Digital images of expansive soil of the surface fissure with different moisture contents were analyzed with the binarization statistic method. In addition, the fissure fractal dimension was computed with a self-compiled program. Combined with in situ seepage and loading plate tests, the relationship among the surface fissure ratio, moisture content, seepage coefficient and deformation modulus was initially established. The surface fissure ratio and moisture content show a linear relation, "y=-0.019 1x+1.028 5" for rufous expansive soil and "y=-0.07 1x+2.610 5" for grey expansive soil. Soil initial seepage coefficient and surface fissure ratio show a power function relation, "y=1× 10^-9exp(15.472x)" for rufous expansive soil and "y=5× 10^-7exp(4.209 6x)" for grey expansive soil. Grey expansive soil deformation modulus and surface fissure ratio show a power fimction relation of "y=3.935 7exp(0.993 6x)". Based on the binarization and fractal dimension methods, the results show that the surface fissure statistics can depict the fissure distribution in the view of two dimensions. And the evolvement behaviors of permeability and the deformation modulus can indirectly describe the developing state of the fissure. The analysis reflects that the engineering behaviors of unsaturated expansive soil are objectively influenced by fissure.展开更多

文摘Swelling and shrinkage due to moisture-change is one of the characteristics of the expansive soil, which is similar to the behavior of most materials under thermal effect,If the deformation is restricted, stress in expansive soil is caused by the swell-shrinking.The stress is defined as "moisture-change stress" and is adopted to analyze swell-shrinkage deformation based on the elasticity mechanics theory. The state when the total stress becomes equal to the soil tensile strength is considered as the cracking criterion as moisture-change increases. Then, the initial cracking mechanism due to evaporation is revealed as follows:Different rates of moisture loss at different depths result in greater shrinkage deformation on the surface while there is smaller shrinkage deformation at the underlayer in expansive soil;cracks will grow when the nonuniform shrinkage deformation increases to a certain degree.A theoretical model is established, which may be used to calculate the stress caused by moisture-change.The depth of initial cracks growing is predicted by the proposed model in expansive soil,A series of laboratory tests are carried out by exposing expansive soil samples with different moisture-changes.The process of crack propagation is investigated by resistivity method. The test results show good consistency with the predicted results by the proposed theoretical model.

文摘The expansive clays are extremely sensitive to the slight moisture alteration, exhibiting sequentially volume change.Uneven settlement of the buildings and infrastructures underlying expansive soil is a critical challenge that geotechnical engineers have to deal with. Therefore, the objective of this study is to assess the alteration in the compressibility behavior of expansive clay respecting partial replacement of cement by zeolite in cemented samples. For this purpose,7 and 28 d cured samples treated with 6%,8%,10%,and 12%cement addition and 0,10%,30%,50%,70%,and 90%cement replacement by zeolite were investigated through Atterberg limit and a series of one-dimensional consolidation tests to evaluate the consistency limits and compressibility alteration. The liquid limits of the soil samples indicated a decremental trend as the cement content rose.Afterward, the increase of zeolite replacement up to 30%in each specific cement content diminished liquid limit to its lowest value.Further increment of zeolite replacement increased the liquid limit of the soil-binder mixtures. The lowest plasticity index was also achieved at the 30%zeolite replacement percentage;hence, the lowest swelling potential would be resulted, concerning an indirect classification. The results of the consolidation experimentations disclosed that zeolite replacement had adverse influence on consolidation parameters of cemented samples such as compression index, swell index, coefficient of compressibility, coefficient of volume compressibility, and coefficient of consolidation after 7 d of curing whereas after 28 d of curing, the 30%zeolite-replaced samples represented the best consolidation parameters.Eventually,it can be stated that the addition of cement alongside the partial substitution of cement by zeolite can be a beneficial strategy for the geo-environmental targets of this study.
文摘This work aims to assessment of the calcitic ornamental stone waste for the stabilization of expansive soil. Calcitic rock-derived waste together with different expansive soils from Egypt were characterized and processed for stabilizer optimization. The mineral, chemical and engineering characteristics of the waste and the soil samples were examined using XRD, DTA, TGA, SEM, XRF as well as geotechnical characteristics such as liquid, plastic and shrinkage limits, plasticity index, free swelling, and uni-axial compressive strength, respectively. The calcitic waste has been calcined in an electrical muffle furnace at 1000℃ for 1 hour. The samples were treated by 0–8% waste post calcination for soaking time1– 4 weeks.

文摘Cracks easily generate in concrete at early age owing to the shrinkage deformation.CaO-based expansion agent(CEA)and superabsorbent polymers(SAP)have been extensively used for the mitigation of concrete shrinkage. The macroscopic properties of concrete are highly determined by the microstructure. In this study, the influence of CEA and SAP addition on the pore structure evolution of cement paste under different curing temperatures was evaluated via low-field nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.Test results indicated that,in cement paste,a higher CEA content led to a higher porosity and a larger most probable pore diameter(MPPD).Meanwhile,SAP addition increased the porosity and MPPD of CEA cement paste at early age but decreased them after 7 d,and a higher SAP content always brought a higher porosity and MPPD.Furthermore, the addition of SAP led to a lower porosity and MPPD of CEA cement paste than that of plain cement paste after 14 d.Moreover, the porosity and MPPD of CEA cement paste decreased first and subsequently increased as the curing temperature raised.

文摘This paper investigates ruin, capital injection, and dividends for a two-dimensional risk model. The model posits that surplus levels of insurance companies are governed by a perturbed composite Poisson risk model. This model introduces a dependence between the two surplus levels, present in both the associated perturbations and the claims resulting from common shocks.Critical levels of capital injection and dividends are established for each of the two risks. The surplus levels are observed discretely at fixed intervals, guiding decisions on capital injection, dividends, and ruin at these junctures. This study employs a two-dimensional Fourier cosine series expansion method to approximate the finite time expected discounted operating cost until ruin. The ensuing approximation error is also quantified. The validity and accuracy of the method are corroborated through numerical examples.Furthermore, the research delves into the optimal capital allocation problem.

文摘For the Sylvester continued fraction expansions of real numbers,FAN et al.(2007)proved that, for almost all real numbers, the nth partial quotient grows exponentially with respect to the product of the first n-1 partial quotients. In this paper,we establish the Hausdorff dimension of the exceptional set where the growth rate is a general function.

文摘As a negative electrode material for lithium-ion batteries, silicon monoxide(SiO)suffers from dramatic volume changes during cycling, causing excessive stress within the electrode and resulting in electrode deformation and fragmentation. This ultimately leads to a decrease in cell capacity. The trends of volume expansion and capacity change of the SiO/graphite(SiO/C)composite electrode during cycling were investigated via in situ expansion monitoring.First,a series of expansion test schemes were designed, and the linear relationship between negative electrode expansion and cell capacity degradation was quantitatively analyzed. Then, the effects of different initial pressures on the long-term cycling performance of the cell were evaluated. Finally, the mechanism of their effects was analyzed by scanning electron microscope. The results show that after 50 cycles, the cell capacity decreases from 2.556 mAh to 1.689 mAh,with a capacity retention ratio(CRR)of only 66.08%.A linear relationship between the capacity retention ratio and thickness expansion was found.Electrochemical measurements and scanning electron microscope images demonstrate that intense stress inhibits the lithiation of the negative electrode and that the electrode is more susceptible to irreversible damage during cycling.Overall, these results reveal the relationship between the cycling performance of SiO and the internal pressure of the electrode from a macroscopic point of view, which provides some reference for the application of SiO/C composite electrodes in lithium-ion batteries.

文摘How multi-unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)carrying a payload pass an obstacle-dense environment is practically important.Up to now, there have been few results on safe motion planning for the multi-UAVs cooperative transportation system(CTS)to pass through such an environment. The prob-lem is challenging because it is difficult to analyze and explicitly take into account the swing motion of the payload in planning. In this paper,a modeling method of virtual tube is proposed by fus-ing the advantages of the existing modeling algorithm for regu-lar virtual tube and the expansion environment method. The pro-posed method can not only generate a safe and smooth tube for UAVs,but also ensure the payload stays away from the dense obstacles.Simulation results show the effectiveness of the method and the safety of the planned tube.
