This paper proposes a novel immersed boundary-lattice Boltzmann method (IB-LBM) based on the feedback law. Firstly, the method is tested by simulating the low Reynolds number flow at Ma =0. 5,a=0. 0, Re=5 000. Then the simulation of flow around the airfoil is carried out at Ma:0. 5, 0. 85, 1.2; a=-0.05, 1.0, 0.0, respectively. And a better result is obtained by using a local refined grid. It reduces the error produced by the grid at Ma=0. 85. Though the inviscid boundary condition is used to avoid the problem of flow transition to turbulence at high Reynolds numbers, the pressure distribution obtained by the simulation agrees well with that of the experimental results. Thus, it proves the reliability of the method and shows its potential for the compressible flow simulation. The suecessful application to the flow around airfoil lays a foundation of the numerical simulation of turbulence.展开更多

In this paper, the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) was used to study the electrophysical property of rock saturated with fluid because of its advantages over conventional numerical approaches in handling complex pore geometry and boundary conditions. The digital core model was constructed through the accumulation of matrix grains based on their radius distribution obtained by the measurements of core samples. The flow of electrical current through the core model saturated with oil and water was simulated on the mesoscopic scale to reveal the non-Archie relationship between resistivity index and water saturation (I-Sw). The results from LBM simulation and laboratory measurements demonstrated that the I-Sw relation in the range of low water saturation was generally not a straight line in the log-log coordinates as described by the Archie equation. We thus developed a new equation based on numerical simulation and physical experiments. This new equation was used to fit the data from laboratory core measurements and previously published data. Determination of fluid saturation and reservoir evaluation could be significantly improved by using the new equation.展开更多

By discussing the effect of the tangential momentum accommodation coefficient on the rough boundary condition, the lattice Boltzmann simulations of nitrogen and helium flows are performed in a two-dimensional microchannel with rough boundaries. The surface roughness effects in the microchannel on the velocity field, the mass flow rate and the friction coefficient are studied and analysed. Numerical results for the two gases in micro scale show different characteristics from macroscopic flows and demonstrate the feasibility of the lattice Boltzmann model in rarefied gas dynamics.展开更多

Two plasma actuators were placed in a row to obtain the influence rule of their separation distance on the velocity profile at three locations and maximum velocity in the flow field. Two plasma actuators were placed symmetrically inside a channel to examine the effect of channel height and voltage on the velocity profile and flow rate. It was found that the channel height controls the distribution of flow velocity, which affected the flow rate and its direction. Increasing plasma voltage had a negative effect on the flow rate due to the generation of a larger and stronger flow vortex.展开更多

Phys. 218, 353(2006)]is favored due to its good stability, high efficiency, and large density ratio. However, in terms of mass conservation, this model is not satisfactory during the simulation computations. In this paper, a mass correction is introduced into the ZSC model to make up the mass leakage, while a high-order difference is used to calculate the gradient of the order parameter to improve the accuracy. To verify the improved model, several three-dimensional multiphase flow simulations are carried out, including a bubble in a stationary flow, the merging of two bubbles, and the bubble rising under buoyancy. The numerical simulations show that the results from the present model are in good agreement with those from previous experiments and simulations. The present model not only retains the good properties of the original ZSC model, but also achieves the mass conservation and higher accuracy.展开更多

Somers previously, has been improved in this paper. The improved method has introduced a new equilibrium solution for the temperature distribution function on the assumption that flow is incompressible, and it can correct the effect of compressibility on the macroscopic temperature computed. Compared to the previous method, where the half- way bounce back boundary condition was used for non-slip velocity and temperature, a non-equilibrium extrapolation scheme has been adopted for both velocity and temperature boundary conditions in this paper. Its second-order accuracy coincides with the ensemble accuracy of lattice Boltzmann method. In order to validate the improved thermal scheme, the natural convection of air in a square cavity is simulated by using this method. The results obtained in the simulation agree very well with the data of other numerical methods and benchmark data. It is indicated that the improved TLBM is also successful for the simulations of non-isothermal flows. Moreover, this thermal scheme can be applied to simulate the natural convection in a non-uniform high magnetic field. The simulation has been completed in a square cavity filled with the aqueous solutions of KC1 (llwt%), which is considered as a diamagnetic fluid with electrically low-conducting, with Grashof number Gr=4.64~104 and Prandtl number Pr----7.0. And three cases, with different cavity locations in the magnetic field, have been studied. In the presence of a high magnetic field, the natural convection is quenched by the body forces exerted on the electrically low-conducting fluids, such as the magnetization force and the Lorentz force. From the results obtained, it can be seen that the quenching efficiencies decrease with the variation of location from left, symmetrical line, to the right. These phenomena originate from the different distributions of the magnetic field strengths in the zones of the symmetrical central line of the magnetic fields. The results are also compared with those without a magnetic field. Finally, we can conclude that the improved TLBM will enable effective simulation of the natural convection under a high magnetic field.展开更多

In this paper, a multi-speed 1D cell-model of Boltzmann equation is proposed, in which the cell-population equilibrium, a direct non- negative approximation to the continuous Maxwellian distribution, plays an important part. 文摘Conventional seismic wave forward simulation generally uses mathematical means to solve the macroscopic wave equation, and then obtains the corresponding seismic wavefield.Usually, when the subsurface structure is finely constructed and the continuity of media is poor, this strategy is difficult to meet the requirements of accurate wavefield calculation. This paper uses the multiple-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann method(MRT-LBM)to conduct the seismic acoustic wavefield simulation and verify its computational accuracy. To cope with the problem of severe reflections at the truncated boundaries,we analogize the viscous absorbing boundary and perfectly matched layer(PML)absorbing boundary based on the single-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann(SRT-LB)equation to the MRT-LB equation, and further, propose a joint absorbing boundary through comparative analysis. We give the specific forms of the modified MRT-LB equation loaded with the joint absorbing boundary in the two-dimensional(2D)and three-dimensional(3D)cases,respectively.Then,we verify the effects of this absorbing boundary scheme on a 2D homogeneous model,2D modified British Petroleum(BP)gas-cloud model, and 3D homogeneous model, respectively. The results reveal that by comparing with the viscous absorbing boundary and PML absorbing boundary, the joint absorbing boundary has the best absorption performance, although it is a little bit complicated. Therefore, this joint absorbing boundary better solves the problem of truncated boundary reflections of MRT-LBM in simulating seismic acoustic wavefields, which is pivotal to its wide application in the field of exploration seismology.

文摘This paper studies the roughness effect combining with effects of rarefaction and compressibility by a lattice Boltzmann model for rarefied gas flows at high Knudsen numbers. Numerical results for the two gases in micro scale show different characteristics from macroscopic flows and demonstrate the feasibility of the lattice Boltzmann model in rarefied gas dynamics.
文摘Active boundary layer flow control and boundary layer manipulation in the channel flow that was based on low temperature plasma were studied by means of a lattice Boltzmann method. Increasing plasma voltage had a negative effect on the flow rate due to the generation of a larger and stronger flow vortex.

文摘For comprehensive characteristics of flow in a gas bearing, lattice Boltzmann method(LBM)is applied for study of the two-dimensional flow between two eccentric cylinders with the inner one rotating at a high speed. The flow pattern and circumferential pressure distribution are discussed based on critical issues such as eccentricity ranging from 0.2 to 0.9,clearance ratio varying from 0.005 to 0.01 and rotating speed in the range of 3×104—1.8×105 r/min.The analysis and discussion on the circumferential pressure distribution affirmed the quasilinear relation between the extremum pressure and rotating speed.Furthermore,a high eccentricity and small clearance ratio contributes most to the fluctuation of the circumferential pressure distribution. The flow pattern inside the channel exhibits separation vortex under a large eccentricity. The conclusions drawn in this work give rise to prediction of the flow pattern in the gas bearing which is beneficial for evaluating the performance of as well as instructing the design and development.

文摘A new method for selecting dimensionless relaxation time in the lattice Boltzmann model was proposed based on similarity criterion and gas true physical parameters. At the same time, the dimensionless relaxation time was modified by considering the influence of the boundary Knudsen layer. On this basis, the second-order slip boundary condition of the wall was considered, and the key parameters in the corresponding combined bounce-back/specular-reflection boundary condition were deduced to build a new model of unconventional gas microscale flow simulation based on the lattice Boltzmann method suitable for high temperatures and high pressures. The simulation results of methane gas flow driven by body force in infinite micro-channels and flow driven by inlet-outlet pressure differential in long straight channels were compared with the numerical and analytical solutions in the literature to verify the accuracy of the model, and the dimensionless relaxation time modification was formally optimized. The results show that the new model can effectively characterize the slippage effect, compression effect, gas density and the effect of boundary Knudsen layer in the micro-scale flow of unconventional natural gas.The new model can achieve a more comprehensive characterization of the real gas flow conditions and can be used as a basic model for the simulation of unconventional gas flow on the micro-nano scale.

文摘The Z–S–C multiphase lattice Boltzmann model [Zheng, Shu, and Chew(ZSC), J. Comput. The present model not only retains the good properties of the original ZSC model, but also achieves the mass conservation and higher accuracy.

文摘The thermal lattice Boltzmann method (TLBM), which was proposed by J. G. M. Eggels and J. A. Finally, we can conclude that the improved TLBM will enable effective simulation of the natural convection under a high magnetic field.

文摘We developed a three-dimensional multi-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann method for incompressible and immiscible two-phase flow by coupling with a front-tracking technique. The flow field was simulated by using an Eulerian grid, an adaptive unstructured triangular Lagrangian grid was applied to track explicitly the motion of the two-fluid interface, and an indicator function was introduced to update accurately the fluid properties. The surface tension was computed directly on a triangular Lagrangian grid, and then the surface tension was distributed to the background Eulerian grid. Three benchmarks of two-phase flow, including the Laplace law for a stationary drop, the oscillation of a three-dimensional ellipsoidal drop, and the drop deformation in a shear flow, were simulated to validate the present model.

文摘The central problem of the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) is to construct a discrete equilibrium. In this paper, a multi-speed 1D cell-model of Boltzmann equation is proposed, in which the cell-population equilibrium, a direct non- negative approximation to the continuous Maxwellian distribution, plays an important part. By applying the explicit one-order Chapman-Enskog distribution, the model reduces the transportation and collision, two basic evolution steps in LBM, to the transportation of the non-equilibrium distribution. Furthermore, 1D dam-break problem is performed and the numerical results agree well with the analytic solutions.
