Optimizing the generation of second harmonic optical vortices from nonlinear photonic crystals

The generation of optical vortices from nonlinear photonic crystals(NPCs)with spatially modulated second-order nonlinearity offers a promising approach to extend the working wavelength and topological charge of vortex beams for various applications.In this work,the second harmonic(SH)optical vortex beams generated from nonlinear fork gratings under Gaussian beam illumination are numerically investigated.The far-field intensity and phase distributions,as well as the orbital angular momentum(OAM)spectra of the SH beams,are analyzed for different structural topological charges and diffraction orders.Results reveal that higher-order diffraction and larger structural topological charges lead to angular interference patterns and non-uniform intensity distributions,deviating from the standard vortex profile.To optimize the SH vortex quality,the effects of the fundamental wave beam waist,crystal thickness,and grating duty cycle are explored.It is shown that increasing the beam waist can effectively suppress diffraction order interference and improve the beam’s quality.This study provides theoretical guidance for enhancing the performance of nonlinear optical devices based on NPCs. 展开更多

To facilitate rapid analysis of the oscillation stability mechanism in modular multilevel converter-based high voltage direct current(MMC-HVDC)systems and streamline the simulation process for determining MMC impedance characteristics,a simplified mathematical simulation model for MMC closed-loop impedance is developed using the harmonic state space method.This model considers various control strategies and includes both AC-side and DC-side impedance models.By applying a Nyquist criterion-based impedance analysis method,the stability mechanisms on the AC and DC sides of the MMC are examined.In addition,a data-driven oscillation stability analysis method is also proposed,leveraging a global sensitivity algorithm based on fast model results to identify key parameters influencing MMC oscillation stability.Based on sensitivity analysis results,a parameter adjustment strategy for oscillation suppression is proposed.The simulation results from the MATLAB/Simulinkbased MMC model validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

Two alkali-metal sulfamates nonlinear optical(NLO)crystals,Li(NH_(2)SO_(3))and Na(NH_(2)SO_(3)),have been obtained through the facile evaporation method.Li(NH_(2)SO_(3))crystallizes in the polar space group Pca2_(1)(No.29).The structure of Li(NH_(2)SO_(3))can be described as a 3D network formed by[LiO_(4)]^(7-)polyhedral connecting with NH_(2)SO_(3)^(-)tetrahedra through corner-sharing.Na(NH_(2)SO_(3))crystallizes in the polar space group P2_(1)2_(1)2_(1)(No.19).The structure of Na(NH_(2)SO_(3))can be described as a 3D network formed by distorted[NaO_(6)]^(11-)octahedral connecting with NH_(2)SO_(3)^(-)tetrahedra through corner-sharing.The UV-Vis-near-infrared spectra demonstrate that Li(NH_(2)SO_(3))and Na(NH_(2)SO_(3))possessed large optical band gaps of 5.25 and 4.81 eV,respectively.Powder second-harmonic generation(SHG)measurements demonstrate that the SHG intensity of Li(NH_(2)SO_(3))and Na(NH_(2)SO_(3))were 0.32 times and 0.31 times that of KH_(2)PO_(4),respectively.First-principles calculations confirm the nonlinear optical performance mainly derived from the synergistic effect of amino sulfonate anions and alkali metal oxide anionic polyhedra.CCDC:2339109,Li(NH_(2)SO_(3));2339110,Na(NH_(2)SO_(3)). 展开更多

The goal of this paper is to find an excellent adaptive window function for extracting the weak vibration signal and high frequency vibration signal under strong noise.The relationship between windowing transform andfiltering is analyzed first in the paper.The advantage of adjustable time-frequency window of wavelet transform is introduced.Secondly the relationship between harmonic wavelet and multiple analytic band-pass filter is analyzed.The coherence of the multiple analytic band-pass filter and harmonic wavelet base function is discussed,and the characteristic that multiple analytic band-pass filter included in the harmonic wavelet transform is founded.Thirdly,by extending the harmonic wavelet transform,the concept of the adaptive harmonic window and its theoretical equation without decomposition are put forward in this paper.Then comparing with the Hanning window,the good performance of restraining side-lobe leakage possessed by adaptive harmonic window is shown,and the adaptive characteristics of window width changing and analytical center moving of the adaptive harmonic window are presented.Finally,the proposed adaptive harmonic window is applied to weak signal extraction and high frequency orbit extraction of high speed rotor under strong noise,and the satisfactory results are achieved.The application results show that the adaptive harmonic window function can be successfully applied to the actual engineering signal processing. 展开更多

In order to obtain a new-type short cylindrical cup-shaped flexspline that can be applied to space mechanisms,the APDL language of ANSYS software was employed to develop a parameterized equivalent contact model between a flexspline and a wave generator. The validity of the parameterized equivalent contact model was verified by comparing the results of the analytic value of the contact model and the value calculated by the theoretical formula. The curvilinear trend of stress was obtained by changing the structural parameter of the flexspline. Based on the curvilinear trend of stress,multi-objective optimizations of key structural parameters were achieved. Flexspline,wave generator,and circular spline of a new 32-type short cylindrical cup-shaped harmonic reducer were designed and manufactured. A performance test bench to carry out tests on the harmonic reducer was designed. Contrast experiments were implemented to determine the efficiency of the new 32-type short cylindrical cup-shaped harmonic reducer and the conventional 32-type harmonic reducer under different conditions. The experimental results reveal that there is approximately equality in terms of efficiency between the new 32-type short cylindrical cup-shaped harmonic reducer and the conventional 32-type harmonic reducer. The volume of the flexspline of the new 32-type short cylindrical cup-shaped harmonic reducer is reduced by approximately 30% through multi-objective optimization. When the new 32-type short cylindrical cup-shaped harmonic reducer is used on the wheel of a rover prototype,the mass of the wheel hub is decreased by 0.42 kg. Test analysis of wheel motion verifies that the new 32-type short cylindrical cup-shaped harmonic reducer can meet the requirements regarding bearing capacity and efficiency. 展开更多

The microscopic characteristics of skeletal particles in rock and soil media have important effects on macroscopic mechanical properties.A mathematical procedure called spherical harmonic function analysis was here developed to characterize micromorphology of particles and determine the meso effects in a discrete manner.This method has strong mathematical properties with respect to orthogonality and rotating invariance.It was used here to characterize and reconstruct particle micromorphology in three-dimensional space.The applicability and accuracy of the method were assessed through comparison of basic geometric properties such as volume and surface area.The results show that the micromorphological characteristics of reproduced particles become more and more readily distinguishable as the reproduced order number of spherical harmonic function increases,and the error can be brought below 5%when the order number reaches 10.This level of precision is sharp enough to distinguish the characteristics of real particles.Reconstructed particles of the same size but different reconstructed orders were used to form cylindrical samples,and the stress-strain curves of these samples filled with different-order particles which have their mutual morphological features were compared using PFC3D.Results show that the higher the spherical harmonic order of reconstructed particles,the lower the initial compression modulus and the larger the strain at peak intensity.However,peak strength shows only a random relationship to spherical harmonic order.Microstructure reconstruction was here shown to be an efficient means of numerically simulating of multi-scale rock and soil media and studying the mechanical properties of soil samples. 展开更多

This paper introduces an algorithm for beamforming systems by the aid of multidimensional harmonic retrieval(MHR).This algorithm resolves problems,removes limitations of sampling and provides a more robust beamformer.A new sample space is created that can be used for estimating weights of a new beamforming called spatial-harmonics retrieval beamformer(SHRB).Simulation results show that SHRB has a better performance,accuracy,and applicability and more powerful eigenvalues than conventional beamformers.A simple mathematical proof is provided.By changing the number of harmonics,as a degree of freedom that is missing in conventional beamformers,SHRB can achieve more optimal outputs without increasing the number of spatial or temporal samples.We will demonstrate that SHRB offers an improvement of 4 dB in signal to noise ratio(SNR) in bit error rate(BER) of 10~(-4) over conventional beamformers.In the case of direction of arrival(DOA) estimation,SHRB can estimate the DOA of the desired signal with an SNR of-25 dB,when conventional methods cannot have acceptable response. 展开更多

In the applications of joint control and robot movement,the joint torque estimation has been treated as an effective technique and widely used.Researches are made to analyze the kinematic and compliance model of the robot joint with harmonic drive to acquire high precision torque output.Through analyzing the structures of the harmonic drive and experiment apparatus,a scheme of the proposed joint torque estimation method based on both the dynamic characteristics and unscented Kalman filter(UKF)is designed and built.Based on research and scheme,torque estimation methods in view of only harmonic drive compliance model and compliance model with the Kalman filter are simulated as guidance and reference to promote the research on the torque estimation technique.Finally,a promoted torque estimation method depending on both harmonic drive compliance model and UKF is designed,and simulation results compared with the measurements of a commercial torque sensor,have verified the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

This paper presents a new trajectory linearization control scheme for a class of nonlinear systems subject to harmonic disturbance. It is supposed that the frequency of the disturbance is known, but the amplitude and the phase are unknown. A disturbance observer dynamics is constructed to estimate the harmonic disturbance, and then the estimation is used to implement a compensation control law to cancel the disturbance. By Lyapunov's direct method, a rigorous poof shows that the composite error of the closed-loop system can approach zero exponentially. Finally, the proposed method is illustrated by the application to control of an inverted pendulum. Compared with two existing methods, the proposed method demonstrates better performance in tracking error and response time. 展开更多

We have developed two 474 THz(633 nm)new iodine stabilized He-Ne lasers with compatible system of third and fifth harmonic locking.The frequency stability is 1.0×10-11/ 1s and 3.5×10-12 / 10s with third harmonic locking,and corresponding values are 1.3×10-11/1s and 4.0×10-12/ 10s with fifth harmonic locking.We found that the frequency difference between the same component with third and fifth harmonic locking are from 5 kHz to SO kHz.Our experiment and analysis indicate that the center of fifth harmonic signals is closer to the Lorentzian center in iodine absorption component than one of the third harmonic signals,and the reproducibility with fifth harmonic locking is also better than one with third harmonic locking. 展开更多

Due to development of distribution systems and increase in electricity demand,the use of capacitor banks increases.From the other point of view,nonlinear loads generate and inject considerable harmonic currents into power system.Under this condition if capacitor banks are not properly selected and placed in the power system,they could amplify and propagate these harmonics and deteriorate power quality to unacceptable levels.With attention of disadvantages of passive filters,such as occurring resonance,nowadays the usage of this type of harmonic compensator is restricted.On the other side,one of parallel multi-function compensating devices which are recently used in distribution system to mitigate voltage sag and harmonic distortion,performs power factor correction,and improves the overall power quality as active power conditioner(APC).Therefore,the utilization of APC in harmonic distorted system can affect and change the optimal location and size of shunt capacitor bank under harmonic distortion condition.This paper presents an optimization algorithm for improvement of power quality using simultaneous optimal placement and sizing of APC and shunt capacitor banks in radial distribution networks in the presence of voltage and current harmonics.The algorithm is based on particle swarm optimization(PSO).The objective function includes the cost of power losses,energy losses and those of the capacitor banks and APCs. 展开更多

Multi-level inverters(MLIs)have become popular in different applications such as industrial power control systems and distributed generations.There are different forms of MLIs.The cascaded MLIs(CMLIs)have some special advantages among them such as more different output voltage levels using the same number of components and higher power quality.In this paper,a 27-level inverter switching algorithm considering total harmonic distortion(THD)minimization is investigated.Switching angles of the inverter switches are achieved by minimizing a THD-based objective function.In order to minimize the THD-based objective function,the hyper-spherical search(HSS)algorithm,as a novel optimization algorithm,is improved and the results of improved HSS(IHSS)are compared with HSS algorithm and other five evolutionary algorithms to show the advantages of IHSS algorithm. 展开更多

On the same ti me, a ne... Fluid-solid interaction problems have been studied q uite extensively in the past years. Rotor-bearing system is a typical example. Fluid field is changed under the exciting of rotor vibration. On the same ti me, a net force caused by fluid pressure exerts on rotor, which will change roto r vibration. So, the fluid-solid coupled analysis method must be used. Traditionally, numerical difference method was used to solve fluid problems. The coupled fluid-solid equation could not be set up based on the method. It is no t until finite element method was used in fluid dynamics area then can the coupl ed dynamics be researched. Recently many experimental, analytical and numerical studies have been used in the area . But in these investigations, it is a ssumed that the solid vibration could not be influenced by fluid. In the other w ords, the force exerted on solid from fluid was neglected in the papers. So, the models built were some kinds of semi-coupled model only. In this paper, the Galerkin finite-element method, two-dimension vibration equ ation of rigid body and Navier-Stokes equations are used to build a full-coupl ed fluid-solid model in rotor-bearing system. Some assumptions are taken: 1) In fluid equation, the nonlinear terms are relatively small and neglected. 2) The gravity takes no effect on this system. 3) The bearing and the rotor are long. Flow and leakage along the axis is neglec ted. 4) The fluid is a kind of Newtonian incondensable viscous fluid. 5) The rotor is considered to be a rigid body. Using the model established, we calculated all the examples given by paper , results show the error are less than 7%. So the full-coupled model is built c orrectly. Examples are given in the end of the paper. After analyzing the examples, we get some conclusions: 1) In rotor-bearing system, while being taken under two conditions that whether coupled method is taken or not, difference of pressure and vibration amplitude could reach 76% and 120%. Therefore coupled method must be taken to investigate fluid-solid system. 1) Amplitude of fluid pressure can be more or less influenced by rotor unbalance , gap, eccentricity and other factors. 2) By using coupling method, results show that the amplitudes of vibration and p ressure are greater than ignoring the method. Selective harmonic elimination(SHE) in multilevel inverters is an intricate optimization problem that involves a set of nonlinear transcendental equations which have multiple local minima. A new advanced objective function with proper weighting is proposed and also its efficiency is compared with the objective function which is more similar to the proposed one. To enhance the ability of the SHE in eliminating high number of selected harmonics, at each level of the output voltage, one slot is created. The SHE problem is solved by imperialist competitive algorithm(ICA). The conventional SHE methods cannot eliminate the selected harmonics and satisfy the fundamental component in some ranges of modulation indexes. So, to surmount the SHE defect, a DC-DC converter is applied. Theoretical results are substantiated by simulations and experimental results for a 9-level multilevel inverter. The obtained results illustrate that the proposed method successfully minimizes a large number of identified harmonics which consequences very low total harmonic distortion of output voltage. 展开更多
