Effort is make my researchers to combat this problem. In this work Co-deposition of Ni-CoSiO_2 composite coating on mild steel was reported with the view to reduce this problem. The SiO_2 was varies from 5 to 25 wt% in the deposition. The microstructure, hardness values and potentiodynamic polarization in simulated sea water were determined. The results show that XRD pattern of the Ni Co deposited mild steel revealed the presence hard phases of NiO, Co_5Ni, Co_2Ni_3, Ni Co5 while that of Ni-CoSiO_2 deposited mild steel revealed the presence harder phases of NiOSiO_2, CoNi_7Si_2, Co_5Ni_2Si_3. The NiCo-25 SiO_2 deposited sample has smaller particle size than Ni-10 Co coating. Coating thickness of 110.7 mm was obtained for Ni-10 Co coating, while coating thickness of 135.7, 157.7, 165.0 mm were obtained at Ni-10 Co-x SiO_2(x=10, 15, 25 wt%). 99.90% corrosion resistance was achieved at Ni-Co-25 SiO_2. This improvement in corrosion resistance after composites coating could be attributed to the hard and fine structure obtained after coating.展开更多

Phase compositions and microstructures of the as-prepared coatings were characterized by XRD and SEM analyses. The influence of deposition voltage on the phase, microstructure and antioxidation property of the cristobalite aluminum phosphate coatings was investigated. Results show that the as-prepared coatings are composed of cristobalite aluminum phosphate crystallites. The thickness and density of cristobalite aluminum phosphate coatings are improved with the increase of deposition voltage. The deposition amount and bonding strength of the cristobalite aluminum phosphate coatings also increase with the increase of deposition voltage. The deposition mass per unit area of the coatings and the square root of the deposition time at different hydrothermal voltages satisfy linear relationship. The antioxidation property of the coated C/C composites is improved with the increase of deposition voltage. Compared with SiC coatings prepared by pack cementation, the multilayer coatings prepared by pack cementation with a later hydrothermal electrophoretic deposition process exhibit better antioxidation property. The as-prepared multi-coatings can effectively protect C/C composites from oxidation in air at 1 773 K for 37 h with a mass loss rate of 0.53%.展开更多

Taguchi method was used to optimize these factors for maximizing the mechanical properties of surface composites. The fabricated surface composites were examined by optical microscope for dispersion of reinforcement particles. It was found that Al2O3 particles are uniformly dispersed in the stir zone. The tensile properties of the surface composites increased with the increase in the volume percentage of the Al2O3 reinforcement particles. This is due to the addition of the reinforcement particles which increases the temperature of recrystallization by pinning the grain boundaries of the copper matrix and blocking the movement of the dislocations. The observed mechanical properties are correlated with microstructure and fracture features.展开更多

But the room temperature brittleness induces shape difficult and limits its industrial application. The Fe-Al intermetallic coatings were prepared by high velocity arc spraying technology with cored wire on 20G steel, which will not only obviate the problems faced in fabrication of these alloys into useful shapes, but also allow the effective use of their outstanding high-temperature performance. The Fe-Al/WC intermetallic composite coatings were prepared by high velocity arc spraying technology on 20G steel and the oxidation performance of Fe-Al/WC composite coatings was studied by means of thermogrativmetic analyzer at 450, 650 and 800℃. The results demonstrate that the kinetics curve of oxidation at three temperatures approximately follows the logarithmic law. The composition of the oxidized coating is mainly composed of Al2O3, Fe2O3, Fe3O4 and FeO. These phases distribute unevenly. The protective Al2O3 film firstly forms and preserves the coatings from further oxidation.展开更多

The morphology, structure, elements diffusion distribution and microhardness of the coatings formed at different diffusion temperatures were studied. The results indicate that the coating is made up of deposition layer and diffusion layer, and the surface roughness of specimens is increased after diffusion. In the diffusion layer, the major phases are Mo and β-Ti phase with addition of α′-Ti phase and α″-Ti phase. And the phase composition of Mo→β→α″→α′ is formed for different Mo contents in the diffusion layer from outside to inside. The diffusion of Ti element is very obvious as well as Mo element. With increasing the diffusion temperature, the thickness of diffusion layer is increased rapidly, and the microhardness is changed more smoothly with diffusion depth, which shows the same distribution rules as the Mo content.展开更多

文摘The effects of hot extrusion and addition of Al_(2)O_(3p) on both microstructure and tribological behavior of 7075 composites were investigated via optical microscopy(OM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive spectrometry(EDS),and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The experimental consequences reveal that the optimal addition of Al_(2)O_(3p) was 2 wt%.After hot extrusion, the Mg(Zn,Cu,Al)2 phases partially dissolve into the matrix and generate many uniformly distributed aging precipitation particles, the Al_(7)Cu_(2)Fe phases are squeezed and broken, and the Al_(2)O_(3p) become uniform distribution. The microhardness of as-extruded 2 wt%Al_(2)O_(3p)/7075 composites reaches HV 170.34,increased by 41.5%than as-cast composites. The wear rate of as-extruded 2 wt%Al_(2)O_(3p)/7075 composites is further lower than that of as-cast composites under the same condition.SEM-EDS analyses reveal that the reinforced wear resistance of composites can put down to the protective effect of the Al_(2)O_(3p) reinforced transition layer. After hot extrusion, the transition layer becomes stable, which determines the reinforced wear resistance of the as-extruded composites.
文摘The Fe-based coatings in powder form were deposited on a steel type E335 by flame spraying technique. The effects of the post heat treatment on the microstructure and the mechanical properties of sprayed coatings were studied.Post heat treatment was conducted in a furnace in air at 623 K,823 K and 1023 K for 1 h and then cooled in air.The results showed that with the increase of annealing temperature, the microstructure of coating treated at 823 K and 1023 K had several changes as follows:the reduction of porosity, formation of carbides and oxides. It was found that the solid solution FCC(Fe,Ni),intermetallic compound AlFe3 and carbides[Fe,C]were the main phases for coatings as-sprayed and treated at 623 K and while iron carbide, molybdenum carbide and oxide as Fe3O4 became the main phases and reinforced the solid solution FCC(Fe,Ni)phase for annealed coatings at 823 K.However,it was observed the disappearance of molybdenum carbide and oxide Fe3O4 at 1023 K.The coating annealed at 823 K exhibited an excellent wear resistance than the as-sprayed and annealed coatings at 623 K and 1023 K and shows the lower wear rate than another coating treated or as sprayed.

文摘Cristobalite aluminum phosphate (C-AlPO_4) coatings were prepared by a hydrothermal electrophoretic deposition process on SiC-coated C/C composites. The as-prepared multi-coatings can effectively protect C/C composites from oxidation in air at 1 773 K for 37 h with a mass loss rate of 0.53%.
文摘The influence of three factors, such as volume percentage of reinforcement particles(i.e. Al2O3), tool tilt angle and concave angle of shoulder, on the mechanical properties of Cue Al2O3 surface composites fabricated via friction stir processing was studied. The observed mechanical properties are correlated with microstructure and fracture features.
文摘Fe-Al intermetallics with remarkable high-temperature intensity and excellent erosion, high-temperature oxidation and sulfuration resistance are potential low cost high-temperature structural materials. The protective Al2O3 film firstly forms and preserves the coatings from further oxidation.

文摘Electroformed diamond tools have been used for many years in grinding and cutting fields while electrodeposited diamond composite coatings have been widely studied due to their desirable hardness, wear and corrosion resistance. This article reports the detrimental impact of diamond magnetism on the composites microstructure and gives explanations.Microstructure differences between composites that, respectively, contained no-further-treated diamond,magnetism-strengthening treated diamond and magnetism weakening treated diamond were carefully observed. It is shown that diamond magnetization treatment drastically harms the composite microstructure(e.g.,roughening the coating surface, coarsening the matrix grain, and more seriously, reducing the mechanical retention of diamond grains in the matrix) while demagnetization treatment does the opposite. All the observed facts could be explained by the electromagnetic interaction between magnetic fields produced by magnetic diamond grains and electric current(moving cations) during the electrodeposition process.
文摘The halide-activated pack cementation process was used to form molybdenum diffusion coating on titanium substrate. With increasing the diffusion temperature, the thickness of diffusion layer is increased rapidly, and the microhardness is changed more smoothly with diffusion depth, which shows the same distribution rules as the Mo content.

文摘In this paper, the 2.6 vol%TiBw/Ti6Al4V composites with network architecture were fabricated by hot press sintering(HPS)at 1100℃ for 1 h,and the quantitative relationships between phases and heat treatment temperatures were established. The results showed that the volume fraction phases changed linearly with a range of solution temperature(930-1010℃)and aging temperature(400-600℃).Moreover,the composites with equiaxed microstructure were obtained due to the static recrystallization after solution treated at 950℃ for 1 h and aging treated at 600℃ for 12 h.The ultimate high temperature tensile strengths were 772,658,392 and 182 MPa,and the elongations were 9.1%,12.5%,28.6%and 35.3%at 400,500,600 and 700℃,respectively.In addition, fractured morphology analysis indicated the excellent strengthening effect of TiBw at a temperature below 600℃.However,the strengthening effect was significantly reduced due to the debonding of matrix and TiBw at 700℃ and caused the cracks to propagate along the grain boundary.
文摘Nano-SiO2 particles strengthened Ni-based composite coating was designed and prepared on steel substrate. The structures and nanoparticle content of the nano-SiO2/Ni composite coating were determined by SEM, EDS and TEM; and the micro mechanical properties were tested by nano-indentation technique. The results show that 56% of particles in the solution are dispersed in size of less than 100nm, the content of nanoparticles co-deposited in the coating doubles and structure of the coating is more compact and uniform than that of Ni coating. Nano-SiO2/Ni coating exhibits excellent micro mechanical properties, and the nanohardness and elastic modulus are 7.81GPa and 198GPa, respectively, which are attributed to finer crystal strengthening, dispersion strengthening and high-density dislocation strengthening of nano-SiO2 particles to the composite coatings.

文摘In the process of protecting ferrous materials, aluminum coating usually forms a dense oxide film on the surface of the iron-based alloy. However, the capacity of the sacrificial anode is rather insufficient. In order to solve this problem, the microstructure and electrochemical corrosion properties of Al-8Si-3Fe-xIn alloy under low chlorine conditions were studied. The results show that indium(In)dissolves to form In^(3+)and In^(+)reverse plating on the surface of the bare substrate to form a passivation film defect. When the In content is high, the segregated In forms an activation point in the form of a cathode phase. In activatesτ_(6)phase to form a micro-couple,which improves the non-uniform corrosion. The In-containing corrosion products at the phase boundary hinder the diffusion of Cl−.With an increase of In content, the self-corrosion potential(Ecorr)of the alloy shifts negatively, and the self-corrosion current density(Jcorr)decreases from 6.477μA/cm^(2)to 1.352μA/cm^(2),and then increases gradually. However, when the In content is 0.1%,the Ecorr of the alloy changes from−0.824 V to−0.932 V,and the Jcorr decreases from 6.477μA/cm^(2)to 4.699μA/cm^(2),suggesting that the use of sacrificial anode will give the best effect.
