.79 mg.mL^-1, while the rosemary was 1.58 mg.mL^-1. And the composite herbal preservatives were got through orthogonal experiment. The optimum proportion was as following on agar medium: 1.16 mg.mL^-1 cinnamon+2.38 mg. mL^-1 rosemary+3.17 mg. mLl clove (herb combination number 5), while on chilled pork, the strong inhibition of L. monocytogenes was showed, which demonstrated that the surface application of herb combination resulted in an effective delay of L. monocytogenes growth.展开更多
