First, we identified the main sources where consumers acquire or seek information about miniature automobiles and discussed their extent of information search. Then, based on logistic regression and optimal scaling regression of statistics, we studied the influences of characteristics of consumers of miniature automobiles on the extent of information search and on Internet usage. The results indicate that consumers often utilize four sources to obtain information about miniature automobiles. The dominant information source for consumers is their friends/family, followed by dealers, newspapers, and TV. Age, occupation, education and income significantly affect the extent of information search, but gender and city of residence do not have significant impacts. Age, city of residence, occupation, education and income produce significant influences on Internet usage. Gender has an insignificant influence on whether a consumer uses the Internet to search for information.展开更多

BACKGROUND Association between tea consumption and incident hypertension remains uncertain.This study conducted to examine the health effects of tea consumption on blood pressure progression and hypertension incidence...BACKGROUND Association between tea consumption and incident hypertension remains uncertain.This study conducted to examine the health effects of tea consumption on blood pressure progression and hypertension incidence.METHODS A population-based cohort of 38,913 Chinese participants without hypertension at baseline were included in the current study.Information on tea consumption was collected through standardized questionnaires.Associations of tea consump-tion with blood pressure progression and incident hypertension were analyzed using logistic regression models and Cox propor-tional hazards regression models,respectively.RESULTS During a median follow-up of 5.9 years,17,657 individuals had experienced progression to a higher blood pressure stage and 5,935 individuals had developed hypertension.In multivariate analyses,habitual tea drinkers(≥3 times/week for at least six months)had a 17%lower risk for blood pressure progression[odds ratio(OR)=0.83,95%CI:0.79-0.88]and a 14%de-creased risk for incident hypertension[hazard ratio(HR)=0.86,95%CI:0.80-0.91]compared with non-habitual tea drinkers.In-dividuals in different baseline blood pressure groups could obtain similar benefit from habitual tea drinking.In terms of tea con-sumption amount,an inverse,linear dose-response relation between monthly consumption of tea leaves and risk of blood pres-sure progression was observed,while the risk of incident hypertension did not reduce further after consuming around 100 g of tea leaves per month.CONCLUSIONS Our study demonstrated that habitual tea consumption could provide preventive effect against blood pres-sure progression and hypertension incidence.展开更多
Japan has a long history of using foods with health benefits and Japanese people are well-known for their longevity.In 1991,the Ministry of Health,Labor and Welfare introduced a functional food regulation called“food...Japan has a long history of using foods with health benefits and Japanese people are well-known for their longevity.In 1991,the Ministry of Health,Labor and Welfare introduced a functional food regulation called“foods for specified health uses”(FOSHU)in Japan.After the introduction of the functional food system,many clinically proven FOSHU products with health benefits have been developed and launched in the market.As a result,the net sales of FOSHU products reached 6.2 billion dollars in 2007.Most of the health claims relate to improving gastro-intestinal health using probiotics.Triglycerides,high blood pressure,high LDL-cholesterol,and high blood glucose are mainly associated with the related health claims.After 2007,the market for FOSHU products was almost saturated.However,a novel functional regulatory system\called“Foods with Function Claims”was established in 2015 based on the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act system established in the USA.Major health claims in the new regulation system are associated with fatigue,eyes,memory,stress,sleep,joints,blood flow,body temperature,muscles,and Body Mass Index.After the introduction of the new system,the total sales for functional foods including FOSHU products reached 8 billion dollars in 2018.The new functional regulatory system is more flexible in terms of health claims,the protocol for clinical studies,and the required results.Therefore,the market for new regulatory products is still growing.In the present paper,the potential of both regulatory systems and some related issues will be discussed.展开更多

Since an ...The purpose of this study is to contribute to the literature by studying the effects of sudden changes both on crude oil import price and domestic gasoline price on inflation for Turkey, an emerging country. Since an inflation targeting regime is being carried out by the Central Bank of Turkey, determination of such effects is becoming more important. Therefore empirical evidence in this paper will serve as guidance for those countries, which have an in- flation targeting regime. Analyses have been done in the period of October 2005-December 2012 by Markovswitching vector autoregressive （MS-VAR） models which are successful in capturing the nonlinear properties of variables. Using MS-VAR analysis, it is found that there are 2 regimes in the analysis period. Furthermore, regime changes can be dated and the turning points of economic cycles can be determined. In addition, it is found that the effect of the changes in crude oil and domestic gasoline prices on consumer prices and core inflation is not the same under different regimes. Moreover, the sudden increase in gasoline price is more important for consumer price infla- tion than crude oil price shocks. Another finding is the presence of a pass-through effect from oil price and ga- soline price to core inflation.展开更多

This paper describes a practice of a medical library in providing online access to health information for the general public.Design/methodology/approach: A four-step workflow is developed to integrate and disseminate heterogeneous health information from medical associations. First, a raw data repository is developed to manage the original submissions from information providers.Second, each document in the raw data repository is represented in a standardized XML schema. Third, the medical terms are identified and manually annotated, enriching the semantics of health information. Lastly, all the semantically enriched XML documents are converted to HTMLs for online dissemination.Findings: A health information website, CHealth, was developed for Chinese speakers. It provides free online access for all without any login or IP constrains. CHealth is available at www.chealth.org.cn.Research limitations: The current workflow is time-consuming and labor-intensive due to the lack of information submission/exchange standard and commonly agreed-on consumer health terminology in Chinese.Originality/value: In this work, the target audience of the medical library has been extended from traditional academic/professional to the general public. The main contribution of this research is showing that consumers can mitigate peak demands by optimizing energy costs of an air conditioner(AC) when a spike happens. It may only occur in a one and a half hours spike during the peak season. This model also investigates how AC applies the pre-cooling method when there is a substantial risk of a price spike. The results indicate that the potential benefit of the model is achieving energy savings for consumers and aggregators,also reducing electricity bills for the consumers. The model is tested with selected characteristics of the room,and based on the standard room in a residential house in Makassar, a city of Indonesia.展开更多

However, tuning the design parameters to achieve the target response is an optimization process that is tedious and time-consuming. Here,we demonstrate that a well-trained tandem neural network can deal with this problem efficiently, which can not only forwardly predict the scattering spectra of the multilayer structure with high precision, but also inversely design the required structural parameters efficiently.展开更多

Self-oscillation is an intriguing and omnipresent phenomenon that governs a broad range of growth dynamics and formation of nanoscale periodic and delicate heterostructures.A self-oscillating growth phenomenon of cata...Self-oscillation is an intriguing and omnipresent phenomenon that governs a broad range of growth dynamics and formation of nanoscale periodic and delicate heterostructures.A self-oscillating growth phenomenon of catalyst droplets,consuming surface-coating a-Si/a-Ge bilayer,is exploited to accomplish a high-frequency alternating growth of ultrathin crystalline Si and Ge(c-Si/c-Ge)nano-slates,with Ge-rich layer thickness of 14–19 nm,embedded within a superlattice nanowire structure,with pre-known position and uniform channel diameter.A subsequent selective etching of the Ge-rich segments leaves a chain of ultrafine standing c-Si nanosheets down to~6 nm thick,without the use of any expensive high-resolution lithography and growth modulation control.A ternary-phase-competition model has been established to explain the underlying formation mechanism of this nanoscale self-oscillating growth dynamics.It is also suggested that these ultrathin nanosheets could help to produce ultrathin fin-channels for advanced electronics,or provide size-specified trapping sites to capture and position hetero nanoparticle for high-precision labelling or light emission.展开更多

文摘This research is aimed to develop a consumer demanding side response model to assist electricity consumers to mitigate peak demands during the peak season. The main contribution of this research is showing that consumers can mitigate peak demands by optimizing energy costs of an air conditioner(AC) when a spike happens. It may only occur in a one and a half hours spike during the peak season. This model also investigates how AC applies the pre-cooling method when there is a substantial risk of a price spike. The results indicate that the potential benefit of the model is achieving energy savings for consumers and aggregators,also reducing electricity bills for the consumers. The model is tested with selected characteristics of the room,and based on the standard room in a residential house in Makassar, a city of Indonesia.

文摘We design a multilayer cylindrical structure to realize superscattering of underwater sound. Because of the near degeneracy of resonances in multiple channels of the structure, the scattering contributions from these resonances can overlap to break the single-channel limit of subwavelength objects. However, tuning the design parameters to achieve the target response is an optimization process that is tedious and time-consuming. Here,we demonstrate that a well-trained tandem neural network can deal with this problem efficiently, which can not only forwardly predict the scattering spectra of the multilayer structure with high precision, but also inversely design the required structural parameters efficiently.

文摘Movement intention recognition paves the path to developing Brain-Computer Interface(BCI)applications.Current research mostly focuses on questions like"which hand is intended to move".While answering questions like"whether a hand is intended to move"is more desirable for widely realworld applications,because we cannot continuously perform intention tasks during usage,and the gap periods may cause unintended operation resulting in system failures.However,this kind of intention detection task is more difficult,since for a"whether"problem,it is hard to know what the"not"situation is and consequently to acquire training samples for the"not"situation.Furthermore,the occurrence of genuine intentions is comparatively scarce and unexpected,making the intention detection task hard and computation-consuming.To tackle this problem,we propose a Reconstruction-based Intention Detection(RID)framework,which utilises a reconstruction model to represent a high-level abstraction of EEG signals and leverages the reconstruction errors to determine"whether"there is a movement intention.Our framework is not only theoretically flexible and robust to any sophisticated real-world scenarios but also hand-crafted feature and domain knowledge free.Comprehensive experiments on detecting movement intention tasks with different reconstruction models demonstrate the promising performance of the proposed reconstruction intention detection framework.

文摘Self-oscillation is an intriguing and omnipresent phenomenon that governs a broad range of growth dynamics and formation of nanoscale periodic and delicate heterostructures.A self-oscillating growth phenomenon of catalyst droplets,consuming surface-coating a-Si/a-Ge bilayer,is exploited to accomplish a high-frequency alternating growth of ultrathin crystalline Si and Ge(c-Si/c-Ge)nano-slates,with Ge-rich layer thickness of 14–19 nm,embedded within a superlattice nanowire structure,with pre-known position and uniform channel diameter.A subsequent selective etching of the Ge-rich segments leaves a chain of ultrafine standing c-Si nanosheets down to~6 nm thick,without the use of any expensive high-resolution lithography and growth modulation control.A ternary-phase-competition model has been established to explain the underlying formation mechanism of this nanoscale self-oscillating growth dynamics.It is also suggested that these ultrathin nanosheets could help to produce ultrathin fin-channels for advanced electronics,or provide size-specified trapping sites to capture and position hetero nanoparticle for high-precision labelling or light emission.
