The influence of oxygen content on the dielectric property of BiFeO3 ceramics is studied by experiment and firstprinciples calculation. The experimental result demonstrates that the dielectric constant of BiFeO3 is strongly dependent on introduced oxygen and oxygen vacancies. By comparison with BiFeO3, the introduced oxygen and oxygen vacancies can lead to a reduction in dielectric constant of BiFeO5 at a lower frequency. The first-principles calculation also shows a similar result when photon energy is in a range of 2.0-4.1 eV. A likely explanation is that this oxygen content dependence may be ascribed to the distortion of Fe-O octahedron structure due to oxygen vacancies or excess oxygen ions in the crystal structure of BiFeO3. 展开更多

For improving the actuation performance at low electric fields of dielectric elastomers,achieving high dielectric constant(εr)and low modulus(Y)simultaneously has been targeted in the past decades,but there are few ways to accomplish both.In contrast to the classical strategies such as incorporating plasticizers or ceramic to prepare the silicon-based dielectric elastomers,here,blending an amino-complexed hybrid(polyethyleneimine(PEI)-Ag)with polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)elastomer is reported as an alternative strategy to tailor theεr and Y.PEI-Ag not only exhibits excellent dielectric enhancement properties but also minimizes the PDMS crosslinking through amino-complexed reaction between PEI and Pt catalysts.The prepared dielectric elastomers have aεr of 7.2@10^(3)Hz and Y of 1.14 MPa,leading to an actuation strain of 22.27%at 35 V/μm.Hence,incorporating such novel hybrids based on dual amino-complexed effect on both matrix and particles sufficiently promotes the actuated performance of dielectric elastomers. 展开更多

Saturation magnetization,magneto-crystalline anisotropy field,and dielectric properties are closely related to microwave devices applied at different frequencies.For regulating the magnetic and dielectric properties of W-type barium ferrites,single-phase BaMe_(2)Fe_(16)O_(27)(Me=Fe,Mn,Zn,Ni,Co) with different Me ions were synthesized by the high-temperature solid-state method.The saturation magnetization(Ms) range from 47.77 emu/g to 95.34 emu/g and the magnetic anisotropy field(H_a) range from 10700.60 Oe(1 Oe=79.5775 A·m^(-1)) to 13739.57 Oe,depending on the type of cation substitution in the hexagonal lattice.The dielectric permittivity and dielectric loss decrease with increasing frequency of the AC electric field in the low-frequency region,while they almost remain constant in the high-frequency region.The charac teristics of easy regulation and preparation make it a potential candidate for use in microwave device applications. 展开更多

Polyimide(PI)is a promising electronic packaging material,but it remains challenging to obtain an all-organic PI hybrid film with decreased dielectric constant and loss without modifying the monomer.Herein,a series of allorganic PI hybrid films were successfully prepared by introducing the covalent organic framework(COF),which could induce the formation of the cross-linking structure in the PI matrix.Due to the synergistic effects of the COF fillers and the cross-linking structure,the PI/COF hybrid film containing 2 wt%COF exhibited the lowest dielectric constant of 2.72 and the lowest dielectric loss(tanδ)of 0.0077 at 1 MHz.It is attributed to the intrinsic low dielectric constant of COF and a large number of mesopores within the PI.Besides,the cross-linking network of PI prevents the molecular chains from stacking and improves the fraction of free volume(FFV).The molecular dynamics simulation results are well consistent with the dielectric properties data.Furthermore,the PI/COF hybrid film with 5 wt%COF showed a significant enhancement in breakdown strength,which increased to 412.8 kV/mm as compared with pure PI.In addition,the PI/COF hybrid film achieve to reduce the dielectric constant and thermal expansion coefficient(CTE).It also exhibited excellent thermal,hydrophobicity,and mechanical performance.The all-organic PI/COF hybrid films have great commercial potential as next-generation electronic packaging materials. 展开更多

The further electrification of various fields in production and daily life makes it a topic worthy of exploration to improve the performance of capacitors for a long time,including thin-film capacitors.The discharge energy density of thin-film capacitors that serves as one of the important types directly depends on electric field strength and the dielectric constant of the insulation material.However,it has long been a great challenge to improve the breakdown strength and dielectric constant simultaneously.Considering that boron nitride nanosheets(BNNS)possess superior insulation and thermal conductivity owing to wide band gap and 2-dimensional structure,a bilayer polymer film is prepared via coating BNNS by solution casting on surface of polyethylene terephthalate(PET)films.By revealing the bandgap and insulating behavior with UV absorption spectrum,leakage current,and finite element calculation,it is manifested that nanocoating contributes to enhance the bandgap of polymer films,thereby suppressing the charge injection by redirecting their transport from electrodes.Worthy to note that an ultrahigh breakdown field strength(~736 MV m^(−1)),an excellent discharge energy density(~8.77 J cm^(−3))and a prominent charge-discharge efficiency(~96.51%)are achieved concurrently,which is ascribed to the contribution of BNNS ultrathin layer.In addition,the modified PET films also have superior comprehensive performance at high temperatures(~120°C).The materials and methods here selected are easily accessible and facile,which are suitable for large-scale roll-to-roll process production,and are of certain significance to explore the methods about film modification suitable for commercial promotion. 展开更多

In this paper, the dielectric properties of CO2, CO2/air, CO2/O2, CO2/N2, CO2/CF4, CO2/CH4, CO2/He, C02/H2, CO2/NH3 and CO2/CO were investigated based on the Boltzmann equation analysis, in which the reduced critical electric field strength (E/N)cr of the gases was derived from the calculated electron energy distribution function (EEDF) by solv- ing the Boltzmann transport equation. In this work, it should be noted that the fundamental data were carefully selected by the published experimental results and calculations to ensure the validity of the calculation. The results indicate that if He, H2, N2 and CH4, in which there axe high ionization coefficients or a lack of attachment reactions, are added into CO2, the dielectric properties will decrease. On the other hand, air, O2, NH3 and CFa (ranked in terms of (E/N)cr value in increasing order) have the potential to improve the dielectric property of CO2 at room temperature. 展开更多

This paper reports that the multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT)/nylon-6 (PA6) nanocomposites with dif- ferent MWCNT loadings have been prepared by a simple melt-compounding method. The electrical, dielectric, and surface wetting properties of the CNT/PA6 composites have been studied. The temperature dependence of the conductivity of the CNT/PA6 composite with 10.0wt% CNT loading (σRT - 10^-4 S/cm) are measured, and afterwards a charge-energy-limited tunnelling model (In σ(T) - T^-1/2) is found. With increasing CNT weight percentage from 0.0 to 10.0 wt%, the dielectric constant of the CNT/PA6 composites enhances and the dielectric loss tangent increases two orders of magnitude. In addition, water contact angles of the CNT/PA6 composites increase and the composites with CNT loading larger than 2.0 wt% even become hydrophobic. The obtained results indicate that the electrical and surface properties of the composites have been significantly enhanced by the embedded carbon nanotubes. 展开更多

Pyrolytic carbon(PyC) coatings are deposited on the Nextel-440 fiber fabrics by chemical vapor deposition(CVD).The dielectric properties of the Nextel-440 fiber fabrics with PyC coatings(Nextel-440/PyC) are investigated in a temperature range from room temperature to 700℃ in X-band. Compared with the permittivity of the original Nextel-440 received,the complex permittivity of the Nextel-440/PyC(the real part εand the imaginary part ε), is significantly improved: εof the Nextel-440/PyC has a positive temperature coefficient, in contrast, εof the Nextel-440/PyC exhibits a negative temperature coefficient. Moreover, the reflection loss in units of d B is calculated. The results indicate that the microwave absorbing properties of the Nextel-440/PyC coatings is enhanced at 700℃ compared with that at lower temperatures. 展开更多

Resuls Dielectric properties of CVD diamond fAn depend mainly on its polycrystalline nature, and the presence of non-diamond disordered graphitic regions and impurities between diamond grains of the film. Annealing at 500℃ leads to the removal of greater part of disordered graphitic regions, but am not remove all disordered graphitic regions and impurities. The optical-induced dielectric tunability properties of DAST crystal in THz range were experimentally demonstrated.The DAST crystal was grown by the spontaneous nucleation method(SNM) and characterized by infrared spectrum. With the optimum wavelength of the exciting optical field, the transmission spectra of the DAST crystal excited by 532 nm laser under different power were measured by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy(THz-TDS) at room temperature. The transmitted THz intensity reduction of 26 % was obtained at 0.68 THz when the optical field was up to 80 m W. Meanwhile,the variation of refractive index showed an approximate quadratic behavior with the exciting optical field, which was related to the internal space charge field of photorefractive phenomenon in the DAST crystal caused by the photogenerated carrier.A significant enhancement of 13.7 % for THz absorption coefficient occurred at 0.68 THz due to the photogenerated carrier absorption effect in the DAST crystal. 展开更多

Polycrystalline samples of(Zn, Co) co-doped SnO2 nanoparticles were prepared using a co-precipitation method. The influence of(Zn, Co) co-doping on electrical, dielectric, and magnetic properties was studied. All of the(Zn, Co) co-doped SnO2 powder samples have the same tetragonal structure of SnO2. A decrease in the dielectric constant was observed with the increase of Co doping concentration. It was found that the dielectric constant and dielectric loss values decrease, while AC electrical conductivity increases with doping concentration and frequency. Magnetization measurements revealed that the Co doping SnO2 samples exhibits room temperature ferromagnetism. Our results illustrate that(Zn, Co) co-doped SnO2 nanoparticles have an excellent dielectric, magnetic properties, and high electrical conductivity than those reported previously, indicating that these(Zn, Co) co-doped SnO2 materials can be used in the field of the ultrahigh dielectric material, high frequency device, and spintronics. 展开更多

A phenomenological Landau–Devonshire theory is developed to investigate the ferroelectric, dielectric, and piezoelectric properties of(110) oriented Pb(Zr_(1-x)Ti_x)O_3(x = 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, and 0.7) thin films. At room temperature, the tetragonal a_1 phase, the orthorhombic a_2c phase, the triclinic γ_1 phase, and the triclinic γ_2 phase are stable. The appearance of the negative polarization component P_2 in the a_2c phase and the γ_1 phase is attributed to the nonlinear coupling terms in the thermodynamic potential. The γ phase of the Pb(Zr_(1-x)Ti_x)O_3 thin films has better dielectric and piezoelectric properties than the a_2c phase and the a_1 phase. The largest dielectric and piezoelectric coefficients are obtained in the Pb(Zr_(0.5)Ti_(0.5))O_3 thin film. The piezoelectric coefficient of 110–150 pm/V is obtained in the(110) oriented Pb(Zr_(0.5)Ti_(0.5))O_3 thin film, and the Pb(Zr_(0.3)Ti_(0.7))O_3 thin film has the remnant polarization and relative dielectric constant of 50 μC/cm^2 and 100, respectively,which are in agreement with the experimental measurements reported in the literature. 展开更多

Tissue dielectric properties can vary upon the incident of an acoustic wave.The goal of this study is to quantify this change due to the acoustoelectric effect(AE),and to obtain the frequency-dependent dielectric properties of tissues exposed to low-intensity focused ultrasound(LIFU).The dielectric properties of the blood,brain,chest muscle,heart,kidney,leg muscle,liver,lung,pancreas,and spleen of rats were measured by an open-ended coaxial probe method.The acoustic intensity of LIFU focus was 2.97 MPa(67.6 W/cm^(2)),3.95 MPa(120 W/cm^(2)),and 5.17 MPa(204 W/cm^(2)),respectively,and the measurement frequency band was 0.1–7.08 GHz.The measurement results show that with the LIFU modulation,the conductivity and dielectric constant decreased in the high-frequency band,and on the contrary,they increased in the lowfrequency band,and the larger the acoustic intensity was,the more obvious the phenomenon was.This work contributes to a better understanding of the mechanisms by which ultrasound acts on the dielectric properties of biological tissues.It is expected that the findings from this study will provide a basis that the response of tissue to LIFU modulation can be monitored by noninvasive techniques such as microwave-induced thermoacoustic imaging(MTI)and microwave imaging,present a new idea for improving the endogenous contrast between different biological tissues in MTI and acoustoelectric imaging,and possibly lead to the development of a new imaging method based on the relaxation time of tissue after LIFU modulation. 展开更多

A new sol-gel process is applied to fabricate the BST (BaxSr1-xTiO3) sol and nano-powder of La-Mn-Al co-doping with Ba/Sr ratio 65/35, and the BST thick film is prepared in the Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrate. The powder and thick film are characterized by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope. The influence of La-Mn-Al co-doping on the dielectric properties and micro-structure of BST thick film is analyzed. The results show that the La, Mn, and Al ions can take an obvious restraint on the growth of BaSrTiO3 grains. The polycrystalline particles come into being during the crystallization of thick film, which may improve the uniformity and compactness of thick film. The influence of unequal-valence and doping amount on the leakage current, dielectric loss, and dielectric property are mainly discussed. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of thick film are 1200 and 0.03, respectively, in the case of 1mol% La doping, 2mol% Mn doping, and 1mol% Al doping. 展开更多

Barium titanate(BTO) thin films were deposited on polycrystalline Ni foils by using the polymer assisted deposition(PAD) technique.The growth conditions including ambient and annealing temperatures were carefully optimized based on thermal dynamic analysis to control the oxidation processing and interdiffusion.Crystal structures,surface morphologies,and dielectric performance were examined and compared for BTO thin films annealed under different temperatures.Correlations between the fabrication conditions,microstructures,and dielectric properties were discussed.BTO thin films fabricated under the optimized conditions show good crystalline structure and promising dielectric properties with εr~ 400 and tan δ 〈 0.025 at 100 kHz.The data demonstrate that BTO films grown on polycrystalline Ni substrates by PAD are promising in device applications. 展开更多

Experiments have been carried out to deter- mine the spatial distribution of electric field by using FEM software and the electronic excitation temperature in discharge by calculating ratio of two relative intensities of atomic spectral lines. In this work, we choose seven Ar atomic emission lines at 415.86 nm [(3s^23p^5)5p →(3s^23p^5)4s] and 706.7 nm, 714.7 nm, 738.4 nm, 751.5 nm, 794.8 nm and 800.6 nm [(3s^23p^5)4p → (3s^23p^5)4s] to estimate the excitation temperature under a Boltzmann approximation. The average electron energy is evaluated in each discharge by using line ratio of 337.1 nm (N2(C^3Пu →B3Пg)) to 391.4 nm (N2^+(B2 ∑u^+→ ∑g^+)). Furthermore, variations of the electronic excitation tempera- ture are presented versus dielectric thickness and dielectric materials. The discharge is stable and uniform along the axial direction, and the electronic excitation temperature at the edge of the copper electrode is the largest. The corresponding average electron energy is in the range of 1.6- 5.1 eV and the electric field is in 1.7-3.2 MV/m, when the distance from copper electrode varies from 0 cm to 6 cm. Moreover, the electronic excitation temperature with a higher permittivity leads to a higher dissipated electrical power. 展开更多

We investigate the dielectric properties of multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs) and graphite filling in SiO2 with the filling concentration of 2-20 wt.% in the frequency range of 10 ^2-10^ 7 Hz.MWCNTs and graphite have general electrical properties and percolation phenomena owing to their quasi-structure made up of graphene layers.Both permittivity ε and conductivity σ exhibit jumps around the percolation threshold.Variations of dielectric properties of the composites are in agreement with the percolation theory.All the percolation phenomena are determined by hopping and migrating electrons,which are attributed to the special electronic transport mechanism of the fillers in the composites.However,the twin-percolation phenomenon exists when the concentration of MWCNTs is between 5-10 wt.% and 15-20 wt.% in the MWCNTs/SiO2 composites,while in the graphite/SiO2 composites,there is only one percolation phenomenon in the graphite concentration of 10-15 wt.%.The unique twin-percolation phenomenon of MWCNTs/SiO2 is described and attributed to the electronic transfer mechanism,especially the network effect of MWCNTs in the composites.The network formation plays an essential role in determining the second percolation threshold of MWCNTs/SiO2. 展开更多

The microstructures, morphologies, and dielectric properties of the as-prepared products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), field emission environment scanning electron microscope (FEESEM), and microwave vector network analyzer respectively. The results indicate that the as-prepared products are Sb-doped ZnO single crystallines with a hexagonal wurtzite structure, the flower bud saturation degree Fd is obviously different from that of the pure ZnO nanowire clusters, the good dielectric loss property is found in Sb-doped ZnO products with low density, and the dielectric loss tangent tanSe increases with the increase of the Sb-doping concentration in a certain concentration range. 展开更多

Poly(vinylpyrrolidone)/tetrabutyl titanate (PVP/ [CH3(CH2)3O]4Ti) composite nanofibres are prepared by electrospinning. After calcining parts of composite nanofibres in air at 700 ~℃, petal-like TiO2 nanostructures are obtained. The characterizations of composite nanofibres and TiO2 nanostructures are carried out by a scanning electron microscope, an x-ray diffractometer, and an infrared spectrometer. Electrospun nanofibres are pressed into pellets under different pressures in order to explore their dielectric properties. It is found that the dielectric constants decrease with frequency increasing. The dielectric constant of the composite nanofibre pellet increases whereas its dielectric loss tangent decreases due to the doped titanium ions compared with those of pure PVP nanofibre pellets. In addition, it is observed that the dielectric constant of the composite nanofibre pellet decreases with the increase of the pressure applied in pelletization. 展开更多

Influence of the gassing materials, such as PA6, PMMA, and POM on the dielectric properties of air are investigated. In this work, the fundamental electron collision cross section data were carefully selected and validated. Then the species compositions of the air–organic vapor mixtures were calculated based on the Gibbs free energy minimization. Finally, the Townsend ionization coefficient, the Townsend electron attachment coefficient and the critical reduced electric field strength were derived from the calculated electron energy distribution function by solving the Boltzmann transport equation. The calculation results indicated that H;O with large attachment cross sections has a great impact on the critical reduced electric field strength of the air–organic vapor mixtures. On the other hand, the vaporization of gassing materials can help to increase the dielectric properties of air circuit breakers to some degree. 展开更多
