This paper proposes a reliability evaluation model for a multi-dimensional network system,which has potential to be applied to the internet of things or other practical networks.A multi-dimensional network system with one source element and multiple sink elements is considered first.Each element can con-nect with other elements within a stochastic connection ranges.The system is regarded as successful as long as the source ele-ment remains connected with all sink elements.An importance measure is proposed to evaluate the performance of non-source elements.Furthermore,to calculate the system reliability and the element importance measure,a multi-valued decision diagram based approach is structured and its complexity is analyzed.Finally,a numerical example about the signal transfer station system is illustrated to analyze the system reliability and the ele-ment importance measure. 展开更多

Current status and diversity of fish resources in the Pinglu Canal Century Project

[Objective]The channel straightening project of the Pinglu Canal has fragmented the river course,compromising the integrity of original river course and causing ecosystem patchiness.Understanding the current status of fish resources and the characteristics of their diversity is crucial for the ecological management of the Pinglu Canal.[Methods]During the spring and autumn in 2021 and 2022,a survey of fish resources and species diversity in the Pinglu Canal was conducted using multi-mesh gill nets.A total of 125 fish species were collected,belonging to 10 orders,34 families,and 89 genera.[Results]The result showed that the Pinglu Canal contained three nationally protected Class II species,two endemic species of the Qinjiang River,three anadromous/migratory species,and eight invasive species,accounting for 2.4%,1.6%,2.4%,and 6.4%of the total species,respectively.The fish community primarily consisted of mid-and bottom-dwelling,adhesive-egg-laying,and omnivorous species.The Shannon-Wiener,Simpson,Margalef,and Pielou indices of the fish community in the Pinglu Canal ranged from 2.347 to 2.757,0.081 to 0.151,3.493 to 4.382,and 0.812 to 0.892,respectively.These indices showed relatively uniform distribution across different river reaches.[Conclusion]The result indicate that the fish community structure in the Pinglu Canal is relatively uniform.The reach from the Yujiang River to the Shaping River shows higher stability,while other river reaches experience moderate or severe disturbances.This study provides supplementary baseline data on the fish community structure in the Pinglu Canal and explores the potential impact of inter-basin connectivity on fish resources,aiming to provide a scientific basis for habitat restoration assessments after the channel straightening project. 展开更多

The connected and automated vehicles(CAVs)technologies provide more information to drivers in the car-following(CF)process.Unlike the human-driven vehicles(HVs),which only considers information in front,the CAVs circumstance allows them to obtain information in front and behind,enhancing vehicles perception ability.This paper proposes an intelligent back-looking distance driver model(IBDM)considering the desired distance of the following vehicle in homogeneous CAVs environment.Based on intelligent driver model(IDM),the IBDM integrates behind information of vehicles as a control term.The stability condition against a small perturbation is analyzed using linear stability theory in the homogeneous traffic flow.To validate the theoretical analysis,simulations are carried out on a single lane under the open boundary condition,and compared with the IDM not considering the following vehicle and the extended IDM considering the information of vehicle preceding and next preceding.Six scenarios are designed to evaluate the results under different disturbance strength,disturbance location,and initial platoon space distance.The results reveal that the IBDM has an advantage over IDM and the extended IDM in control of CAVs car-following process in maintaining string stability,and the stability improves by increasing the proportion of the new item. 展开更多

Many vehicle platoons are interrupted while traveling on roads,especially at urban signalized intersections.One reason for such interruptions is the inability to exchange real-time information between traditional human-driven vehicles and intersection infrastructure.Thus,this paper develops a Markov chain-based model to recognize platoons.A simulation experiment is performed in Vissim based on field data extracted from video recordings to prove the model’s applicability.The videos,recorded with a high-definition camera,contain field driving data from three Tesla vehicles,which can achieve Level 2 autonomous driving.The simulation results show that the recognition rate exceeds 80%when the connected and autonomous vehicle penetration rate is higher than 0.7.Whether a vehicle is upstream or downstream of an intersection also affects the performance of platoon recognition.The platoon recognition model developed in this paper can be used as a signal control input at intersections to reduce the unnecessary interruption of vehicle platoons and improve traffic efficiency. 展开更多

Asymmetric connectedness between China’s carbon and energy markets based on TVP-VAR model

An intuitive portrayal of the correlation between the carbon and energy markets is essential for risk control and green financial investment management.In this paper,we investigate the asymmetric spillovers between the carbon mar-ket and energy market returns.To achieve that,we improve the Diebold-Yilmaz index model by a time-varying vector autoregressive(TVP-VAR)model.In a unified network,our daily dataset includes the closing prices of the Hubei carbon market,Shenzhen carbon market,coal futures,and energy stock index.The findings reveal that both the Hubei and Shen-zhen pilots typically generate net information spillovers on energy futures.In connection with energy stocks,the Hubei carbon market acts as a net receiver,while the Shenzhen carbon market is a net transmitter.Compared with the Hubei pi-lot,the Shenzhen pilot is more tightly connected to the energy markets.Furthermore,the spillovers of the carbon markets exhibit significant asymmetry.In most cases,they have more substantial impacts on the energy markets when the prices of emission allowances rise.The direction and magnitude of asymmetric spillovers across markets vary over time and can be influenced by certain economic or political events. 展开更多

Impact performance of a floating slab with a longitudinal connection track under fatigue loading

In order to accommodate higher speeds,heavier axle weights,and vibration damping criteria,a new floating slab structure was proposed.The new type of floating slab track structure was composed of three prefabricated floating slabs longitudinally interconnected with magnesium ammonium phosphate concrete(MPC).This study investigated the dynamic performance of the structure.We constructd a full-scale indoor experimental model to scrutinize the disparities in the impact performance between a longitudinally connected floating slab track and its longitudinally disconnected counterpart.Additionally,a long-term fatigue experiment was conducted to assess the impact performance of longitudinally connected floating slab tracks under fatigue loading.The findings are described in the following.1)The new structure effectively suppresses ground vibrations,exhibiting a well-balanced energy distribution profile.However,the imposition of fatigue loading leads to a reduction in the damping performance of the steel spring damping system,thereby reducing its capacity to attenuate structural vibrations and leading to an increase in ground vibration energy;2)After 107 loading cycles,the attenuation rate of the vibration acceleration for the MPC increases by 171.9%.Conversely,at the corresponding disconnected location,the attenuation rate of ground vibration acceleration decreases by 65.6%.In conclusion,longitudinally connected floating slab tracks exhibit superior vibration reduction performance.While the vibration reduction performance of longitudinally connected floating slab tracks may diminish to some extent during long-term service,these tracks continue to meet specific vibration reduction requirements. 展开更多

In order to achieve large tolerance capture and high stiffness connection for space payload operations,a Chinese large-scale space end-effector (EER) was developed.Three flexible steel cables were adopted to capture the payload with large capture allowance.Ball screw transmission mechanism and plane shape-constraint four bar linkage mechanism were utilized to connect the payload with high stiffness.The experiments show that capture tolerances in X,Y,Z,Pitch,Yaw,Roll directions are 100 mm,100 mm,120 mm,10.5°,10.5°,12°,respectively.The maximum connection stiffness is 4 800 N·m.The end-effector could meet the requirements for space large tolerance capture and high stiffness connection in the future. 展开更多

To solve product disassembly sequence planning problems efficiently, a product disassembly hybrid graph model, which describes the connection, non-connection and precedence relationships between the product parts, is established based on the characteristic of disassembly. Farther, the optimization model is provided to optimize disassembly sequence. And the solution methodology based on the genetic/simulated annealing algorithm with binaxy-tree algorithm is given. Efficient bolted joint design is an essential part of designing the minimum weight aerospace structures, since structural failures usually occur at connections and interface. A comprehensive numerical study of three-dimensional(3D) stress variations is prohibitively expensive for a large-scale structure where hundreds of bolts can be present. In this work, the hybrid composite-to-metal bolted connections used in the upper stage of European Ariane 5ME rocket are analyzed using the global-local finite element(FE) approach which involves an approximate analysis of the whole structure followed by a detailed analysis of a significantly smaller region of interest. We calculate the Tsai-Wu failure index and the margin of safety using the stresses obtained from ABAQUS. We find that the composite part of a hybrid bolted connection is prone to failure compared to the metal part. We determine the bolt preload based on the clamp-up load calculated using a maximum preload to make the composite part safe. We conclude that the unsuitable bolt preload may cause the failure of the composite part due to the high stress concentration in the vicinity of the bolt. The global-local analysis provides an efficient computational tool for enhancing 3D stress analysis in the highly loaded region. 展开更多

Based on a simplified 3-DOF model of twin-tower structure linked by a sky-bridge,the frequency response functions,the displacement power spectral density(PSD)functions,and the time-averaged total vibration energy were derived,by assuming the white noise as the earthquake excitation.The effects of connecting parameters,such as linking stiffness ratio and linking damping ratio,on the structural vibration responses were then studied,and the optimal connecting parameters were obtained to minimize the vibration energy of either the independent monomer tower or the integral structure.The influences of sky-bridge elevation position on the optimal connecting parameters were also discussed.Finally,the distribution characteristics of the top displacement PSD and the structural responses,excited by El Centro,Taft and artificial waves,were compared in both frequency and time domain.It is found that the connecting parameters at either end of connection interactively affect the responses of the towers.The optimal connecting parameters can greatly improve the damping connections on their seismic reduction effectiveness,but are unable to reduce the seismic responses of the towers to the best extent simultaneously.It is also indicated that the optimal connecting parameters derived from the simplified 3-DOF model are applicable for two multi-story structures linked by a sky-bridge with dampers.The seismic reduction effectiveness obtained varies from 0.3 to 1.0 with different sky-bridge mass ratio.The displacement responses of the example structures are reduced by approximately 22% with sky-bridge connections. 展开更多

Based on the 60 mm artillery grenade,a slow-release structure was designed to reduce the severity of ammunitions response to accidental thermal stimulation and improve the thermal stability of ammunitions.The slow-release structure was made of high-density polyethylene(HDPE) and connected the fuse and the projectile body through internal and external threads.To study the safety of the slowrelease structure under artillery launching overload,mechanical analysis of the slow-release structure was simulated via finite element analysis(FEA).The impacts of various factors(e.g.,fuse mass,number of threads,and nominal diameter of internal threads of the slow-release structure) on the connection strength of the slow-release structure were studied.A strength-prediction model based on the fuse mass and internal thread parameters was established by fitting the maximum effective stress of the slowrelease structure.This led to good prediction results.In conclusion,this study provides references and theoretical support for the design of thermal protection structures insensitive to ammunition. 展开更多

A fast interactive segmentation algorithm of image-sequences based on relative fuzzy connectedness is presented. In comparison with the original algorithm, the proposed one, with the same accuracy, accelerates the segmentation speed by three times for single image. Meanwhile, this fast segmentation algorithm is extended from single object to multiple objects and from single-image to image-sequences. Thus the segmentation of multiple objects from complex hackground and batch segmentation of image-sequences can be achieved. In addition, a post-processing scheme is incorporated in this algorithm, which extracts smooth edge with one-pixel-width for each segmented object. The experimental results illustrate that the proposed algorithm can obtain the object regions of interest from medical image or image-sequences as well as man-made images quickly and reliably with only a little interaction. 展开更多

The aim of this work is to explore the impact of regional transit service on tour-based commuter travel behavior by using the Bayesian hierarchical multinomial logit model, accounting for the spatial heterogeneity of the people living in the same area.With two indicators, accessibility and connectivity measured at the zone level, the regional transit service is captured and then related to the travel mode choice behavior. The sample data are selected from Washington-Baltimore Household Travel Survey in 2007,including all the trips from home to workplace in morning hours in Baltimore city. Traditional multinomial logit model using Bayesian approach is also estimated. A comparison of the two different models shows that ignoring the spatial context can lead to a misspecification of the effects of the regional transit service on travel behavior. The results reveal that improving transit service at regional level can be effective in reducing auto use for commuters after controlling for socio-demographics and travel-related factors.This work provides insights for interpreting tour-based commuter travel behavior by using recently developed methodological approaches. The results of this work will be helpful for engineers, urban planners, and transit operators to decide the needs to improve regional transit service and spatial location efficiently. 展开更多

By integrating multiple sensors, localization modules in OBUs(on-board units) require effective estimation solutions to cope with various operation conditions. Based on the filtering estimation framework for sensor fusion, an ensemble Kalman filter(En KF) is introduced to estimate the vehicle's state with observations from navigation satellites and neighborhood vehicles, and the original En KF solution is improved by using the cubature transformation to fulfill the requirements of the nonlinearity approximation capability, where the conventional ensemble analysis operation in En KF is modified to enhance the estimation performance without increasing the computational burden significantly. Simulation results from a nonlinear case and the cooperative vehicle localization scenario illustrate the capability of the proposed filter, which is crucial to realize the active safety of connected vehicles in future intelligent transportation. 展开更多

Based on the background of structural protection and Disaster Reduction Engineering, the dynamic behaviour and failure mechanism of restrained beams in portal steel frames in localised fire are investigated via experimental measurement and numerical simulation techniques. Comprehensive parametric studies are carried out to discuss the influence of end connection types, temperature, impact velocity,impact mass and span-to-depth ratio(SDR) on the dynamic response of the beams. The characteristics of deformation, internal force and energy distribution about the restrained beams and its joints are investigated. A temperature dependent criterion for evaluating the frame joint performance is proposed to measure the degree of performance degradation and impact resistance of the joint. The dynamic displacement amplification factor in different temperature environments are proposed for the different beam end constraint types and SDRs. Results of the experimental and numerical analysis show that the welded connection(WC) of three typical joint types is the strongest, and the extended endplate connection(EEC) is the weakest in terms of the impact resistance performance. With regard to the failure mode of the joint, the failure positions of the WC and the welded-bolted connection are located in the inner web of the column. Meanwhile, the EEC is located in the connection position between the beam and the endplate. Three different internal force stages and two obvious critical temperature boundaries of the restrained beams emerge with the increase in temperature, and they have significant characteristics in terms of deformation trend, internal force transfer and energy distribution. During the impact, a phenomenon known as “compression arch action” develops into “catenary action” with the increase in deflection in the frame beam mechanism. 展开更多

Many of auto manufacturers in china have introduced some CAD/CAE/CAM systems in product development process, and have got some success. But the special and effi cient CAD system aimed at particular product is absent. This paper provides a CA D/CAE system that can realize the integration of CAD and CAE process for engine connecting rod development. The paper discusses some general methods in connecting rod design process, and s ums up structure characteristics of connecting rod. It introduces feature defini tion and feature classification facing connecting rod CAD/CAE system. Based on t he study of the feature technology and the feature of connecting rod, it creates the feature information model and feature database of engine connecting rod . In addition, it creates the parametric model of engine connection rod and real izes variable parametric design and variable structure design. With the help of Pro/Toolkit and Using C++ program to call the user ’s toolbox of Pro/ Engineer software system, the connecting rod CAD/CAE syst em can create connecting rod model automatically to meet the needs of different structure and different type of connecting rod. Based on Pro/Mechanica platform of PTC, the system can implements the Finite Ele ment Analysis and optimization of the connecting rod. Because using the same database in design and analysis, no data lost and no error occurs during da ta transforming. Using the connecting rod CAD/CAE system, the connecting rod can be meshed automatically and the FEA result can be achieved very fast and is very similar to the experiment. In a word, the connecting rod CAD/CAE system developed in this paper can optimiz e the product development process, realize the data share and concurrent enginee ring in the product design and analysis process, shorten the product develop ment circle, and improve the efficiency. 展开更多
