This work aims to reveal the mechanical responses and energy evolution characteristics of skarn rock under constant amplitude-varied frequency loading paths.Testing results show that the fatigue lifetime,stress−strain...This work aims to reveal the mechanical responses and energy evolution characteristics of skarn rock under constant amplitude-varied frequency loading paths.Testing results show that the fatigue lifetime,stress−strain responses,deformation,energy dissipation and fracture morphology are all impacted by the loading rate.A pronounced influence of the loading rate on rock deformation is found,with slower loading rate eliciting enhanced strain development,alongside augmented energy absorption and dissipation.In addition,it is revealed that the loading rate and cyclic loading amplitude jointly influence the phase shift distribution,with accelerated rates leading to a narrower phase shift duration.It is suggested that lower loading rate leads to more significant energy dissipation.Finally,the tensile or shear failure modes were intrinsically linked to loading strategy,with cyclic loading predominantly instigating shear damage,as manifest in the increased presence of pulverized grain particles.This work would give new insights into the fortification of mining structures and the optimization of mining methodologies.展开更多
Constant envelope with a fractional Fourier transformorthogonal frequency division multiplexing(CE-FrFT-OFDM)is a special case of a constant envelope OFDM(CE-OFDM),both being energy efficient wireless communication te...Constant envelope with a fractional Fourier transformorthogonal frequency division multiplexing(CE-FrFT-OFDM)is a special case of a constant envelope OFDM(CE-OFDM),both being energy efficient wireless communication techniques with a 0 dB peak to average power ratio(PAPR).However,with the proper selection of fractional order,the first technique has a high bit error rate(BER)performance in the frequency-time selective channels.This paper performs further analysis of CE-FrFT-OFDM by examining its spectral efficiency(SE)and energy efficiency(EE)and compare to the famous OFDM and FrFT-OFDM techniques.Analytical and comprehensive simulations conducted show that,the CE-FrFT-OFDM has five times the EE of OFDM and FrFT-OFDM systems with a slightly less SE.Increasing CE-FrFT-OFDM’s transmission power by increasing its amplitude to 1.7 increases its SE to match that of the OFDM and FrFT-OFDM systems while slightly reducing its EE by 20%to be four times that of OFDM and FrFTOFDM systems.OFDM and FrFT-OFDM’s amplitude fluctuations cause rapid changing output back-off(OBO)power requirements and further reduce power amplifier(PA)efficiency while CE-FrFTOFDM stable operational linear range makes it a better candidate and outperforms the other techniques when their OBO exceeds 1.7.Higher EE and low BER in time-frequency selective channel are attracting features for CE-FrFT-OFDM deployment in mobile devices.展开更多

This work proposes constrained constant modulus unscented Kalman filter(CCM-UKF) algorithm and its low-complexity version called reduced-rank constrained constant modulus unscented Kalman filter(RR-CCM-UKF) algorithm ...This work proposes constrained constant modulus unscented Kalman filter(CCM-UKF) algorithm and its low-complexity version called reduced-rank constrained constant modulus unscented Kalman filter(RR-CCM-UKF) algorithm for blind adaptive beamforming. In the generalized sidelobe canceller(GSC) structure, the proposed algorithms are devised according to the CCM criterion. Firstly, the cost function of the constrained optimization problem is transformed to suit the Kalman filter-style state space model. Then, the optimum weight vector of the beamformer can be estimated by using the recursive formulas of UKF. In addition, the a priori parameters of UKF(system and measurement noises) are processed adaptively in the implementation. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms outperform the existing methods in terms of convergence speeds, output signal-tointerference-plus-noise ratios(SINRs), mean-square deviations(MSDs) and robustness against steering mismatch.展开更多
Undoped and Na-doped ZnO films were deposited by sol-gel method.The effects of sodium incorporation on structure,surface morphology and optical constants of the films were investigated.X-ray diffraction patterns show ...Undoped and Na-doped ZnO films were deposited by sol-gel method.The effects of sodium incorporation on structure,surface morphology and optical constants of the films were investigated.X-ray diffraction patterns show the hexagonal wurtzite polycrystalline structure and that the sodium incorporation leads to the change in the structural characteristics of ZnO films.The SEM observations show that the surface morphology of the films is affected by the sodium incorporation.The transmission spectra show that the average transmittance of the films is above 85% in the visible range.The absorption edge initially blue-shifts and then red-shifts with the increase of Na doping content.The optical constants of these films were calculated using transmission spectra.Refractive indices of the films in the visible range decrease at first and then increase with increasing Na doping content.展开更多

However, during construction, the excess pore-air pressure g...The shear strength parameters for geotechnical designs are obtained mainly from consolidated drained (CD) or consolidated undrained (CU) triaxial tests. However, during construction, the excess pore-air pressure generally dissipates instantaneously while the excess pore-water pressure dissipates with time. This condition needs to be simulated in a constant water content (CW) triaxial test. The study on Yunnan red clay is carried out to investigate the soil-water characteristics and the shear strength characteristics under the constant water content condition. Osmotic technique is used to obtain the soil-water characteristic curve. A series of CW triaxial tests are conducted on statically compacted specimens. The experimental results show that the soil-water characteristic curve has a low air entry value of 7 kPa due to large pores in non-uniform pore size distribution, and a high residual value exceeding 10 MPa. In addition, the initial degree of saturation and net confining stress play an important role in affecting the shear characteristics under the constant water content condition. Finally, a new semi-empirical shear strength model in terms of degree of saturation is proposed and then applied to Yuunan red clay. Simulation result shows that the model is capable of capturing some key features of soils. The model can be used in whole engineering practice range, covering both unsaturmed and saturated soils.展开更多
The dielectric constant(DC)is one of the key properties for detection of threat materials such as Improvised Explosive Devices(IEDs).In the present paper,the density functional theory(DFT)as well as ab-initio approach...The dielectric constant(DC)is one of the key properties for detection of threat materials such as Improvised Explosive Devices(IEDs).In the present paper,the density functional theory(DFT)as well as ab-initio approaches are used to explore effective methods to predict dielectric constants of a series of 12 energetic materials(EMs)for which experimental data needed to experimentally determine the dielectric constant(refractive indices)are available.These include military grades energetic materials,nitro and peroxide compounds,and the widely used nitroglycerin.Ab-initio and DFT calculations are conducted.In order to calculate dielectric constant values of materials,potential DFT functional combined with basis sets are considered for testing.Accuracy of the calculations are compared to experimental data listed in the scientific literature,and time required for calculations are both evaluated and discussed.The best functional/basis set combinations among those tested are CAM-B3LYP and AUG-ccpVDZm,which provide great results,with accuracy deviations below 5%when calculated results are compared to experimental data.展开更多

The new algorithm is designed according to the constant modulus criterion and takes full advantage of the noncircular property of the signal of interest (SOI), significantly increasing the output signal-to interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR), enhancing the convergence speed and decreasing the steady-state misadjustment. Since it requires no known training data, the proposed algorithm saves a large amount of the available spectrum. Theoretical analysis and simulation results are presented to demonstrate its superiority over the conventional linear least mean square-based CMA (L-LMS-CMA), the conventional linear recursive least square-based CMA (L-RLS-CMA), WL-LMS-CMA, WL-RLS-CMA and L-UKF-CMA.展开更多
